3 stars ONLY for the merchandise. I've been to locations in bigger cities, where the customer service is stellar. Hello Wilshire Blvd! Hello Walnut Creek! :) Here at Oak Brook? Meh. Not impressed. And to think I didn't review my experience last week after a call from the store manager promising to rectify the matter?? ugh. WHERE do I start? Well, the strap on my 5 y/o leather hobo bag started to stretch a bit, so I took it into this location to be sent off for repair, hopefully to be reinforced. While there, I asked if they could re-plate the hardware, as I noticed it was wearing off (I mean really, for what these bags cost, wtf??) and the sales clerk that took my repair order noted what great shape the bag was in, hardly any wear...duh, I take care of my things. ;) In any event, they call a few weeks later and quote $105 to repair the handle and re-plate hardware. I authorize the work. A few weeks later I visit to pick up my refreshed handbag, and to my surprise, when Amela (sp?) pulled my bag out of the outer bag, (not a dust bag) the entire handle had been replaced, BUT with a totally different leather grain! I was shocked! I said to her, "WHY would they put a grainy strap on a smooth bag!?!" She had no answer. Then I noticed the hardware..."And why didn't they re-plate the hardware?" She then referenced the repair order which stated "could not re-plate hardware." Guess that answers that. We moved back to the strap issue and the repair total. Amela stated the repair would be $105. I reminded her that was the original price, surely since they couldn't address both issues, the total would now be different? That question stumped Amela so she called over Dustin (sp?), who in short order doled out equal parts apathy and disdain and made me feel as if I were wasting his time. He looked at the bag and without seeking my input announced the repair would be $105. I said "I'm upset, I don't like this strap and I can't believe you're making me pay for repairs that weren't performed." She shuffled a few papers around, nervously, and Dustin mumbled something about calling someone...and then she announced to me that since I was unhappy, they would give me the bag and repair was gratis. As if! They both had an attitude that I should be grateful they weren't charging me for sub-standard repair work! For ruining my bag! So I took the bag and figured I'd use it to travel with; let it get ripped off my arm, who cares! ;) A few days go by and I receive a call from the Store Manager Annette, who couldn't have been nicer, and I refused a few times to return the bag stating that I didn't even care at this point. I didn't want to return, namely due to how poorly I was treated...she had to TALK ME INTO BRINGING THE BAG IN "SO WE CAN MAKE IT RIGHT" and I finally relented and said I'd be in next week. She said anybody could help me. Remember that part, please. Fast forward to tonight, and yet again, I must deal with Amela and Dustin, who know nothing about the call from the manager. This time I showed Amela a sweater I wore over the weekend with that bag, and how because of an inferior repair job, there was a part of the stitching that (unbeknownst to me) was catching on my sweater, so NOW my sweater is ruined. It looks like a cat clawed it! Ugh. I tell Amela, "I don't need the sweater replaced, as I have another one just like it, I just want the strap replaced. I only wanted to show you what the strap did to my sweater so you can make your repair team aware of this..."deaf ears. "what? huh?" Dustin picked it up to examine, noting that he doesn't see what's wrong with the strap. "It isn't the same grain as the rest of the bag." To which he replied, and I swear to God "I didn't see the original strap." At that I was like, if I don't leave now, someone will be sorry. What a complete waste of my time. I love how the staff is dressed so professionally. Funny, you can dress an idiot in a suit, but they're still an idiot. Apparently. The attitude displayed by each of them was insulting, to say the least. I stop shopping in stores once I believe they're only nice to me when I'm making a purchase. I will also reach out to corporate tomorrow. On my way out I said to Dustin "Annette said that anyone could help me with this issue, can you understand why I'm frustrated??" Nope, still the same apathetic facial expression. Nice. Then he actually said thanks to me as I exited, I replied with "thanks for nothing!" I think it takes great nerve to possess that much superiority when you're clerking away at a retail gig! UPDATE: I neglected to mention the shining moment when Dustin insinuated that nobody from the store called me! I retrieved my phone and scrolled through my call log until I found the store's telephone number! I showed him my phone with the 5 minute call, he then asked me "did she leave a message?" I said again (3rd time?) we had a convo!" read more
