In my eternal quest to find pizza like I had in Italy, these guys are definitely awful close. The crust is truly Italian which most Americans won't like. Flour. Water and salt. That's it. Then cooked 2-3 minutes in an extremely hot oven - at least 700° then topped with hand crushed tomatoes, fresh basil and not drenched with cheese. The only thing they do differently here is they cut it into slices. We of the true pizza culture use a fork and knife. Local food and vegetables. Great workers. And a huge menu that will satisfy the carnivore and vegetarian alike. I especially liked it when they come out with your food and yell your name to find you. As a local in Hernando I am very thankful and proud to be a regular at Buon Cibo. Though Hernando has continued to grow over the last decade I've lived here, it has lacked quality and approachable restaurants. Buon Cibo has come to the rescue and with flying colors. The food is amazing, the staff is FANTASTIC, the pricing is reasonable, and the beer is good! We always enjoy our meal and the experience at Buon Cibo so if you're yet to try this place, definitely stop in! I just left Buon Cibo after having lunch there with my husband. I ordered The Clarksdale which is a BBQ pizza with chicken, onion, & jalapenos. I was brought out a vegetable pizza with peppers and mushrooms, I believe it's called The Cleveland. It looked good, but it was not at all what I ordered. When I was placing my order, the girl repeated it back to me correctly so I am unsure where the communication breakdown is. They brought me the correct pizza after my husband informed them that I was brought an incorrect order. The server he told about the mistake preceded to tell the kitchen staff that I was not certain what I ordered, which is absolutely untrue. I know the difference between a vegetable pizza and a BBQ chicken pizza. If this was the only time that this had happened I would move on and not leave a review. I understand mistakes happen and miscommunication occurs. However, this is the fourth time in a row that I have eaten at this restaurant and my order has been wrong or forgotten altogether. I have probably eaten here a total of 15 times and I always enjoy the food immensely. I also try to support local businesses whenever I eat out. However, I am not certain I can keep returning when my order is always brought to me incorrectly or not made at all. My husband went and explained the situation to the owner before we left today and his response was pretty much just "thanks for telling me." No offer to make things right, no refund of any kind, no "please come back and give us another chance" kind of attitude. The food is always tasty and fresh; but I would strongly suggest the owner hire more competent servers instead of young girls that immediately blame his customers for their mistakes. Like I said, once or twice on a busy night can be forgotten, but four+ times of incorrect food and extremely poor service is borderline unforgivable. read more

Kind of a hip, trendy restaurant. You order fancy named pizzas off the menu on the wall that's written in chalk, sort of cafeteria-ish over the counter/cash register. They call your name when your food is ready, you raise your hand and they bring your food to the table. Despite how that might all have sounded, pizzas, both times we stopped here, were great! Despite the fact that it's right off the highway, it's filled with locals. That should tell you something. read more

The food here is delicious. I had the Pimento and Bacon Cheese Burger and homemade fries and I enjoyed every bite. They had nice thick cut bacon and it tasted like homemade pimento cheese. The atmosphere is nice and family friendly and the service was good. You're greeted when you walk in and they happily answer any questions you have about the menu. The menu has tons on salad, pizza, and sandwich options. They also have desserts. I haven't tried a dessert yet, but I look forward to trying more menu items in the near future. read more

Drove down to check this place out after hearing so many good reviews. In short, not impressed and will not return. Food I'm sure is local but not good. Bland and flavorless. The person I went with for a Cuban and said it was not good. I got a cheese pizza. First slice ok second one I could not finish. It was lacking flavor. I got the buon cibo salad and although good was not any better than other salads. The blue cheese was good and it was a fresh salad but again not worth the drive and hype. I was still hungry and I got a bowl of tomato soup. The most bland soup I have ever eaten. It had the consistency and flavor of tomato paste. The bathroom was out of paper towels. I've only been here once, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pizza. It's definitely up there with my other 2 favorites in north MS (Three Guys and TriBecca Allie). If you enjoy food that doesn't suck and isn't your run of the mill crap that has plagued Hernando for most of the recent past, go to Buon Cibo. I appreciate the chef's original take on food; I hope more places such as this restaurant come into town so the people of Hernando can enjoy an actual good meal without going out of town. Local and fresh is the only way to go. One suggestion, though: please open up on either Sunday or Monday. A two day drought is too much to bear when I'm only in town for a couple of days as it is. We have eaten here multiple times and for the most part the food is very good. That said, this is about their burgers. Don't bother - order any thing else and you will be pleased with your food. We have gotten burgers twice during visits months apart and thought the first time was just a bad night but yesterday proved me wrong. They just can't do burgers very well. Yesterday mine was burned - dry and tough and the top of the was bun was burned as well. I would not have sent the charred bun out of the kitchen. Y'all are so better than this. Friendly staff, good food, but there were multiple mistakes made on our order and burnt fries and sweet potato chips. They did replace the burnt items when we asked. If the orders had been correct and I burnt in the first place I would have given at least a 4. Once corrected the food was very good! read more

My daughter loves Buon Cibo. She likes their Ham Sandwich w/ Jezebel sauce. Me...I'm only a so-so fan. We went again recently, I figured I'd give them another chance. I had the Smoked Brisket Pizza w blue cheese. The pie came covered in so much cheese but no blue cheese to be seen. I asked for some blue cheese and was given more. When I picked up my slice the cheese and brisket were so heavy it all fell from the slice. I wasn't offered any kind of plate so it all fell on top of my pizza. My daughter gave me the wax paper under her sandwich. The slices were cut in huge slices. There was a lot of grease drippings...not sure if it was from the cheese or the brisket. We love this place! The food is excellent! The chef has created a menu of pizzas and sandwiches and salads that have awesome favor combinations! They use as much local sources for food as they can and the quality is great! The pizzas are even named after MS cities. My personal favorites are "the Jackson" and "The Como". "The Jackson" has roasted sweet potatoes on it which may not sound like a standard pizza topping but is so delicious! "The Como" is my ultimate cheese favorite. It even has goat cheese on it which I love! The salads are fresh and dressings are homemade. The sandwiches again are delicious and most are unique from what you'd find in every ol' restaurant. Oh and they do fresh made potato and sweet potato chips and hand cut fries. They have added burgers to the menu and these are the home cooked tasting kind of burgers with tons of flavor. They stock a good selection of craft beers and there's always chess pie or some other sweet goodies you can grab to satisfy your sweet tooth. I'd definitely recommend! read more

I called in order around 445 pm for 2 turkey sandwiches, one on ciabatta, one on brioche. The brie smelled like ammonia, which means its going bad, the brioche bread was dry and crumbly. The ciabatta bread was burnt and so were the sweet potato chips. I was told it would be 15 to 20 minutes for the order to be ready...but I know my husband was there within 10 and it was ready....Someone could have taken the time and cooked some more chips and replaced the burnt and old breads. Run a restaurant much? the turkey and pasta salad was the only part edible but tastes like you bought it at Walmart across the street. I have managed several delis better than this. BTW the menu looks wonderful...which is why we chose your place. Too bad the food wasn't as good....my honest opinion.....will never go back again! read more

I am not sure what to say about Buon Cibo. Everybody we talked to ranted and raved over the place, but the food is basically just cold-cuts on toasted bread that's way too hard to eat. I was expecting something similar to what McAlister's or Newk's offers, only a little more "up-scale". What I got was closer to what Subway has, only at a much higher price. I see no need to return here for this type of food. I can have the same for a cheaper price at Subway. Update - somebody, I assume the owner, sent me a message that more or less said I could not tell the difference between locally grown items and those shipped in. I used to be a farmer and gardener so I know fresh produce is far better. In addition, I have travelled around the world and sampled many great meals prepared from "who knows what". That really does not matter in this case. I would definitely rather support local growers, but if the restaurant louses up the meal, then they might as well be buying from a third world country somewhere. What I mean to say is that regardless of where they buy their supplies, a good restaurant should be able to turn those supplies into a worthy meal. Again, I say I have had better at Subway and for far less cost. If I wanted cold cuts on toast, I would have bought a package of bologna and over-toasted some light bread.
