Unfortunately there was a guy pounding meat in the kitchen most of the time we were eating lunch in the dining room. It was extremely loud and annoying, even though the dining room is pretty and rustic. It truly put a damper on our meal. The food was great! We started with white garlic clams which were excellent! The sauce, full of slices of garlic, was worth dipping the bread in!!! I had the chicken balsamic which was excellent, with a slight sweetness with the tang of the balsamic. My husband had a veal dish with red peppers, melted mozzarella over a pasta in a pesto sauce. Also excellent. The service was really good. Really enjoyed our dinner at Buon Appetito! We came with a party of about 15. Service was fantastic for our party! It is BYOB. Although the restaurant does not look like much from the outside, it serves delicious homemade Italian food in the dining room. Everything was fresh and well flavored. My fiance and I have eaten dinner here a few times and the food was very good however the catering menu is mediocre. I don't understand why. I ordered three half trays today for my dad's birthday. One was baked ziti. The sauce was mediocre. Now I've had their sauce before especially on Gnocchi and it is delicious. What happened with the ziti? The second was Broccoli Rabe with sausage. The Broccoli was good but the sausage was overcooked and little flavor. I buy mine at an Italian butcher way.better!!! Then Chicken Francese which was pretty good. My wife and I love the food here and they have amazing desserts. BUT she just stopped in to pick up a few desserts. They are a kind of custard / meringue 1 was lemon 1 was strawberry. She got home with them and noticed the strawberry on top of the one dessert is COVERED in MOLD!!!! She immediately took it back!! Sadly I had already eaten some of the lemon one so I throw it away!! They should date the containers and get rid of them after a few days. This was the most disgusting thing I have gotten from a restaurant in a very long time!! They gave us our $7 backs. Wow thanks. But the Shore Savings mag had an advert that looked interesting. We didn't order any coupon specials but still wanted to give it a go. I ordered the penne with broccoli rabe and sausage. Add shrimp. It was a good portion with sausage and garlic filling it out. The "add shrimp" was a bit of a disappointment as add shrimp means ONE shrimp. The $1.50 up charge should have been my flag. Overall, very good. The Mrs got Chicken parm sandwiche. She always does. It was also very good and priced well. The rice ball with ricotta was excellent! Huge portion, easily shareable. I travel from Barnegat here for the best $12 salad you'll ever get. There's honestly no lie 2 lbs of chicken on this salad plus a 1/4 lb of bacon and 1/4 cheese. You could easily add more lettuce at home and serve more people LOL. The quality of the food is impeccable and the service is top notch. Went in with my kiddo today who was antsy for pizza and the girl at the counter offered him a bag of chips on the house and it made his whole day. We booked this restaurant for my fathers 70th birthday a week or so ago. They did an amazing job. The wait staff was beyond polite and attentive and the owner was a sweetheart. It's a family operation and the pride this family takes in its food and hospitality shines through. We got an array of apps to start including a sampler platter, calamari and a stuffed artichoke which were all incredible. I was so full after the apps that I had a grilled chicken salad for the meal and it was perfect. Arrangements were made Wednesday evening for Friday dinner for 25 people, but ended up being 32.( no problem with changes either) we were offered a private room for our group of adults and kids. with a set buffet menu for us. What a surprise!!! With a ton of Italian restaurants in NJ, you come to expect a certain quality of food. I'd say that Buon Appetito goes well above my expectations. When we got there, we were seated promptly. The waiter was pleasant and chilled our wine while we read over the menus. Bread with 3 dipping sauces arrived right after. That was great because I was pretty hungry! One was a sun dried tomato oil, another was a pesto-like oil and the 3rd was a garlic infused oil. All pretty tasty. The salad was fresh and crisp. The house dressing was a balsamic, mustard vinaigrette. Nothing too memorable but it was good. My aunt and I ordered the linguine in white clam sauce. Personally, I don't normally order this because hardly ever do your clams come out either not out of a can or like rubber. My aunt said her friend that is a darn good cook always orders it. Hmmm... Maybe I have to tempt fate. I do, and to my great surprise, it was FANTASTIC! Linguine, about 12 clams int he shells and then a TON of fresh (not canned!) chopped clams over the top. There was no way you could take a bite without it containing clams. The linguine was perfectly al dente and the sauce was buttery and garlicky. Just the way I like it! I would recommend this to anyone who loves clams. My uncle had the chicken parmesan but it had vodka sauce instead of regular sauce. It had a different name but... basically it was just chicken parm with vodka sauce. That was tasty too! We didn't order dessert but after dinner, the lady who I believe is the owner, came over and asked if we would like an aperitif. She offered us home made limoncello, orangecello or chocolate liquor. It was so delicious! This alone would make me come back. I really recommend that you try this restaurant for the linguine with white clam sauce or just so you can get a sip of the orangecello!
