The food is fresh and it's a fun spin but I found the pricing to be a quite steep, specifically the tteobokki. The kimbap was fresh and had a unique twist but many of them did fall apart and it was almost impossible to eat in a single bite. Service was friendly but needed some improvements on attentiveness. Our pot of tea came near the end of our meal and we barely had time to drink it before our bill came.

After being wow-ed by their service and quality when I ordered 150 kimbaps for an Amazon event that I hosted, I had to visit in person. No wait on Sunday afternoon. We sat and ordered right away: Signature Kimbap and Tteokbokkii. Signature kimbap: had pretty big chunk of tuna and salmon sprinkled with masago. The pieces were huge! Tteokbokkii: comes with 2 shrimp tampura, 2 sausages, 2 mandoos, and 2 kim ma ri (fried seaweed filled with glass noodles). The assortment of fried food was very delicious. The Tteokbokkii sauce itself was a bit mild. The rice cake was a bit disappointing as well since it was thin and not as chewy. Interior was clean and modern. Service was pretty fast. I would visit again when I'm in the area!

Clean and well-lit restaurant. It has the open-space interior design, which feels not so claustrophobic. The staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. Always checked up on us if we needed water and what not. The poke bowl with edible flower tasted good. I best recommend you to have green tea with the meal and not drink cold water. My friend ordered veggie Kimbap, and she liked it, too. The restaurant is located at the outdoor mall, so after you eat, you can walk around to other businesses.

We came here because of the famous kimbab, and we got the signature one. It was pretty good, more like a sushi roll than a kimbab though. The Rose tteokbokki was really good, with a delicious sauce and cheese. However, the army stew was just so-so, tasting like something we could make at home with Korean instant noodles. The service was a bit of a letdown though. We made a reservation but were told it wasn't working when we arrived. Fortunately, the restaurant wasn't busy, but there was only one server for the whole place on a Saturday lunch. She did a great job, but they really should hire more staff. The food was also really slow to come out, taking 30 minutes for everything, even though there were only four tables occupied.

Cute bright little Korean restaurant in Bellevue next to Crossroad. The restaurant itself is very bright and modern inside with friendly staffs ready We ordered: the signature kimbap - which was honestly my favorite but definitely pricey army stew - I didnt think this was Spicy and was pretty mild but my friends were saying it was spicy (my spice tolerance is pretty high) oden nabe - I really enjoyed the fish cake it was the perfect consistency for me Overall it's a decent spot but for some soup and kimbap it was definitely pricey for okay soup

Super nice location with modern decor and clean space. It's located near Crossroads and has big parking lot access. Food itself was average. We got the rose tteokboki which was cheesy but didn't have too much flavor. The army stew is small portion and just enough for one person. The signature kimbap was pretty but also lacked flavor. Each dish was about $20 which is about average in Bellevue. Overall I wasn't wow'ed but it was decent

A modern, clean, relaxed, inexpensive, casual Korean restaurant in the area. I got the seaweed salad, signature Kimbap, signature roll, and the rose tteokbokki. The Kimbap was really nice and filling. The seaweed salad was a good deal and perfect starter/apprtizer The rose tteokbokki was very flavorful and delicious, it was above and beyond my expectations. I am not surprised this was the top ordered dishes from the menu. My server was very charming and attentive. Plenty of parking outside of this restaurant I'm very happy this restaurant is located on the Eastside area. I highly recommend coming here with your friends and family, even casual work lunch is recommended. Note: they currently do not serve any alcoholic beverages, would be nice if they do though I wish I could give this place a 10 stars if possible

So yummy and pretty kimbap!! When we arrived on a Wednesday for an early dinner we were surprised that no one was inside. Our waitress was super sweet the whole time and the inside is so beautiful and nicely decorated! Between the three of us we got the classic, signature, and california kimbap as well as the rose tteokkbokki. All of them were absolutely delicious! The classic kimbap was our favorite of three, with the perfect balance of every ingredient wrapped in a thin layer of rice. The signature was really unique, but felt more like sushi with the raw fish. The special seaweed they use to wrap was also very unique. The California was basically like a large stuffed California roll -- exactly as youd expect but really good still. The tteokkbokki was great too, though super creamy and a little heavy. It had a good flavor and the fried seaweed roll and mandu were delicious too. Our waitress also gave us 2 drinks to try which was an orange tangerine and yuzu soda. They were both so refreshing and delicious! Overall this spot has some delicious comforting food and I'd highly recommend trying it!

First thing that caught my eye was the modern and bright atmosphere of the restaurant. Opened by young Koreans who want to make elevated Korean street food to the Seattle community, I love how they make the kimbap into such pretty and tasty versions. They already taste so good without any sauce and the portions are huge! I love the Nabe Udon which is super comforting and comes with lots of vegetables, mushrooms and fish cakes. The broth is the best part where it has so much umami. The owners and servers were so nice and even we only ordered two miso soups but they gave us one more as we have three people. Great to see the Korean food scene is getting better and with the innovation from the newer generation!

Bunsik is a fairly new upscale street food Korean restaurant! Lots of space, sparkly clean and lots of parking nearby. Service is fast and the interior is so so cute. I got their signature kimbap, which is a sizable portion for the price. Also got their rose tteokbokki which was delicious!! I'd highly recommend trying. It was definitely my favourite out of the two options I got, as the rice cakes were soft and cooked to perfection.

I have heard a lot about this new place in Bellevue. It's in Crossroads Mall and next to Nan hot pot. We were in the neighborhood and decided to swing by. Parking was complimentary nearby. The ambiance was photogenic and brightly lit. The server was friendly and efficient. We ordered signature kimbap and Rose Tteokbokki and server said they were two best sellers. We started complimentary miso soup and they were delicious. For kimbap, it's very creative because it can be sushi or kimbap. There's no vinegar or sesame oil touch on the rice. It served pickled cabbage and ginger and a side of soy sauce. Thankfully the ingredients were fresh. For Rose Tteokbokki, rice cakes tasted good but the sauce didn't mix well and was watery. Overall, I was glad to try and crossed it out on my list.

Overall, I was very impressed with Bunsik! This shop gives a mom and pop feel with a modern twist. While the space is intimate with limited seating we were seated fairly quickly during a weekend brunch rush hour. The staff was very attentive and checked in on us regularly even as things got busier. Despite it getting busy our food came out pretty quickly after ordering getting our first dish within 10-15 minutes. We got the California, Classic, and Signature Kimbaps. These are made fresh and in house, you can see the chef bringing these creations to life in the counter seating area. The portions are big for the price and we got pretty full after eating ~2. The Signature comes with raw tuna and salmon and the fish was very fresh and melts in your mouth! Not pictured is the Rose Tteokbokki, this was my absolute favorite! These were some the softest and delicate rice cakes I've ever had with the perfect amount of chew, I definitely recommend you try these! The flavor was to my liking and while there is 1 star spice it was not that spicy. If you like something a bit spicier I definitely recommend getting the other regular one!

There seems to be a decent amount of Korean restaurants popping up in the Bellevue area and I'm interested in trying them out. Bunsik popped up as a hot and upcoming place in near the Crossroads mall and we decided to swing by on a Wednesday around 7pm to check this place out! Bunsik is located near the Crossroads mall movie theater, so there was adequate parking in the area. Service is good, the waiter and waitresses are nice, friendly, and attentive - there weren't too many other customers in the restaurant at the time so they were extra attentive, which we are grateful for. The ambiance is casual sit down, with the sort of hip grassy walls with neon light up signs decor (which many new trendy restaurants opening up in the Bellevue area seem to go for). I got two interesting items on the menu, which I'll review down below: Rose Tteokbokki ($20): I personally found this entree, underwhelming. The sauce flavor is basically a vodka-esque pasta sauce profile with rice cakes spread throughout. The flavor tastes good for sure, but it does get dull quickly after eating it for a bit. Definitely something that would be greatly enjoyed after a night out drinking. The fried components were disappointing - the shrimp tempura and mandu are both definitely something I have seen in the Costco frozen aisle. Not to downplay the price of opening a restaurant in the Bellevue area, but charging $20 on $5 worth of ingredients personally doesn't sit well with me. Signature Kimbap ($20): One of the more interesting options on the menu, if I had to recommend something from Bunsik, it would be this. I haven't had the premium seaweed sheet before, I'm not sure on how to fully describe it, but it sort of gives a grass/algae texture flavor profile in the best way. The filling is nice and packed and each bite is full. For $40 before tax and tip, I personally thought the food was mediocre. The signature kimbap was novel and had good flavor, but I don't think it was worth $20. Though the servers were nice and the ambiance was decent, I'm not sure if I would recommend Bunsik as place for good food.

Food was just alright and overpriced. On top of that, they had an audacity to charge credit card processing fee for each entrée.

This was only our second time visiting, and he took the time to explain the menus, something we didn't receive during our first visit. When our sushi arrived, he didn't just drop off the food and leave. Since all of the rolls were served on one platter, he walked us through each roll so we knew exactly what we were eating. That level of attention made the experience so much more enjoyable. He also checked on us frequently without being intrusive and made sure we were able to place our entire order before happy hour ended. During our last visit, our server avoided our table until about five minutes before happy hour ended, so we missed out on ordering several items we wanted to try. David made sure that didn't happen this time. We left completely full, happy, and very satisfied. His service was intentional, attentive, and truly top-tier. Customer service like his is exactly what keeps people coming back. We will definitely be requesting David the next time we visit! Also, the ambiance is lovely!

Not a lot of people there for a random weekday lunch. Lots of different rolls and sushi on the menu, along with beverages. The happy hour menu is also valid during lunch time. We tried a bunch of appetizers. My favorite was the calamari. There isn't much batter but there is a sweetness from orange zest. The edamame and takoyaki were decent. The chicken kaarage was not particularly flavorful nor did it have much of a crispy skin. Also tried the Cos-no-politan mocktail which definitely had that grapefruit flavor. For mains, I got the bento and the Super Bad Boy roll off the happy hour menu. The bento box has good portions. The contents change day to day, but I got chicken teriyaki over rice, 3 pieces of a crab roll, 2 pieces of fish nigiri, seaweed salad with some small octopi. Everything in the box was decent except the teriyaki, which was a bit rubbery. As for the Super Bad Boy roll, it's one of their fried rolls, and the frying made the roll taste a bit dry. Should have ordered a non-fried roll. Overall, service was good, portions okay. Some items were good, some were not that great.

Takai…read morehas been on my "to try" list ever since hearing that Chef Shiro co-partnered opening a restaurant on the Eastside a couple of years ago. Reservations were made ~3 weeks in advance for a reasonable dinner time slot on a weekend. We opted for the A La Carte Menu option which gave us the ability to order individual menu items while still offering omakase options. Our party of 4 ordered 2 omakase's (nigiri choice), a nigiri set, a salmon moriawase, and seasonal tempura. I personally ordered the omakase and the experience was well worth it with the sushi quality being extremely high. There were ~7 to 8 courses served throughout the omakase experience including 3 courses involving nigiri and the remaining courses involving a blend of small bites (egg, fish cake, tempura, sashimi, miso soup, dessert egg, hojicha ice cream to name a few). What especially stood out to me was the outstanding service that was displayed throughout the course of the meal. Our server was notably attentive and even went as far as switching the presentation of my nigiri courses after noticing I was left-handed so that I could eat from left to right while normally advising guests to eat from right to left. Every time one of us went to the restroom, our tablecloths were folded by our server and placed back onto the table. Tableware was immediately cleared upon finishing a course and every course in the omakase set came with a detailed description of the food you were about to eat and where in the world it was coming from. In all, the great food makes me want to be back soon, but the high level of service for the night completely made the experience that much more memorable.
