I was here over the long weekend to get some skiing in and this day was an off day which was nice as I don't usually get to see the town in the daytime. This little gem is across the municipal parking lot so it was super convenient to get to by foot. No pretense here, just good, classic diner quality eats (ambiance and food). Expectations, none walking in. What we got? Great service and decent food. The prices were very affordable and reasonable especially just off the ski town area... About 10 miles from Bellayre Mountain. I had to order the specials, just because the pricing was right: Prime rib with mashed potatoes - decent, cooked medium as I requested BBQ pulled pork sandwich with Cole slaw - great light lunch and the Cole slaw was finely chopped Scrambled eggs with fries and toast - as it sounds Ham and cheese omelette - also as it sounds We didn't get a burger even though it was so tempting. This is a hidden gem. Serving up numerous flavors of Perry's ice cream -- as well as soft serve, all with delicious toppings. They also have your historic lunch counter Fare, all of which is tasty and satisfying. Although I must say, I am absolutely heartbroken to see in June of 2022 that the place is for sale. As a local, I'm really not quite sure how this place has managed to last this long. Time after time I'm completely and continually more upset by the service and the quality of food this establishment has to offer. This will definitely be the last time I give the bun n cone a chance. Since we are all now living in this COVID nightmare we are forced to make decision on whether to spare our health or support local businesses. Today I was let down. This business does not care about anyone's health let alone their customers. We've come here a few times now and this place is typically one of the very few places in the area that is open 7days a week until later on in the day. Their service is friendly, inside is nothing fancy, a little run down with some tables and a bar area. Their food is sub-par, however it's not that bad specially when you're looking for a quick bite and there are no other options. Every time I've been in the area, I wanted to give this parlor a try. Thankfully, I finally did and had a pleasant experience. I had a small soft serve twist in which was fluffy and light. It reminded me of Cool Whip quite a bit. The small was pretty big, I'd say about a 6 or 7 incher. I can't even imagine how big the large would be but hey, I'm not complaining! The service was mediocre but that didn't really matter because I wasn't there for long. My friends and I sat at the counter with ice cream beards and sticky hands. It was wonderful! We played with the claw machine and didn't win anything (shocking, right?) Nothing like a small town ice cream parlor! It was my daughters third birthday and Bun N' Cone put on the best party we could have asked for! Our favorite part was when Hooky the Pirate came out on stage and sang happy birthday to our daughter. Hooky would go into the crowd and steal candy from all of the kids, it was so immersive. The kids would run around yelling and he would try to scoop up the children with his hook hand! During the Hooky the Pirate show one of the kids got sick. It's a good thing that Bun N' Cone has a fully functional hospital wing on the east side of the building! 10/10 would recommend! read more

Though the Bun N Cone was closing, a very sweet waitress was kind enough to wrassle up some burgers, fries, and shakes even though the kitchen was *this* close to closing and her family was waiting on her to leave. She was nothing other than sweet, friendly, and extremely helpful, making us feel at ease and very grateful. I wish I remembered her name! Every time we visit family here my husband & I always stop at Bun 'N Cone. The burgers are always cooked medium, but other than that they're decent. Where they shine are their magnificent skinny fries and yummy zesty curly fries. The milkshakes are delicious! I appreciate the nod towards the diner culture with the 1950s & Marilyn Monroe retro decor, which makes it wonderfully over-the-top tacky. The service is always fast and friendly, the establishment run down but spotlessly clean, and they always open at 7 am, even if it's MLK day and they just got 2 inches of snow. :) Plus they'll serve burgers and fries at 7 am too, which is always appreciated. read more

I was in the area for a wedding, found this place because it was basically one of the only places nearby. I will note, I'm from near NYC so I have pretty high standards for diner-type restaurants. This didn't cut it for me. Service: I'd give it 4 stars. We were with a group of 12 and the waitress was great. Everything came out right, timely and she was pleasant. Restaurant: Not very clean. Old fashioned-y with black and white square tiles and lots of old signs for decor. The bathroom was weird (see pictures). One bathroom has two toilets with no separation...kind of defeats the purpose of having two toilets if only one person can use it at a time. Food: meh. I ordered the pea soup which just looked like bright green puree. I love pea soup but wasn't a fan of this consistency or color at all. I also ordered an egg wrap with ham and cheese in it. The wrap was some type of seasoned wrap and the outside was pretty oily. I'd much prefer a plain wrap and it doesn't have to be toasted. This pandemic has been difficult for everyone. For me, the isolation and lack of social interactions has been devastating. I was trapped in my house for months before I decided to venture out and attempt to restore the little bit of social skills I had left. So first thing I would like to say is that Raj, the cashier/heart surgeon/mechanic, is the BEST dancer I've ever seen in my entire life. Me and my great aunt's cousin were looking for a "one size fits all" kind of place for our shopping spree to celebrate her getting her bunions removed. We found Bun 'n Cone and knew our search ended. First thing you see when you walk in is a huge statue of Shrek, but the human version of Shrek from Shrek 2 after drinking the "Happily Ever After Potion" not the Ogre Shrek. IT IS IMMACULATE. There were 3 birthdays going on in the back, a '72 Pontiac GTO up on the car lift getting a SICK super charger installed, and a message parlor where the parents could sit back and just relax as the kids Climbed all over the massive 75ft human Shrek statue. AND THATS JUST IN THE FRONT ROOM!! We were greeted by a very sweet Indonesian boy with a rotting leg but he sprayed Febreeze on it so it didn't stink like you would think. SO CONSIDERATE! He brought us through the front room into the back room when all of a sudden my great aunt's cousins appendix literally exploded. That's when Raj, the sick dancer, rushed to the rescue and preformed open heart surgery on her. At first I was confused but it turns out she had a bad heart valve and he saved her life! As a sign of my appreciation I purchased 4 birthdays from them. My friends and I stayed the evening in some suites after skiing at Belleayre. We are from NYC and we were drawn in by the 99 cents pizza slice sign. I should have known this was not going to be the dollar slices you typically see in St. Marks. The pizza looked like it was baked in a Easy-bake oven (I digress). Their sandwich selection is pretty good. I ordered the hot pastrami on rye as well as the chicken caesar wrap. The sandwiches are not soggy and were made well! The portion for their heroes is very generous and many of my friends could not finish them. If you are looking for a place to eat in Maragretville, stay away from their pizza but do try their sandwiches. read more
