Yelp 100 Challenge 12 Was in the area craving banh mi sandwich and came across this across little place in an outdoor strip mall. Super friendly and helpful employees, place was packed at lunch hour and the parking lot was just about full. Ordered two vegetarian sandwiches and and an order of summer rolls. The pickled carrots and daikon were good, while the veggie meat they call tofu was slightly flavored. The bread though was soft. Was looking for more of a crunchy, crusty French bread that I'm used to with these sandwiches. Sure sure missed that. Was given a packed of siracha sauce and chili sauce to go along with the sandwiches. I'll admit, I didn't use the sauces as I wanted to taste the sandwich ingredients themselves. The summer rolls were ok, a little sparse compared to what I'm used to. Did enjoy the mint inside, though. Came with a generous serving of peanut sauce. Maybe the meat sandwiches have more flavor? Overall the worst Vietnamese restaurant I've ever eaten at (& I reserve the title "worst" for only one of my yelp reviews, per cuisine). * Pho Soup - was oily, water downed, bland & the noodle portions were EXTREMELY small (~ the size of one fist). * Bánh Mì - bread was toasted so hard that it scraped and tore at the roof of my mouth. The bun itself was super short & had 90% bun to 10% filling ratio. * Lemongrass Vermicelli bowl - felt like eating a ghetto salad. The Vermicelli noodles were the fake Americanized fat noodles, very bland as none of the fish sauce stuck to them, & was very hard to eat with the random "salad" that it sat upon. Not even adding additional sauces could make me swallow. The Lemongrass Chicken had an aight flavorful but was dry. * Fried spring rolls (4 pieces) - were hard and chewy. Never have I ever been so disappointed in quality, portion sizes, and the fact that this restaurant could mess up MULTIPLE dishes. Will not ever come back again. read more

Good, fast, convenient. They have plates, salads and sides in addition to sandwiches. But if you are looking for a really great Bun Mi sandwich, and you have an extra 15 minutes or so, go to Valley Sandwich on south of there, near Sherman Way, on Reseda. read more

First time trying Bun Me! and it was really good. There's a big parking lot in front with lots of spaces. I placed an order for pick up on the phone and got there about 20 minutes later, and it was a super easy process. I tried the chicken banh mi and really liked it! I love the special sauce inside. OMG this place has the best Bun Bo Hue EVER!!! The taste is very authentic. My wife was looking for a place to eat bun bo hue, and we did not want to drive down to Orange County to try it. We found this place on yelp with excellent reviews. Also it was literally 5 minutes away from our work and home. The price for the bun bo hue is a bit expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants but it taste much better. I 100% willing to pay extra for the great food. We also got the Thai ice tea it is good as well. The bun bo hue is not spicy but you can request for the small chili container and add it in. They gave us two tiny containers, we both added them in and wow it was super spicy. Just let it sit for awhile and the heat will kick up. The plaza is located on Reseda, near CSUN. There's lots of food and venues. Parking can be hard to find but we just got lucky. Majority of the customers are American with some Asian. The store has 6 small tables inside and 2 out in front. You would order and pay then they'll bring you your food. The cashier does speak Vietnamese and English. I think it's a great place to go for authentic bun bo hue. They do have other food from banh mi to spring rolls. Once you finish just leave the plates as is and they will clean it up for you. If you want to leave and tip place it in the tip jar in front of the cashier not on the table. I will be back with my friends and family for your delicious bun bo hue. This place is a true gem in the valley due to their amazing food and customer service. I really love their caramelized pork banh mi sandwich and beef stew. It's too bad dining here is not allowed due to Covid because the sandwiches taste the best when it's crisp and fresh. Getting it to-go wrapped up causes them to be a little soft/soggy. Be careful of the jalapeño pepper. Also, I don't recommend getting the bun bo hue because it lacks variety like pork balls, pork blood, etc. but the soup flavor is good. I ordered the lemon grass chicken. The sandwich was delicious! I ate half for lunch and half for dinner so it was filling to me. I also ordered the sweet potatoe fries. Unfortunately those were cold when I got home but nothing my air fryer couldn't fix. I'd say $5 is pretty steep for the small amount given, and no ranch offered. That would be my only pet peeve. This isn't a place I would bring my mother to. She would scoff and make snide comments about how she could do it better... But you know what? It's actually pretty good. Shhhh!!! Don't tell her I said that. I know its not the most authentic Viet food, but its pretty darn tasty. They have sweet potato fries, banh mi's (chicken one is really good), pho, and bun bo hue! They even have boba! I study at the starbucks next to it with my friend Julie, so I'll most definitely be back for a quick snack before diving into the books. read more

This has become my current favorite place to grab some Ban Mi. I really like their five spice pork Ban Mi. It's a nice refreshing sandwich to have with some awesome flavors. It reminds me of the Ban Mi I used to have at Dragon Eats in SF. read more

I've heard great things abt this place and had it bookmarked since I took a job at CSUN. Arrived around 1205pm on a Wednesday. There was no line when we walked in luckily!! All the tables were full but once we got our food a table cleared. It's a small dining area and also during at the beginning of a lunch rush. I had the pork bun me! It was perfect. I asked for extra veggies but nothing about it seemed extra. The bread must have been baked fresh! I even saved half for the next day in the fridge and it was just as good. A little pricey tho when lees sandwiches are half the price. Next visit I'll have to try the pho! read more

This Bun Me is fantastic. Now and than I like to find a good deal just about anywhere I dine. I've been here a few times and food is solid. Everything is inexpensively priced (under $8) and the portions are just right. It's nestled inside a strip mall next to PizzaRev on Reseda Blvd. The tiny store front serves up excellent Vietnamese banh mi style sandwiches, savory rice plates and noodle bowls, including pho (soup). Unfortunately, the place is small and seating is limited to a few small tables (6 inside and 2 outside). It's a popular dining spot for CSUN students and locals during lunch and dinner hours so I suggest you get here early or take it to go. Make sure to check out there weekly specials - The special longanisa and sweet sausage bun is outstanding. The soft baguette are perfectly toasted and warm. Oh how I loved sweet juicy, succulent pork sausage stuffed with vegetables and mayo. So magnificent and yummy! During my recent visit, I ordered the spring rolls and pho ga (chicken soup). The fried crispy springs rolls were fantastic. The texture of the wrapping and flavors of the vegetable/meat stuffing was fresh, flavorful and good quality. I really enjoyed vinegar base dipping sauce that accompanied it. The perfect balance of sweet, salty and sourness enhancing the flavor of the spring rolls. The best I've tasted from any Vietnamese restaurant. And who doesn't enjoy a hot piping bowl of Vietnamese chicken pho? Bun Me's Pho Ga was fresh, flavorful and made to order, including all the accoutrements (lime, bean sprouts, cilantro and slithered jalapeño). The perfect winter comfort food or for curing a cough which I happen to have. Simply wonderful and aromatic! They even serve refreshing boba drinks. There passion fruit ice tea with boba is delicious. The staff is friendly and the place is very clean. Definitely check this place out. Finally gave this spot a try and discovered that I'd much rather drive a lil further down reseda to get a better banh mi.. I tried their #1 deli special .. Decent at best.. Bread wasn't fresh, just merely toasted & most likely bought from a local supermarket .. Meat was lacking in flavor.. The char siu was just extra pink and wet, pate was also this weird pink color and slices of the pork roll were super thin and flavorless The veggies weren't pickled and I got a center slice of the cucumber where it's just super wet soggy seeds.. The restaurant is small enough where the orders shouldn't be messed up but they had given my order to someone else first.. Call me pickey but I'm just not crazy about having my open sandwich on someone else's table for a bit and then having it brought straight to me Also, their prices being higher than most banh mi spots and not being as good nor as filling is a no go in my book! They do include three shrimp chips with each sandwich when ordered to dine in.. But I'd rather them not include those and focus on the banh mi instead. They also serve Pho, Spring rolls, Summer rolls, Boba drinks and many more items. The eating area is quite small which consists of 6 tables in the inside and two tables on the outside. It tends to get really busy and packed during lunch hour when students from CSUN eat there for lunch. You might/might not get a table to sit down to eat. I was in the area and looking for a quick bite. The rating for this place was pretty high. I asked about their bahn mi and settled for the chicken. I sat outside since there were no seating available inside. The place is small. It was over 90 outside. They brought the sandwich out to me and I ate it quickly (thank goodness it was delicious). It was reasonably priced and delicious! I would highly recommend this place if you're in the area. Hopefully they can get a bigger location. It's hard to eat pho and a hot bahn mi outside. Wow love this place. First time here and everything was amazing. My mouth is on fire right now after drinking the Spicy Bun Bo Hue. I did add some extra chili paste and sriracha too The lady that took our order was so nice and she helped answer some questions being it was our first time at this place. We ordered the Steak sandwich and the Pork one. Both incredibly flavorful and the meat was tender and juicy. I prefer the Steak one, but that's just me. Both had jalapeño so they had a nice kick Along with that we got the Spicy Bun Bo Hue and it was so good! There's no dining or outdoor seating at the time so of course we took it to go and they did a great job at parking the soup and the condiments separately and securely. No spills at all. Oh yea and the Thai tea was so goooood! I didn't get the boba in it but you get the option of adding some if you want.
