I have been stopping in at Bull Moose Guns for years now. They recently changed their name to Bull Moose Tactical to reflect a change in ownership. Stopping in is like stepping back in time, to the days before it was all about being a business transaction and into a time when you felt appreciated as a customer, even if you were just browsing. And you never know what you would find in their inventory. 100 year old milsurp? Got it. Current tactical firearms? Yes. Everything in-between? Absolutely. With their constantly changing selection of new and used firearms, it is worth stopping just to see what they have in inventory. I have purchased firearms from them and have taken my time looking them over, talked with the staff about them and have always been satisfied with the deals they offered. Someone commented that they felt cheated by not getting much for a firearm they sold to Bull Moose, and I get it. The most you should expect is about 50% of the average sale price on recent completed auctions. This means if you take the gun that you paid $600 for to them, and they see that used it will sell for around $400 online, you can expect at MOST $200. Sure, $200 for a $600 gun can seem like you are getting hosed, but that is not just this shop. That is any shop that needs to warranty and assume the risk of being able to even sell the gun at all. In fact, most shops I have dealt with are closer to 25% to 33% of recent sales value, so you'd get even less than $200 most places. In the end, this is a great place to browse, talk, compare and feel no pressure as you look for the best fit for your needs. Unprofessional. They always have employees coming and going, why? Probably due to the fact the owner is very old school and always ripping people off. Low balling offers to all his customers making sure he makes at least a profit of at LEAST 50%; therefore sell your weapons and ammo somewhere you'll get your money's worth. Independent gun shops are supposed to be welcoming of their locals and giving them the best deals. NOT THIS ONE! I would recommend going to any other gun shop or even gun and pawn shops. At least, there you have a chance of getting more for your weapons! read more

Do Not purchase from them they misrepresent items they sell and will not make it right claim to be experts in old firearms nothing but excuses this is a description from their web site Spanish Modelo 1916 SKU: 20.9.297 Spanish Modelo 1916 chambered in 7mm Mauser. This rifle is in excellent condition overall. Cosmetically this rifle is excellent. The wood furniture is in excellent condition and it has not been refinished. There is a nice patina on the metal parts, as well as a high percent of deep high polish bluing remaining. The bore is bright and mirror-like with strong lands and grooves. Mechanically this rifle is excellent and functions the way it should. The stock matches the receiver but the bolt does not. This rifle is not import marked. It is not every day one finds a Spanish Mauser in this condition, this would make an excellent addition to a Mauser collection. C&R eligible! The wood has been refinished. This isa older import firearm and was refinished by importers. Also they claim NO import marks found them light stamped under barrel in plain view After receiving rifle fedex called shop and they said nothing they can do BAD BUSINESS please dont buy from them read more

I've only been here once so far, but I was so pleased with the help I received that I decided to make a Yelp page for Bull Moose Guns and leave them a nice review. Although I didn't buy anything, the employees were very friendly and inviting. They answered all of my questions and gave me some helpful advice. Bull Moose Guns has a great selection of historical firearms, but they also have modern firearms and are willing to order anything you are looking for. They also offer CCW classes, and they do transfers for $20. My short visit left me impressed, and I'll be back for sure. read more

Great staff, helped me during my purchasing process with proper safety advice, demonstrated and showed me how to safely and properly handle my new purchase. They're very knowledgeable and answered all questions I had on my new purchase and safety questions I had. Shop is clean and prices are decent. They don't cut corners and are straightforward. I had a gun transferred here and was very impressed with the shop and the employees. It was my first gun purchase but I was immediately made to feel welcomed in the shop. Both employees were very kind, patient, and knowledgeable as we went through the transfer paperwork and they looked over my gun. They were genuinely excited about my first gun purchase, which was really cool and really helped make the experience even better. I would certainly return to this shop for other gun needs and I highly recommend it to others. It was also awesome that their transfer fee was $25, which was half the price compared to some other shops in the area. Saw their ad on Craigslist about buying guns so decided to check them out as I had some weapons I wanted to sell. They offered about 35-40% of retail (I noticed that the retails on their weapons seemed higher than normal). I always want to support the independent shops but their offers were a ripoff. When they were checking my rifle they incorrectly removed the bolt causing the safety to be misaligned. Gunsmith could not install & tried to force jamming the bolt. I asked him to stop & just give me back the rifle. I took it home, freed the bolt and realigned the safety on the bolt and it slid right into the receiver. 5 minutes & I am not a gunsmith. I will not come back. read more

I bought a universal m1 carbine from you at a show you were at in Raleigh. You sold me a useless gun since the receiver is broken never was able to shoot it since I noticed it before I was able to. Who ever looks over your firearms before you sell them should be fired I paid way too much for a paper holder very unhappy. read more

I had the privilege of taking my concealed permit class. The instructors Stefan and Mark kept the class simple yet very informative. The range time was quick but they were very helpful and patient. They took the time to help individually when I needed it. I am thinking about taking other courses that these gentlemen teach. I recently discovered this hidden gem. The owners were extremely nice, friendly, and helpful. They have a great deal of antique and older long guns but also have some used and new handguns. $20 transfers are a bonus. The have reasonable prices on ammo and a small selection of assessories. They specialize in gunsmith work and older long guns. The store is very clean and attractive. I look forward to my next visit and giving them my business. read more
