It is not fancy but it makes up for that with a 4 bay outdoor shooting range, a part-time shooting instructor who can teach not only SC Concealed Weapons course but also beginner shooting and advanced shooting classes. They also have a large selection of used handguns, rifles and shotguns. They can order guns and they have a reasonable transfer fee. They are personable and "old school" friendly. They are welcoming to all - beginner, advanced, women, children with a parent and anyone interested in the shooting sports. There are signs directing you to Pappy's from the start of Tinkers Creek Road. This is also the home of Central Carolina's Shooting Club that has Steel Challenge matches on the first Saturday of each month and IDPA matches on the second Saturday of each month. Sign up is through Practiscore.com. I always enjoy going there often to keep up my shooting skills. You should do the same. Price is reasonable, paper targets can be bought there or you can bring your own. There are some metal targets on the range. Please do not shoot the metal targets with rifle caliber ammo. Always practice safety. Absolutely no alcohol allowed!

This is illogical in many ways and contradictory to their stated values of patriotism and pro-military. I flew to Matthews to visit family and wanted to shoot with them. Just to get through airport security now a driver's license isn't adequate, so I used my military ID, which is considered an Enhanced ID. It has a scan code for a national database and carries a higher reliability for citizens in good standing than does a driver's license, which sadly can even be obtained by illegal aliens and felons. The man at the range counter was sympathetic since he was a Marine, and he asked his manager, but the manager declined to accept the ID. I would like to have talked with the manager but he wouldn't talk to me about it.

Why this ended up as a three-star rating is that although their training programs are super, their store offers a limited selection of weapons, accessories and ammunition. A lot of that is economy dependent and might improve when the economy does. They do have weapon repair services and I did have a sight replaced with quick turn around.
