Builders First Source in Issaquah has a delivery driver that is purely racist and has made racist comments against the Indian community while delivering supplies to my home today. He was impatient and rude and was insulted by my presence as an Indian and did not treat me with any humanity. His angry demeanor for having to wait less than five minutes after his arrival call (see VM snapshot and doorbell camera times) and wanting to make a forceful delivery while a car was parked in my driveway was unacceptable . For absolutely no reason, while i was trying to communicate that i was going to take the car out and that i had just a minute back seen his message and stepped out, he got super angry and cursed me for being late to respond and called out that he has to deal with all Indians this way and that he would not deliver. He was insulted by my presence and even wanted to call the cops on me because I came closer to him. A very insecure and ignorant person who has no right to be representing BFS should be let go of his job duties with no remorse. Horrible horrible horrible. I can't say enough how un professional this place is. We usually deal with Dunn lumber and arrow lumber. Both are fantastic and easy to deal with. Bmc on the other hand is a nightmare. We ordered a framing package and windows from them for a 3100 sq foot house and had floor framing show up without the beams, wall packages without sheathing, half of the framing lumber was warped and had to be sent back. Items were missed everywhere. Deck showed up with basement framing. WHATTTTTT?!?! They have been transitioning people in and out of the business and the customers get caught in the middle. We didn't get responses 3 times on critical questions for framing orders, window order and deck orders. Come to find out 3 different people we were working with had either quit or been fired and no one followed up on their accounts. Pretty hard to keep a project going on time when you have to deal with nonsense from the supplier. I would work with another company. read more

I would like to thank Mike Hutchinson, Regional Manager over BMC Building Materials & Construction Solutions Truss Plants and Ed Warner Designer for going above and beyond in their customer service in helping a client of mine out of a very difficult situation. My clients home suffered extensive structural damage during a fire. The home was constructed with floor trusses, originally made by Anderson Components. All together there were 15 floor trussed burned beyond repair. At a time when construction is at an all time high and delays for roof and floor trusses are a standard 10 to 12 weeks, Mr. Hutchinson took my call. He was empathetic to the fact that the owners were staying in a hotel because there were no homes available to rent. In Dec. 2018 I purchased Anderson windows from BMC for a new custom home. We ordered grilles and the windows installed with no grilles. The single hung windows came with no screens. I was assured this would be corrected soon. On June 21st, grilles were installed and they cracked one window. They sent screens , wrong size. They came last week August 22, repaired the cracked window. Shipped wrong size screens again. So, we are into the ninth month, the job is still not complete! read more

I'm so happy I stopped by BMC Lumber today! I got the best service from Gabe Gorfkle that have ever received at a big box store or any other lumber company in the area. Gabe Gorfkle not only walked me over to the crown molding and baseboard trim, he answered all my questions patiently and explained the differences between the fir and the hemlock. He not only helped me choose the many pieces I needed, he wrapped them in plastic and placed them carefully in my Tahoe and stapled the required red flag to the end. Thanks to Gabe, it was a totally pleasant shopping experience, and I feel he went above and beyond his normal duties to make sure I got what I needed. I think one star is too generous. I walked around the windows and door area searching for help. Found the window employees (6 people) standing around a desk. The receptionist said they had been in a meeting for an hour and could "probably" help me in 30 minutes. Hopefully they were meeting about how how to improve customer service. I would say their customer service is bad but you can't assign an adjective to something that does NOT exist. BMC Issaquah is the most unhelpful and difficult place to do business in Seattle. I am a contractor and we usually use Dunn Lumber. We're building a home right next to BCM Issaquah. So, I thought I'd use them. What could go wrong?? They assign a "sales consultant" to contractors. This "consultant' Lyndon, never returned a single call or communication the same day. I had to call him back multiple times and he would only call me once I called the office to complain that he had not responded for days... On top of that he messed up 3 orders. Sent the wrong material that we had to return. Now after a week of calling I get in touch with Lyndon who tells me that today is his last day and he's going to Parr Lumber sighting all the inefficiencies and lack of professionalism at BMC Issaquah (duh). So, Lyndon says that (my latest $30K) shipment of lumber is delayed. Of course, he can't provide a date and says I need to talk to my new account rep who they will assign. So after several days I call in and ask who is my "new account rep" and they have no idea what I am talking about. After 20 mins and finally talking to a manager he assures me that an account rep will be assigned today and they will update me on the status of my order. So, I wait and wait. Days later I call in and try to find out who my account rep is. No one will answer the phone. I leave messages over and over to no avail. Finally, I drive down to BMC Issaquah and go in at 4:00pm on a Thursday. I am the only person there. Not one other customer and the 2 people "working there" are standing in the isles talking and ignore me until I walk over and ask them if they work here... At first they say "No.... haha" then ask ok what do you need. I told them I need to buy some lumber but mainly want to check on my order. Then they tell me "Sorry we can't help you. You have to go to our contractor services dept". Really you can't just sell me this lumber first. "Sorry dude no way". So, I go back to "contractor sales". It's just after 4pm and the place is deserted. I walk through yelling "HELLO IS ANYONE HERE". No answer. After 5 minutes of yelling finally someone comes in from the Wearhouse. I ask where everyone is and he replies "Oh they must have gone home early". He says that Soneone should be here. Then he walks down a short hallway and says here's someone. There was a person in the back office COMPLETELY IGNORING my yells for help. Not even poking his head out to say come back tomorrow. He's on the phone "supposedly" and the Wearhouse person says he can help you when he's off the phone. So, I sit and wait 20 minutes for him to talk about the weather and his favorite TV shows and how he hates his job. Then when he hangs up the phone I go walking in the office as he's dialing the phone and ignoring me. I say "HEY, I've been waiting here for 30 minutes". "He says too bad. I am busy". Too busy to help a customer?? So I tell him I've been calling for weeks and finally had to drive down here. He says and I quote "Well, I don't know what to tell you. I am busy and I am not going to help you. Go see if the guys at the front desk can help you." REALLY I said "They sent me to you." His reply.... "Oh Well". So now I call can call again repeatedly. I just left ANOTHER voice mail for the manager and again have not heard back. I can't contact someone. I can't find out the status of my 30K order. I can't even reach someone to cancel the order so I can order it somewhere ELSE!! They are a joke to do business with. Also, the quality of their lumber is the worst I've ever seen. I will post pictures. Bottom line is this is how they treat a contractor who spends 100s of thousands of dollars on materials. Their customer service is beyond bad, it would be laughable if it was not my money. If this is how they treat contractors who've spent massive amounts of money imagine how they will treat the average homeowner just spending a couple thousand. Avoid this company like the plague. Even Home Depot is 100 times more reliable and easier to do business with and I consider them the bottom of the barrel. Use Parr or Dunn Lumber. Don't make the same mistake I did. If you want to avoid a nightmare service experience and endless frustration then go somewhere else. Anywhere else. BMC Issaquah is the last place you should consider buying lumber from. I was in a pickle to get a replacement window lock to satisfy a closing requirement for the sale of our house. With the current environment, everybody was closed except for BMC. I was able to get in touch with Denise Arivett in windows and although it is not a typical deal (being such a small request), she helped me right away. I sent her pictures of the part I needed, with the expectation that it would take a week or so to order. Turns out she had the part in stock and got it to me for an unbeatable price. I might change this if my order ever goes through but until then, this might just take the cake for the worst customer experience that I've ever had. I'm trying to order a simple door and have called BMC multiple times and given my order information to St least two people on several occasions. Maybe they try to remember it all in their head since they end up calling me back asking me for the same details that I provided them with earlier. A simple customer tracking system or employee training might fix this. I've now literally waited for over a month with no actual delivery date specified for my order. Luckily my business doesn't depend on using BMC because I'd be really nervous if it did. I can't review the actual finished product because I never received it nor do I know if it ever will arrive. But I'll keep up hope for another week or so before giving up and going with another dealer. Recommendations welcome. read more

I had to go pick up some mill work for a project at work. My boss likes to send me to do these things without any details. I went down here to pick it up without knowing where it was etc. The guy up front took a while to figure out that I needed to go to the back will call. Not a big deal, I just wish they had a better system in place to look it up instead of going through a stack of paper work. The guy in back, wish I would have gotten his name, but he was so patient and helpful. It was a cluster and not his fault what so ever. He was kind enough to speak directly to my boss on my phone to get everything figured out. He made sure to load it up and tie it down very well as well as wrap it so that it would not get wet. I provided I then went to margins reps at their website They gave me all info but ask why am I coming to them as only bc can sell to me... I said this is 3 week for 1 window and only now may I do so... You make windows I want to buy a window...get it? So bc prices after I did all work and I said that is too much ... Your crazy... So I checked with former employee who sold windows for them for many years... He said yea that ain't right. So I called again saying this is a good used car parked in a rough opening... These guys have some great quality STRAIGHT lumber with a professional easy going team to boot!!. I won't be buying from the local hardware stores anymore that's for sure!!! Jim and Gabe have a great crew that were eager and quick to get me loaded. I felt bad standing around watching while the forklift operators loaded my truck but it lasted a whole two minutes and I was on my way! I want to thank Adam, at Issaquah's Lowe's. He was so helpful in finding screws that would fit my chair to support the legs. I purchased a chair from Wayfair received it, minus the leg screws, which Adam informed me, it was a usual situation from Wayfair and IKEA. He was beyond patient and personally helped me find the proper screws, so I could finally have a standing chair! I'm a senior lady and having such a wonderful helper, made my day! I'm able to meet my clients there, or send them to meet with staff, to browse windows, doors, millwork, decking, etc. I've shopped here for over ten years and have never been disappointed with both pricing and service. This would have been a 5 star review if my experience was consistent across the board with all the staff. I had a few interactions with staff (manager) at the Issaquah branch that were less than satisfactory. HOWEVER... one employee at BMC has always brought me back for my construction needs. That employee is Gabe. I don't know his last name (I must be a terrible person... ) Despite the several times that the customer experience could have been better with others, Gabe has always extended himself to make sure that my needs were met. Even stepping in to take over for someone else, who is clearly struggling. Whether it is an odious job, like my poorly catalogued material lists, or a return of materials just before the end of his shift, Gabe has always strived to answer my questions and provide superb customer service. If I were opening a business/building a brand, I would hire Gabe in an instant! It just goes to show what ONE hard working, excellent employee can do for your company. read more

First order with their Denver, CO location had 4 doors out of 17 get delivered that were the incorrect hang, bore, or the wrong door all together. Massive delays and lack of communication and confirmation of that communication. Second order took over a month just to get the order placed on 2 doors that were the same as the previous order. Again, massive delays and lack of communication. When I did receive one of the doors I was told the other door was delayed again and when one door was delivered they other door was delivered also. BMC didn't even know they had the door and that it was delivered. Complete incompetence, laziness, and/or indifference from BMC and it's staff. It doesn't matter which one because the results are all the same. If you plan on getting your job done on schedule BMC will be the company that delays that from happening. read more

I have never written a bad review before but this was the worse service I have ever received. We received the wrong color of windows, we had 1 broken window and a door that doesn't lock. We called for almost 2 weeks straight and never had someone call us back. After 2 weeks they decided to give us a very small credit. We spend over 22k with them and they treated us like crap. They supplied most materials for a house I built a couple years ago, and did a decent job though delivered a lot of crap lumber which needed to be exchanged. Recently I went back to them to request replacement windows as a start on an old house we are updating. My contacts from the past are all gone, and I couldn't get a rep on the phone or a call back from email/voicemail after several tries. Either a few thousand dollar order is too small for them now, or they have completely given up on staying in business. (Ended up going to Classic Window Products in Kirkland, who answer the phone when you call & were extremely professional and prompt). read more

Ordered over 25k in cabinets from them 2 years ago. Had hardware issues w two drawers so went to the cabinet department for assistance on ordering proper replacement parts. Selection is fine (because you will be left to do your own picking!) but absolutely no effort is made by ANYONE. Like a previous reviewer said, it feels like they don't want your business. No matter who you ask a question, they will pawn you off on someone else who doesn't want to help you either. Dave in millworks is the worst, that guy never has patience for customers but always finds time for cigarette breaks. It sucks to have such a great resource so close to home only to get eye rolls with every question or assistance. Can someone please bring back the old BMC?!? read more

Money in hand for a major kitchen remodel, I went in person to BMC to sit down with a designer with the hopes to remodel my kitchen on Jan 27. I didn't get a basic layout on paper with them until Feb 10 after my GC called them. After that it has been sporadic non motivated emails responding to me 6-7 days apart from my emails and phone calls. The Rep won't return a phone call with a phone call just email. I actually called and emailed asking for a quicker pace to designing my kitchen and got an email back over a week later. My last communication from them was February 20th. I've tried to use this business but I have no idea what they have to offer because they obviously don't want my money. read more

Nick is the worst kitchen cabinet sales person ever. DO NOT USE BMC WEST! I made an appt for Nick to give me an estimate on redoing my kitchen cabinets, he scheduled it for 2 pm on February 23rd, a good time for me & my husband to take off work & meet him at our home. 2:30 came and went, I called the front desk and the lady said he was at lunch(she wasn't very friendly) I explained that I had an appt. with him and needed to know if he was going to make it. She said all she could do was leave him a message. He called me at 4pm and actually said he had SPACED our appt. & wanted to know if he could come sometime the following week. I asked why he couldn't just come out and he reluctantly agreed to stop by on his way home. He finally showed up at 4:30 and was very rude, boy did we inconvenience him. He said he'd have our estimate the next week. I called twice and he finally got back to me 3 weeks later & said he was working on it still. On March 30th I ended up walking into the building to physically talk to him, he said he was still working on it and I should give him another week. I went back again on April 3rd, the front desk gal let him know I was there but he wouldn't come talk to me & I left after waiting 25 minutes. Nick has never once reached out to me or followed up with me. I still never received an estimate and it's now May 12th....almost 3 months have passed. He is the worst and I don't see how the owners of BMC allow him to get away with treating their customers so poorly. This valley is too small and I understand everyone is busy right now but what happens when it slows down and you've pissed off a bunch of people??? read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I went there because we are redoing our countertops and noticed that one cabinet had some serious water damage. The cabinets in our kitchen are kraftmade and we were directed here by the website. Bottom line I need one 36" cabinet and 5 minutes of someone's time to tell me what color, wood and style the current cabinet is. I am ready to order now. The first time I went in there was no one around to help. The second time I went in was told they are Ssooooo busy with other projects that it would be 7 days before someone could help us. I thought to myself in the 5-10 minutes it has taken you to tell me this you could have taken an order for a cabinet. Apparently they have so much work and don't need the business so don't go here.
