My husband and I came here when they opened on Saturday to come and buy a bear for our gender reveal! They were hosting what looked like a birthday party so it was fairly busy but we we really appreciated that there was always an employee ready to assist us as well. My husband and I picked out an adorable brown bear, stuffed it, gave it love, and made the birth certificate. Then we picked out one girl outfit and one boy outfit. We gave our gender reveal envelope to them and they had us step outside for about 10 minutes so they can ring up the correct items and pack our build a bear away in it's home. Both employees Carol and Knox were so friendly throughout the entire experience and took extra precautions to make sure the gender stayed a secret until our reveal. The products here are great. School age and preschool kiddos love them. My issue with this location is the very high sales approach. Recently when I went to this store with a child, I declined the upsells of extra options for the bear. The store employee kept asking if we wanted to add additional features as we went along with the creating the bear process. while I was declining the options, she began asking the child directly if she wanted these extras. That approach puts an adult or parent in a very difficult situation, since what child will say no to all the extras? I don't agree with that sales tactic of essentially overriding a parent/adult statement and going to the child. read more

The bonus club is free, and I brought my baby in during her birthday month and got a cute teddy! Fun environment, and there are lots of options for add-ons such as music, a beating heart, clothes and accessories. The Thurs 07/12/18 Pay Your Child's Age promotion caused hundreds in line waiting for hours for the deal. They opened at 9am and the mall itself does not open until 10am but clearly many (hundreds!) came early, and I speculate maybe even 6am or so based on the existing line we faces at 9am that went from the Build A Bear store, down to and through the food court, then routed outside into the parking structure near Macy's and it seemed very slow moving, as many customers did not register for the free Build a Bear membership (you can do that on advance online) to qualify for the offer (pay the age of your child $1-$29 per stuffed animal) I think the purpose of this promotion was not to give away bears cheap be cause a branding visual and scene at the retail stores. Otherwise they could have had a way better system, including just handing out coupons to the "while supplies last" quantity number and have people wait, come back later or return at an assigned timeframe rather than have hundreds of impatient kids and their aggravated parents wait in line for hours not knowing how long they have to wait to get their item. So, I can't blame Build a Bear for their motivation to make people earn their discount by being visual props as well as registering online for inclusion into their marketing database. We opted to decline waiting, since time is a valuable asset and it was hard to justify waiting for hours with kids for a savings of less than $30 which is a fantastic deal if you are willing to pay your dues and wait. read more

Visited for a 4 year birthday party. I never would have thought to do this for a party, but the kids had so much fun. Knox did an awesome job keeping the kids engaged and moving through the bear making process. The girls had such a great time. My son and his girlfriend went to build-a-bear a few days ago for a date night before they both leave for college. They wanted to each get a bear and record messages for each other. The employee who was working there stood over them while they did their recordings saying he wanted to make sure they didn't say anything "vulgar" and then listened to their messages after they were done recording. I am not sure if it is company protocol for employees to be required to listen to these personal messages but this made my son extremely uncomfortable and sure seems like an invasion of privacy as far as I am concerned. This made a sweet date night turn into an uncomfortable and awkward experience for both of them. Super disappointing... read more

Normally I'd give this place and it's employees a 5/5, I'm a frequent. But today my boyfriend and I had the most awkward build a bear experience either of us have ever had. We went in to build a bear today around noon, there was only one worker who completely ignored us as we waited in line to stuff our bear, we got ignored for upwards of 5 minutes, which was weird. Other customers walked in the store and also got ignored. When she finally turned around and actually helped us, she was very quiet during the stuffing process when usually employees are very friendly and try to strike up conversation! And when it came to the heart ceremony, my boyfriend and I wanted to each put a heart in the bear which mind you has never previously been an issue at any build a bear location we have been to, but she stared at us and just said "uhhh actually it's just one heart." We listened, didn't want to argue, but it's never been an issue before. We thanked her when she was done tying up the bear and walked away. When it came to checkout she did the usual, ask for the number, offer us a gift card, but she never told us the total and just stood in silence waiting for us to swipe our cards. Overall super awkward, unfortunately do not remember her name. Her name tag started with an S and she had green glasses. All I can suggest is that she needs a bit more training on how to act with customers. Won't prevent me from stopping by again but I'd appreciate a more friendly experience next time. read more

Went in too get my niece a gift Cheyenne & Imelda were there to greet me and answer my questions, Cheyenne was very informative and attentive they didn't have the product there however she let me order it and ship it to me which I thought was awesome and convenient, her demeanor and her approachability was superb, Imelda was awesome as well both very social and kind. Kids have been busting our butts to take them for a build a bear. finally decided to go. lots of choices, lots of options for the kids to put together a fun bear. Now the cost, ouch, for sure mall prices. we got two "bears",one dyno and one rabbit, with a few options and the bill came to $90, OUCH. 90 for two stuffed animals. Now don't get me wrong , as far as stuffed animals go, these are the Beverly Hills 90210 of stuff animals. you can choose your style, then have it stuffed, then pick a smell, yes i said smell, then a sound, then have them put a heart in it. They even have dresses, shoes, hats, outfits etc you get the picture, crazy options to choose from. But thats how the cost adds up. all those little options are a few dollars each. The staff was super nice and explained the process and how it all works and goes together. Lucky we had a gift card for $45, so after our gift card, the two bears were only about $40, not that bad. But with out that it would be close to $100. so dont go in thinking its going to be $20 and done. Kids love them so all good.... read more

I mean, what can I say! It's BABWS! COVID-19 - There was a line at the door due to social distance practices. They weren't allowing too many people in the store at once. All the employees wore masks and made sure there was minimal exchange between the customer and them. They placed our new studies in the box as they were done with adding hearts and voice boxes so we didn't grab them from their hands. Although, No one wore gloves. Once finished with the stuffing and inserting of the hearts and stuff it was BAB as usual. We were able to pick out/ touch our own items that we wanted to purchase but if we touched it and didn't want it. We merely put it back. Not sure how safe that sounds anymore. They did remove the computers in the back so customers have no access to typing so that was cool. The lady who did all our stuffing had us think of a name right then and there so she can add it on the label and the cashier only needs to look at the tag to get information to print the certificate. Would've been a smooth transaction had the employee spelled names right LOL but that was a small fete. Other than that, it's BAB!! read more

My 6 and 9 year olds had a great time creating a Toothless (How to Train Your Dragon) stuffed animal! We went in mid-week and there was no wait. The girls working here were very sweet and helpful and made the experience special . This place needs to be looked into , my wife and son visited this location and were in line just like anybody else and Cheyenne who was very rude , let customers cut right in front of everybody . A lighter toned family showed up and was attended before any darker skinned toned family . And then we let her know and she yelled very abruptly telling us to wait our turn that we were next ? Like what ? We were in line the whole time , definitely some type of racism . 4/20/19: Came here with my boyfriend before they closed at around 8PM to get a bear for our one month anniversary together :) Cheesy, i know, but it's my boyfriend's first relationship haha. The lady helping us pump stuffing into Charlie (that's what we named him) was super nice and made the experience great. We also spent extra time to wash him at the "washing" station, and spent a little extra money to put a strawberry scent into the bear, as well as pick out an underwear for him. Ive been coming here for years now and finally had a bad/ awkward experience. There was no one on the floor when i was shopping which was a bit odd, but by the time i checked out the lady who helped me started cutting off all the tags to my items. This has never happened to me before which confused me. She was thin, short and had glasses. She gave me attitude when she put the tags back on, even when she gave the receipt she threw it in the bag and turned around and left. Made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Man this place, from a kids perspective probably pretty awesome but from an adult's... So overpriced. They literally have so much a la cart items it is crazy. Voice boxes, beating hearts, shoes, underwear, glasses, hats, roller skates... You name it they have it. Their sales associates are really good at hustling those little kids too, like "oOoo do you like this or what else are you going to get for your bear, they would sure look good in this shirt, or this hat". Luckily our children were pretty pumped with what they had, and we didn't have to go crazy though I put a limit on what they could get. Again it is all about the kids so whatever makes them happy, but so much more could be done with the money you spend in these places. Also the location is at one of the busiest malls I have ever been to. Good Gravy this mall is a jungle and good luck with parking. read more

It was around 8pm I'm sure the girls were tired , but you wouldn't know it , all of the girls were so sweet , helpful and gave me the advice l needed . I must say, I had a great time here... First time customer of this business in general and for my first experience I had the pleasure of working with Fredy (yes, spelled with one D), a friendly, fun and extremely pleasant staff member of this business. I wanted to get my fiance something as she was dealing with a lot of stress and I knew from the beginning I wanted to get her a toothless (How to Train your Dragons). Fredy showed me the entire process from putting the heart on the table and picking out key characteristics of your animal to placing him on a table to create his birth certificate. The stuffing process is really cool to watch and I was shown exactly what children get to go through which was pretty awesome! They have a large variety of 'extras' you can add, such as voices and scents. I purchased a strawberry scent for toothless and a heart-shaped button that actually beats like a heart when pressed. It's also pretty awesome that they put a bar-code inside of the animal in case it gets lost and returned to a build-a-bear workshop. All in all, my first and only experience here was amazing. The place was extremely clean, very vibrant in colors and a friendly up-lifting staff. I think I wound up paying $37... not somewhere I'd go often as I don't have children, but it'd be a wise decision to come in here for your kids, significant other or just to check the place out! read more

I came here with my grandkids so that they can build their own bears. We were immediately greeted as we walked through the front doors of the store. The associate who greeted us told us where to start and where to go. He explained what every station was for. He had a very nice demeanor. We picked the shells of the beats and started moving through to the outfits before we looked at the line for the stuffing. That's when we decided that we would come back a different time. Lol. The line was super long out the doors. They had really good deals such as 2 for $35. The outfits were so expensive though. One dress was close to $20 if not more. read more

We are seasoned BAB patrons and let me tell you, for me, BAB is all about the layout. I have to be able to get through with a stroller which contains a toddler that wants to grab at everything and a twirling 6 year old who wants to dress her new special friend in pink, pink and more pink! This store has a great layout, it is one floor and fairly small, so you can find what you want without too much distraction. The staff here is super friendly and always trying to please your little ones. The specials they have had lately are amazing, I would sign up for their store card, which is free, so that you can get coupons in the mail to use on top of their specials. They have wardrobe boxes behind the counter which are free, I would also recommend you ask for one of these and extra hangers so that your child can better organize their bear's accessories =) read more

I thought I could just pay the $1 difference, NO! They would not do that. So we had to buy a whole separate outfit. My qualm is with their inability to allow me to use the allocated party dollars and pay the difference. It made the experience feel cheap and manipulative. read more

Today I went into Build-A-Bear with my eight year old sister for her birthday. I had a great time with her, and everything was very smooth and organized. She loved every second, and the staff were very helpful and energetic. They have over 20 bears to choose from with a good amount of outfits and accessories. I haven't been since I was her age and I was having a blast helping her make her bear. The staff member who helped us, Marleen, was so nice and she seemed like she really loved her job. She asked my sister how her birthday went and it was very genuine and she made the experience that much better. Plus, my little sister loved her. She made her a birthday badge and even suggested for us to go to the Disney store for a birthday crown and pin! Overall we had a great time.
