All of the locations of See's Candies are great. This one is as well. The store is always so clean and well stocked. They make the best chocolates. Their prices are fair and this place is always clean and they give free samples. They have great holiday items, for any holiday really. Right now they are doing graduation. They just finished Mother's Day. The staff is super. They will direct you, but what you want is easy to fine. You can buy a few from their show case or you can get a box in various sizes. My husband loves the Almond Royal's that come in a tin. They are large almonds soaked in chocolate. We love all of their candy. Whatever you want in the way of chocolate they have it. This location is my favorite See's store. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. It is always spotlessly clean and well-stocked and priced accordingly. The selection of chocolates for what I call, 'build your own box', is great and tempting. This is a large See's Candy store on Hawthorne Blvd. just south of Sepulveda. As we entered we were offered a piece of chocolate from their display case. I asked if I could switch the sample to a piece of dark chocolate and the salesperson was nice enough to let me select a piece. My husband and I walked around and we ended up with a bag of Halloween sour bat gummies, a couple of boxes of butterscotch little pops, and some individual pieces from their display case. I was able to use a gift certificate that was given to me years ago, and a gift card for the balance. The chocolates are a little pricey, but a nice treat once in a while. I still get joy out of opening a box and seeing the selections sitting atop their black paper cup waiting for me to decide which one I'll pick. Terrible customer service this morning!!! So for the last 3 times I've asked for a pound of bridge mix milk chocolate only custom packed. Each time they packed it that way. So this morning I went in and asked for the same custom pack bridge mix and the asst manager told me he couldn't do that. I told him this store did it three times. He told me he would not make an exception. We left the store and will never step into that store again!!! This was for my 96 year old mother who only likes milk chocolate. There wasn't a sole in the store so it wasn't because he was busy! See's is not the cheapest candy and has a hard time keeping storefronts open! Don't go there! I know this is just a reflection of that specific asst. manager's lack of customer service skills! Update: I went to the Gardena See's store, like day and night for great customer service. They packed my milk chocolate bridge mix and had NO problem filling the request! My new store location with Great people and service. Does it ever happen to you that you're driving down the road and you see a shop but you're in the wrong lane and you want to beeline to the shop anyway? I may have caused a tiny car at least 7 car lengths away (could have been 8 but I'll give that tiny car the benefit of the doubt) to lay on his horn as if I was a paddle boat that just cut off an ocean liner in a sea of no traffic. That's right, no traffic except me and that tiny car a lifetime away from me. I was in a parking space before it even passed in front of me. And so it begins - the holiday season where creatures come out of the woodwork to give us a little reminder that not everyone is as happy as we are. What does that have to do with chocolate? Absolutely nothing. What it has to do with is my mood. I intended on buying a 1 pound box as a little gift to my chocolate loving guy, but because that tiny car was so unhappy, I decided to buy a 2 pound box. A trio assortment of his favorites: milk chocolate buttercream, dark chocolate buttercream and milk chocolate raspberry cream. I believe it was Esquivel who helped me - he was friendly and happy to share his chocolate favorites. He packed the box like an expert, offered to gift wrap but I declined citing I didn't want anything to delay my ability to get into that box of love. I almost declined the cellophane tape on the sides of the box as well, but thought it best to keep that baby locked shut for the ride home - it was after all, a gift for my guy. I love See's Candies. I love their bright and clean kitchen like aesthetic. I love their black and white uniforms with bows. I love the tidy stacks of confection filled boxes that line the perimeter of the showroom. And gosh darnit, I love samples. Chocolate is as chocolate does said a wise person somewhere. After her rudeness, I did not want the free samples nor the second box that I wanted to get for my family. She looked at us Black people standing in line, then asked the white woman heading to get in line behind us if 'she needed help', and checked her out before us. This behavior has happened to me many times in my life, since I'm Black but every incident is a reoccurring traumatic experience. This racist conduct is not acceptable in modern society. Chocolate is supposed to bring joy and happiness, but this terrible act of racial discrimination left me feeling disgusted with SEE'S for the first time in the 40 years that I have been a customer. Probably the nicest people I have ever met. I came in to order a very large amount of holiday gifts for my company. I was helped right away, big smiles, great energy and all the free samples! I was in heaven. See's is some of the best chocolate around and the ingredients are pure with zero seed oils and/or other questionable additives. I have never met a person that would turn away a box of See's candies. There is a price limit you have to meet before you get a discount on your bulk order and it was a nice discount too. I was told that the order would be ready for pick up in a few days but I got a phone call later that night saying it was already ready! WOW! I returned the next day and loaded up my car. Friendly staff who pack your favoured chocolates in their signature black on white box. Their chocolates compare well if not better than Godiva, Neuhaus, etc. The bang for the bucks is their chocolate truffles which melt close to body temperature so there is a luxurious release of deep chocolate aromatics. As at all See's the stores are immaculately clean. Interesting to see that the staff still wears uniform perhaps dating to the 1920's. He custom packed 2 boxes for me, one as my dad's birthday gift, wrapping it in a lovely black and white gift wrap and the second one for me. I like this See's and I like it even more since they finished remodeling it. It's a lot bigger inside than before, but it's still clean and nice looking with the iconic black and white checkerboard floor:) I stopped in on a Saturday morning, after boot camp, no less. I know...I know...but whatever...I needed to reward myself :) There was hardly anyone in there, which was nice because at Christmas, it was pure madness and you couldn't even get into the parking lot. I like that they have two lines and several cash registers available. Line 1 is in the middle of the store and is for people purchasing boxed candy or other merchandise. Line 2 is for people like me, who are purchasing loose candy or making custom boxed sets. Most of the help is with line 2, to ensure that that section moves quickly. Service is always great at See's. I have never encountered anyone rude or in an otherwise bad mood. Another good things is that they also have fundraising options for schools, churches, or other organizations. It's also a good idea to go in after holidays, as they might have your favorite pieces on sale and in holiday shapes, which usually means they're bigger!! For example, my sister got me hooked on scotchmallows and I got some today, however, when I got to the register, they had Christmas tree shaped scotchmallows (2x the size of a regular one) for $1....yeah...uh...I bought six! read more

Last week I had come to this location and had the most friendly wonderful woman help me as she was so great! I was really pleased how she took her time to make suggestions and had a nice smile the whole time! She was just a delight! So today, I realized that I needed to get a gift for someone on short notice so I went there last minute. I had a list of the candy I was going to get. A very friendly woman said, I'll be right with you and I was willing to wait and then I saw this other woman with a tee shirt cleaning up or putting stuff away. She asked, can I help you in a not so friendly tone. She literally said here is a sample throwing it in the counter of something I didn't like and I told her, can I try something else of my choosing? Anyway while she was packing the box of candy I asked her to put four more inside and she said, they don't fit. The way she went about it was totally mean and not friendly at all. It seemed she didn't want to help me at all. It was like almost an argument each time i said something. When she wrapped the box she didn't put the gold bow, I had to ask her. She just gave me a very cold vibe and not what I'm used to. All the workers that I deal with when I go there are all so super nice. The week before I spent over $200 so needless to say this trip made me really upset. I literally was so nice to her but nothing worked. When I left I felt so sad that I was treated this way. It's See's so of course the place is sharp and tidy inside (always). That black and white checkerboard pattern works. That black and white design theme was inspired by the kitchen that Mary made candy in back in the 1920's. The chocolate and other candy selections here are consistently in stock and fresh. As with all See's locations, when you step up to the counter to order, you'll be offered a free sample. Some people stop in just for their free sample. Note, access from Hawthorne Blvd is on the north side only. If you're heading south you'll have to do a u-turn at the next intersection. I was helped by a wonderful young man Joseph. He was so helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. This guy knows chocolate and made some great suggestions about seasonal specialties. He helped me discover a new favorite chocolate. Yum! If you want the best service ever, ask for Joseph. There are lots of See's locations but this one is my favorite. All locations are clean, bright, cheerful, festive and have yummy chocolates. But only one location has Joseph, the chocolate connoisseur. He makes buying chocolate a memorable experience. Of course, I realize the day before Valentine's Day is a tough day to review a candy store. But come on people, these guys are gouging to the enth degr. I went in to purchase three single chocolates for my wife, I've done this every Valentine's Day for about 10 years. I have small single boxes that you can purchase that used to cost $1.75 for the box with the candy inside. Of course, many prices have gone up in the last year so I wasn't surprised to see that the single piece box price was now three dollars. No problem. But then the girl behind the counter tried to tell me that the price was actually three dollars just for the box and another charge for the candy. I asked her if she was sure that was accurate as I was looking at a sign that said three dollars for the box with the candy inside. She insisted that she was correct and I insisted that she look at the sign. She finally went over to talk to her manager and came back saying that they would let me have it for three dollars. I told her I don't want it as a special discount, I just want to pay the accurate that you were charging. She wouldn't admit fault I just said, don't worry about it and rang me up.. I wasn't really weird about worried about it, I just wanted to know if I was in the wrong or the right, I was trying to be nice about it, but that didn't seem to work. So I paid ($12) for my four pieces of candy and walked out the door. I should probably thank them for not offering me the free sample as they normally do because I need to lay off that stuff anyway. My rating has not changed. Took a written order down to the store. Mostly because they send you coupons and you can't use them online. The manager came out because it was a huge order. They didn't have the dark chocolate peanut crisps, the ones they have been advertising all over. They said they had all the rest. Sent me to the Sees in Del Amo Mall. They had the 15 i needed. Went there and after an appointment, I called to see if ot was ready. Now they said again that they didn't have some if the other stuff after the manager told me that they did. Then the girl had the nerve to tell me I should've ordered online and i could've received everything. Wow! This is customer service? I told her I didn't order online because of the weather and because I couldn't use the coupon they sent me online. She then answered that they use summer shipping right now so they wouldn't just leave it on my doorstep. I'm supposed to know this? She just kept cutting me off and I kept getting more upset! Third, she now tells me that the chocolate ghosts don't come as advertised on the website, that they are all separate and in a bag. The pumpkins aren't boxed either. Next, they don't have the lollipops I ordered. I am furious now. This is ridiculous!! And, they don't come in boxes of 6, as shown on the website. Now they are scrambling to put the the butterscotch lollipops in a pumpkin cover because they don't have anymore witches. And the manager said they had everything but the dark chocolate peanut crunch. Are you kidding me. The concierge gal is absolutely terrible to customers and the manager doesn't know much either. If Judy, who used to manage there helped me was still there, this would've never happened. Do not go here and expect to find all you need, expect them to be packed as website, nor get decent service.
