I was impressed with the size of this toy store and excited to see that they carry many of my favorite toy brands like Folkmantis, Calico Critters and Ravensberger puzzles. They had a lot of fun sounding games I hadn't heard of as well. Aside from high quality toys and puzzles Shenanigans also had some really nice seasonal stuff like Advent calendars. My husband and I explored for quite awhile and finally landed on a Jellycat branded stuffed animal for a friend. For such a lovely store I would have expected there to be a little bit more in the way of service. For the fifteen minutes we spent in there the only acknowledgement we received was three words when we checked out - twenty-three seventeen. Maybe the employee was just having a hard day.

They had a huge wall of Calico Critters - by far the largest selection I've ever seen of that brand! It was a little overwhelming in the best way possible. I thought prices were a bit high, but not surprised to see either on the downtown mall. A great place to go for gifts, for sure! Service was good, I was asked if I needed help several times. The layout doesn't lead itself to a large amount of people moving comfortably.

Their little vault bookstore room was so adorable and was really cute to look through. Price wise I found everything to be what you would expect for a brick and mortar toy store, they certainly aren't going to be offering Amazon prices. The employees were friendly and helpful if you needed them. A great spot to browse or find a gift when in Charlottesville.

The books that you find there are so full of quality content, the type of books that help parents raise children with intentionality and teach kindness, empathy, and open-mindedness. The organization of the store is fun. When I went, there was a section for summer themed items and travel toys, STEM, dino toys and clothes, and more. I was truly wowed by the quality brands. You find brands like Haba and Usborne. I was particularly taken aback by all of the great Usborne stuff! I'm a major fan, and it's expensive to get that stuff shipped. The books end up being like $20, so it was nice to see them priced so reasonably here. I saw some great write and wipe books on letters, numbers, and math. There were some great sticker books (the type that teach), and I was able to snag a seek-and-find bug sticker book that teaches counting for like $8. It is incredibly engaging and effectively reinforces counting skills in a very fun way. Plus, it gives kids something to do with stickers that's fun and doesn't involve finding them all over your house. They also had some great quality Canadian brand of kids toys that I cannot remember, but good craft kits from them. Aside from the clothing, prices were quite reasonable, and the clothes, admittedly, were better quality than you see at typical kids stores. They were made like stuff used to be made. You know, like actually quality enough to pass down. I definitely plan to make this a regular stop for my birthday and Christmas shopping list. There are no yap yap toys, but pretty much kid-powered stuff that requires a brain to be actively engaged in creative thinking. My kind of stuff! Honestly, this store literally looks like what I would put in a kids store, if I created one myself, so I'm so happy to find that it exists. It is truly a magical place, as my fellow Yelper said. It really can't get much better. Please support this wonderful business. It is SO worth the drive, if you're out-of-town. If you have any doubts, just plan add a stop to the Discovery Museum for some great play and La Flor Michoacana for delicious ice cream, but you'll see that Whimsies alone is worth it.

The selection will waver (as all vintage game stores do). But what they do have is extreme quality. They may be picky on what they will take on trade in but I value that as someone who likes to see some of the rarer items for sale. I truly don't know how they make the business work. You can go in here and look at there prices and a vast majority of the time it's cheaper than eBay. No need to price check/match. Plus you get there honesty that the games have been tested. The owners are some of the friendliest I have met in all of my reviews. Down to earth, nice, and willing to hold a conversation with you on about anything. Donna went out of her way to help me purchase some bushes/trees that were on display at the store. I needed help getting them into my car and delivered to my house: she volunteered to follow me to my house and help me unload them. She did this after her shift ended: an extraordinarily kind gesture on her part. This is not a store for "touchy-feely" customers: she and other employees are busy and don't seem like hand-holders. That said, Donna is knowledgeable and practical: proud to offer customer service to her neighbors.

Drove a nicer truck that day and thought the issue would be the height of the truck and getting it loaded without hitting the tailgate. We were assured inside that wouldn't be an issue so we figured we didnt need to drive home just for a trailer (45min one way) the guy loads in then he's gone . They don't help whatsoever in just general guidance or any recommendations they just don't care once they get their money and it's on your truck. So leaving and getting just past Best Buy the safe just fell over, the straps went around the lower and middle part . THE PALLET was smaller then the safe placed on it and wobbly and fell apart! Pulled over and called the store NEVER ONCE did I ask for a refund or my truck payed for!! to try ensure that another person didnt just have a safe fall face first and wreck the mechanism to open it , it hit the side of my truck bed as well . The manager was the biggest jerk he couldn't care any less and instead of just listening to what just occurred and saying how maybe in the future they can help talk guide people better or even just sorry that happened the stupid asshole just sounded like a robot repeatedly saying tractor supply is not in charge of how we strap it. So it mattered none to all our experience and how what if this could have been worse and an accident or death!? Instead of being a make sure my ass is covered he SHOWED NO concern for the customer or the bad experience they had. AGAIN NEVER did I ask for any compensation at all! the girl who answered the phone telling her said "stop! Wait are you ok!?" The manager I spoke with he never had ANY attitude like that whatsoever and is the last person that should be dealing with people. A manager is suppose to care about what's going on and try and offer some solution EVEN IF ITS JUST fully listening , seeMing like you care and at least hoping the next time could be better and maybe we can try and just give you better advice or listen and see the pictures how the pallets are junk. The man kept saying how they have nothing to do with the pallets ....funny because I didn't bring my own . To spend over a thousand in cash and five min later you as a customer and your experience with the product and outcome they care nothing about your a nobody once they have your money. All I wanted was hopefully in the future That no one had this terrible experience and thought tractor supply would have as well.
