The tiles were also not even so when placing the tiles on the coaster some were more raised than others. I'm not sure how a coaster is functional is it's not flat leveled. We ended up just not doing a craft because the other options just weren't worth the money. Our other friend did the flower pressed lamp and they didn't have very many flowers to pick from. We also considered doing the ceramic painting but all of the ceramics were very childish and looked like they were created by amateur.

Our paintings are great but we have two of the same so the next time we went back we did a couples painting. This instructor was even better. Step by step instructions, lots of fun and interaction with us painters and she was so clear about how to do the next step. She also started a little early since everyone had arrived and it gave us a few extra minutes to complete harder steps. I never felt rushed and I love the idea of the SOS day to get help if you feel your painting isn't something you are ready to hang on the wall! I've taken two classes here: Christmas ornaments and stained glass. The owner is extremely…read morepassionate about the art- consistently developing additional designs and options. For the ornament class, we watched a safety video, watched the instructor demo, including tips on what to do and not to do, picked out our color choices, and went person by person blowing our three ornaments- it was a little tricky, but that's the fun in learning something new. The cooling process takes ~2 hours, so you'll want to find something to do during that time- downtown Culpepper is really cute though. For the stained glass class, each person got their own station with all supplies set up for them. Based on experience level, the instructor gave personalized instructions on what to do next which allowed folks to finish on their own time without feeling rushed or slowed down. There were 3 tables with 4 people each during the class I took. The instructor will help you as much or as little with the actual development (some people wanted help soldering the hooks on). I would definitely take classes again as it's clear that this business is a labor of love for the owner who showed us some additional designs she's working on. The other classmates were super welcoming and cheered on everyones's progress in both classes. I recommend for folks who want to learn something new, build community, or make something beautiful!

I absolutely love the chalk paint she sells (Dixie Bell brand), and I refinished all of my kitchen cabinets with it. It covers better than any chalk paint I've used, and it looks amazing! We chose a night that had a Van Gogh painting. Parking can be a bit tough because it is in the fan but they rent out spaces from the Children's Museum. Our night had a bit of a slow start but the painting finally started. After you start painting you are able to order food. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and a meat and cheese plate. The food was great. I would go back for the spinach artichoke dip alone. All in all the night was good. My and my mom's paintings are something we each other can be proud of.

It is an incredibly clean and organized facility with lots of options for cardio and weight training. I love the spin classes which are available almost daily and various hours of the day. The instructors for spin classes are all incredible and challenging yet approachable and encouraging. The indoor walking/running track is awesome boasting large beautiful window seats which offer beautiful views of the trees behind the building. There's even a child care facility onsite! The design of the building itself is also thoughtful. There are locker rooms but multiple cubbies and jacket racks for storage. There are two levels , the lower level with the basketball court and yoga/ studio rooms as well as a large weight training area. Not to knock the local fitness centers but I was a longtime member of ACAC however due to a job change I could no longer afford that membership. I've waited 4 years to rejoin a gym and the Brooks Family YMCA is definitely worth the wait. Everyone I meet at the YMCA appears to be as satisfied as I am and why not?!? We have the cleanest, most modern and affordable facility with the most amenities in Charlottesville, Va. Thank You to everyone who had a hand in brining this YMCA to our area.
