Each is priced separately and they have staff on hand to help you with the items. In addition to the crafts there is a basic beverage and food menu. They also have weekly recurring events. The one that I've enjoyed is the Friday toddler time: They read a book and then have a simple craft to do that pertains to the story. The whole thing is probably only 10 minutes, but it's completely free, so you can't expect too much. :)

Held a 1.5 hour birthday party for a group of 2-5 year olds here on a Saturday morning on the…read morerecommendation of a staff member at our child care center. Lazy Daisy staff was helpful, patient, and kind! Party room was spacious and cheery, and not fancy, so no worries about what young kids might do in the space. Plenty of tables and chairs for a group of 10 kids plus parents--had two sets of tables so we could do ceramics on one, have extra activities (paper crowns to decorate, coloring pads, blank cards, fossil excavation kit) on the other for those who finished painting early, and then could have cake at the first table once the ceramics were cleared away. They let us store our ice cream cake from Kirt's in their freezer till it was time, and even helped us find plates and forks, which we forgot to pack. (Fortunately there is a nearby gas station with sundries.) They are a small business, so cash/check is preferred (wish I had remembered to bring a checkbook). We did a "test run" painting some small items in the drop-in studio with the two birthday celebrants a week before the party, which worked well so they felt familiar with the venue and activity--if you can manage it I'd recommend that too. In theory the room can handle up to 50, but I'd say our group of ~25 was perfect for the space. Would warmly recommend this place to any parents seeking alternatives to Little Gym, Carver Rec, and Discovery Museum birthday parties for this age group!

I absolutely love the chalk paint she sells (Dixie Bell brand), and I refinished all of my kitchen cabinets with it. It covers better than any chalk paint I've used, and it looks amazing! Also, Kim refinishes furniture and makes the most unique things! She uses stencils to add a beautiful touch to her art pieces, plus she teaches classes, which I haven't yet attended, but plan to! She is a great teacher and is passionate about what she does, and I've seen pictures of what they make in the classes- there are so many options! This is a great, women-owned small business in C'Ville that you have to check out for your home decor and DIY project needs!

I went to store after store but was coldheartedly rejected by the generic granddaughters holding sunflowers and puppies. But then, oh my goodness, suddenly the frames appeared... in Joel's office. Sadly they belonged to Joel and were holding Joel's posters so I couldn't just take the money and run. Also they were kind of high up on the wall and I don't think I could reach. Joel is tall. "Where oh where did you get those frames, Joel??" I asked. "Why, Michaels, of course," he answered, adding, "Duh!" No, he didn't really say "duh." He's very polite. So off I biked to Michaels, located conveniently in the nearby Barracks Road Shopping Center. Barracks Road is a great place to go to observe our dependence on foreign oil. You will see bumper stickers such as "My other car is also here at Barracks Road, because my family believes carpooling is un-American" and "I had to sell my other car to refinance my home mortgage and now it belongs to Bank of America." I took the escalator five steps at a time (see: Elf) and emerged on a large floor filled with everything. Gift wrap, knitting supplies, fall wreaths, wooden sculptures, halloween costumes, beach pails, posters, and yes, frames. So many frames! I walked around the frame section drooling for a while. ("Cleanup in aisle Frame!") Then I spotted the perfect 11x17 from across the room. I gave it a quick glance to see if it was looking at me too. It was! I approached it carefully, so as not to startle it. The $9 price tag begged, "Love me!" When we finally touched, I held it in my arms and we danced all night long.

From the store employees, to Customer Care, and ultimately to the escalation/grievance service, I encountered an inability- or unwillingness- to resolve what should have been a very simple problem: a special-order frame that was canceled the same day it was ordered, and the resulting balance that should have been removed from a new Michaels credit-card account. I received the credit-card bill before I even received the physical card. A company reveals its true nature through how it treats its customers - not only when everything goes smoothly, but especially when something goes wrong. The quality of a company and its staff is demonstrated by their willingness and ability to listen, take responsibility and find a reasonable resolution to a customers problem. Unfortunately, my experience with Michaels demonstrated the opposite. After calling the store, Customer Care and the Escalation service, I was still left without a reasonable resolution to a canceled order. Thankfully, consumers today have many businesses to choose from. After this experience, I will never shop at Michaels and will take my business elsewhere.

They also have some amazing sales. I have a hard time not wanting to buy all of it! The ladies that work here are always nice and helpful. They offer classes on how to do a lot of the techniques you see around the store, and although I haven't participated in one yet, they seem very informative and fun. Great shop!
