If you are looking for a dive center to get SCUBA certified in Charlottesville, University Dive…read moreCenter is your best bet. They have the best price in the area, and they also offer a discount for UVA students -- their advanced dive courses are also well priced. They do NAUI certifications in just a couple of weeks with night and weekend instruction. Lynn, the instructor, is also an M.D. -- so she is very knowledgeable both about SCUBA in general and any associated health issues for those who many be concerned about that. All of the instructors are pretty friendly and helpful. The pool instruction was done at the AFC at UVA (Aquatic and Fitness Center). The worst part about the certification process was by far the open water dives. The quarry that the Dive Center uses was freeeeezing. It felt more like ice diving to me. I literally got continuous horrible cramps in my legs from being in the cold water, even though I was in a full wetsuit and hood. I would highly recommend trying to take the course in the fall rather than the spring, so that there is at least some hope that the summer months have warmed up the water a bit.

I haven't…read morebeen in the door to the right, but I think it's owned by the same family, and has a lot of Kawaii/Cute things for sale. My wife found this awesome little hobby shop last night while hanging out with a couple of friends, and when she came home and told me about it, we ended up going back together the next day. I'm into all things nerdy, especially anime and GUNPLA, so I grabbed an SD model kit and a Thousand Sunny Bandai kit from One Piece. They've also got individual actual Pokémon, One Piece, Magic decks, and individual cards in binders for sale (at least for Pokémon, I'm unsure of the other cards games.) They had some Anime models, Manga, a bunch of stickers, different types of dice (for tabletop gaming), plushies, some older video game stuff, and I think there were Warhammer model kits. It's a small local shop, so prices are a little bit higher than what you'd see at big box stores. BUT you're supporting a local business, and that's always really worth it. There are some game rooms in the back where people can play tabletop stuff like board games or Dungeons & Dragons. They've got a bathroom (I didn't check it out), plus a little section with snacks and sodas to indulge if you get hungry while you're there playing. Big shoutout to the guy behind the counter. He was super cool to my wife and her friends last night, and even more so when we came back today. I watched him today helping other customers too. Super patient, very friendly, and just seems like a genuinely good guy. Definitely the kind of shop and person I love to support. He also said that if we have We will absolutely be back here.

My only guess is they saw that the secondary market exploded and the price doubled so they cancelled my order so they can sell it for more at inflated prices. While not illegal or against the rules, it's horrible customer service and degrades trust.

My wife and I were driving home and saw this place had opened just five blocks from where we live…read more Super stoked to check it out since we love hobby games but hated driving an hour to other stores in the area. We stopped by once to check it out and buy some Warhammer 40k supplies (books and paints) and were greeted by friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. We decided to come back for Friday Night Magic and once again had a great time, with a super welcoming community and the staff, as usual, being great. If I had any feedback, I'd ask that they have more snacks to buy, especially coffee or energy drinks for game nights, and maybe adjusting the interior lighting. The bright white glare that they have in there currently does strain the eyes after a while, and there are some sections which are darkly lit, namely their 40k section. Their supplies were a little scant at the time (out of some primers and was hoping for more 40k minis) but I write this off to them having just opened and simply having a successful launch and a loyal customer base. Don't get me wrong - they have plenty of minis, but more singles would be great. I would also like to see them include nights for other MTG formats on the weekend, like Modern. Other than that, can't recommend them enough. I can definitely see myself becoming a regular here and I will 100% be back.

I had a few basic questions about Pokémon and other card items, and instead of helping, she came across annoyed and uninterested the entire time. When you walk into a card and game shop, you expect at least some level of enthusiasm or willingness to help--especially with games like Pokémon, Magic, or Warhammer. Unfortunately, that just wasn't the case here. Customer service makes a big difference, and this experience completely turned me off from coming back.

What a wonderful idea--keeping art supplies out of the landfills--and it is beautifully executed…read more My granddaughter heard about this boutique, and we have been three times in the last 3 weeks. Tucked into a corner of the brightly-colored little shops off Ridge-Macintire road--you know: near circa--the Scrappy Elephant has an amazing assortment of fabric, yarn, painting supplies, cards that can be turned into artwork, and every once in a while a surprise item: on visit #2 my granddaughter found a kit for making a music box! As to the prices, they are unbelievably low. Some items are priced individually, but for most of your purchases you can buy a special (and very handsome) bag--there are four sizes, if I remember correctly--and fill it to the top. Bring the bag back with you anytime, and since it's not your first time--as evidenced by the bag--you get a price reduction on the contents. My granddaughters and I can give this shop an A+ without hesitation.
