My wife and I came here after walking 5 miles up and down the beach in Malibu. We got here around 5p and were able to get a seat quickly as it got busier as dinner time for many approached. We ordered a rainbow roll, a Sunset roll and a Paradise roll, all of which were delicious. June P. Was our server and she was excellent, coming buy a couple times to make sure all was good and then brought us trays and a bag so we could take our leftovers home. We recommend this restaurant 100% if you enjoy really good sushi at a decent price in Malibu.

Bui is always a nice place to go sit at the bar and have a quick bite to eat with friends. The staff is always friendly, and the food is consistently good. I do love my salmon, and order that every time. I also like their Malibu sunset roll. They do have a happy hour during the week as well. Make sure you go and check them out!

Bui Sushi in Malibu is one of those spots that makes you wonder why you ever settle for average sushi anywhere else. I kicked things off with the perfect bowl of miso soup. Simple, but so good. Then came the salmon skin salad, which had just the right crunch and flavor to balance it out. The sushi is next level fresh. I went for the High Tide Roll and the Malibu Sunset Roll. Both of which were bright, balanced, and ridiculously good. Grab a bottle of the Dassai 39 sake to share. It's so smooth, and pairs perfectly with everything. The service was great. Friendly and attentive without hovering. Between the rolls, the sake, and the laid-back Malibu vibe, Bui feels like the kind of place you'll keep finding excuses to come back to.

Gorgeous top class sushi in beautiful environment. Great service. Recommend the Malibus Sunset Roll.

Came in during their happy hour after a nice long beach session and got the sashimi combination with the spicy tuna roll. The sashimi tasted fresh, and the spicy tuna roll was good as well. We also got the spicy garlic chili edamame which was a great starter. The sauce was super flavorful and irresistible. The service was very good and quick, and their recommendations were on point. We wanted to sit outside and were hoping to have a view of the beach too but the outside seating was in the front of the restaurant with not much of a view but the parking lot so that was a bummer. Overall, Bui Sushi nailed the sushi game and would come back for the sashimi combination and edamame!

Cute ambiance and really good sushi! They have lots of options with sashimi, classic rolls, signature rolls and appetizers! Great service as well!

I forgot how amazing this place is. It's been too long! Sat on the covered patio and for a cold ish night, it was lovely and warm with only a couple of heaters on. Beautiful relaxed atmosphere with lovely lighting inside and out. Our waitress was amazing. I would come back just for her. The food is literally one of the best sushi I have ever had. It's perfection on a plate. And the presentation supports my comment.

Happy hour menu is awesome, great choice especially the bowl with cooked salmon, rice and salad Very fresh. Samantha was terrific!

Came in tonight on a Sunday, you could tell they were understaffed server wise. They had a lot of sushi chefs and food runners on it looked like. Our server had a lot of tables and we definitely felt it! He came by our table a couple times when we ordered but never really checked on our food or our experience and they did bring us a hand roll with soy paper and it took them a very very long time to fix it. They did fix it thankfully but by that point I was kinda over it. The food is always great at bui tho! The prices have gone up- so has everywhere else but for that price I do expect better service. The rock shrimp is my favorite! It is always perfectly crisp and sauced- I did notice the portion size got smaller and price went up! The garlic noodles were great as well! Love the salmon sashimi and the yellowtail with jalepenos comes in such a great yuzu sauce. It was very busy for a Sunday which is great for them! However like I said service was not it tonight.

First time and the service was great. The waiter was very attentive and helpful. The ambiance was good for the time of the day we came to have a late lunch. The food was good. I ordered my meat medium well done but I would've liked for it to be a bit more than well done! (My personal taste) Overall good food and ambiance. $114 for two.

Sushi and sashimi were artfully prepared. Portions were adequate. Would definitely frequent this establishment if closer to home. Out of town for work, but had to get my sushi fix.

Perfect date night restaurant. The ambience takes you and makes you feel like you were in a different state. All the sushi was very fresh and delicious. The service was very prompt and high attention to detail. I would definitely recommend if you're looking for sushi in Malibu.

Dining at Nobu Malibu is exactly what you expect when you want something indulgent, elevated, and…read morehonestly a little bit excessive in the best way possible. Everything felt curated. The ocean view, the energy, the pacing of the meal. It is the kind of place my fiancé in finance and I go when we want to remind ourselves why we work so hard. We started with the Yellowtail Jalapeño which was impossibly fresh with this delicate citrus brightness and just enough heat to feel intentional, not overwhelming. The Black Cod Miso was, of course, perfection. Silky, buttery, slightly sweet with that caramelized glaze that just dissolves. It is the kind of dish you pause for. The Rock Shrimp Tempura was crisp and addictive with that creamy spicy coating that somehow feels both light and indulgent. And the Wagyu tacos were tiny but deeply rich, almost decadent in a way that makes you laugh a little when you realize how quickly they disappear. But the moment for me was the pour of Louis XIII Cognac. The aroma alone is stunning. Warm dried fruits, soft vanilla, toasted oak, and this subtle floral note that feels almost romantic. When you taste it, it unfolds slowly. Hints of fig, honey, spice, and this deep almost nutty richness that lingers forever. It is unbelievably smooth, almost silky, and the finish just stays with you in the most elegant way. Yes it is expensive. Obviously. But it is also flawless. If you understand luxury, if you appreciate detail, if you want to feel taken care of in a way that feels effortless, this is it.

That alone already gives it a special kind of charm, but the food and overall experience definitely delivered too. First off, parking is actually easy which in this area is a huge win.. I didn't have to circle or stress, which immediately made the whole visit feel more relaxed from the start. The sushi itself was super fresh. You can really taste the quality of the fish, and everything came out clean, well presented, and just really satisfying. Nothing felt overly heavy or overly complicated, just solid, fresh sushi done right. I kept thinking the whole time how consistent everything tasted. Now I have to talk about the mango sticky rice because that completely surprised me. It was honestly amazing. Perfectly sweet without being too much, the mango was fresh and juicy, and the rice had that warm, creamy texture that just hits. It ended up being one of my favorite parts of the whole meal, which I did not expect walking into a sushi place. I will say it is a little on the pricey side, but at the same time you can tell you are paying for quality and location. It didn't feel like a ripoff, just more of a treat kind of place rather than an everyday casual stop. The service was smooth and easy, nothing over the top but attentive enough that you feel taken care of without being hovered over. The whole vibe is low key but still feels like a place you want to come back to. The only thing I regret is not getting the uni. I kept thinking about it after and I know it would have been incredible based on how fresh everything else was. Overall, really solid spot. Fresh sushi, amazing mango sticky rice, easy parking, and a calm, enjoyable atmosphere. Definitely one of those places you're glad is still around and worth going back to.

We waited in line for about 15 minutes, and although the line was a little bit long, it moved right along (only 2 cashiers working but they moved as fast as they could!). My crab & shrimp salad was incredible! I was a little bit hesitant because I'm not a big seafood person, but the crab was delicious, fresh, and I think this meal converted me to make a seafood lover! Of note, I am dairy free and the salad does not have dairy in it! I got the vinaigrette on the side. I also added a LITTLE touch of hot sauce that was on the table and it was perfect My husband got the halibut and he said it was 7 out of 10! It had good flavor overall. The side salad and fries were solid! Overall, the view was amazing (plenty of seating options!) and the parking wasn't an issue either! The place was very clean, and everyone who worked there was super friendly! Can't wait until the next time we are back here!

Another employee - a woman with a long braid - is darting in and out, clearly busy, but never once acknowledges me or says hello. I eventually go inside to request a menu. The same young man asks if I'd like water; I say yes. The water never arrives. The woman with the long braid continues going in and out of the very small shop another five or six times. I'm seated directly outside the door, yet I'm completely ignored. A third employee appears, and it's clear there's confusion about who is doing what. Still, no one takes responsibility. I have to ask - again - if my order will be taken and also request water once more. At this point, I ask the young man directly whether I should just leave and go somewhere else, because it's obvious their operations aren't dialed in. I'm hungry and already know what I want: the blue crab roll and the Mexicali roll. The food comes out fairly quickly, and while it is fine and did what it needed to do, nothing ruins a meal faster than inattentive service. No one checks in to see if I need anything. At one point, the third employee mumbles a quick apology and mentions they want to close the shop door. I won't be coming back. The overall service communicated a clear lack of care, and what they managed to do exceptionally well was leave me with the impression that I didn't matter at all.
