The food is ALWAYS cold! And I've been here several times already! Nobody likes cold Chinese food. Sushi isn't good either.

Our first visit to this buffet since I saw it advertised on tv. The commercial showed a beautiful seafood bar with huge crab legs. There was no mention of when they were available....simply stated there was a lunch price and dinner price. We arrived at 3PM. The hostess' first words to us was, " Just 2?" We were escorted to a booth where she said something to our server in their native language. So far not a smile or greeting!! I felt as though were were being invasive. Food appeared fresh, not as many choices as far as entrees available. I never did see a seafood bar. A large sign was placed on the buffet next to the NOW avaiable crab legs, stating crab was for dinner after 3:30.The staff did not clean up splatters from previous customers along the buffet line. Our server brought 1 refill of tea...at almost $3 an order. Still no smile...We finished our meal and discovered she had placed our bill on the table without either of us noticing. I took the bill to the cashier, busy conversing with a fellow employee in their private language. Still no I contact or greeting. I paid my bill, told them thank you and exited. There are other Chinese restaurants in the area. You would think the employees could be more aware of customer service. read more

I found this place to be clean, friendly and a lot of different food to choose from. The people that didn't write nice reviews I think have other lazy problems. Staff is very willing to help you with anything. Most locals go here. We have seen other local places and they don't come close to Buffet King. And yes they do use MSG in some foods but I have never found a Chinese that did not. MSG does not make get sleepy, I don't know where these wives-tails come from. If you want to complain about additives look at what you eat other days like fast foods. This place has fresh food and veggies unlike other places. read more

Your typical Chinese buffet / sushi / Mongolian Bbq with an inordinate number of octopus dishes on the buffet. Things were going ok until I bit into a chicken bone in my sweet and sour chicken. The shrimp was not de-veined and the beef and broccoli was cold. Overall I give it a meh. A one time deal, probably not on my list of restaurants to return to. read more

Mmm... nothing like eating some cheap Asian buffet that makes your stomach feel all queasy the next day or the day after. And I'm positive it's this place too. After going many times (yeah, I hate myself that much), there is a very distinct pattern of fun trips to the toilet a day or two after eating at the restaurant. Without fail. And it's only that restaurant. Overall, this place is cheap, but the food really isn't that fresh. The taste is less than mediocre. If you're looking for a smashing, mediocre Asian buffet (let's be honest here, you're not going to these places for the klasse), there are many other places nearby that can deliver better. I'm really surprised at the lower ratings: either the place is hit or miss and I've only been there on "hit" days, or there are some awfully picky people who think buffets should provide the same as a sit-down, order from the menu restaurant experience. I've been there five-ish times. It's always been clean, the busy servers make sure your drinks are full, and the food has been typical to very good for a buffet. The reason for the 5 stars is that you can get fresh food at the grill and you can actually see a sushi chef making the sushi, so you know that's fresh too. They've always had at least 4 types (including the ubiquitous California roll, but also fresh tuna and Unagi). For me, the sushi and the grill alone make it worth the cost. For those who complain about "language" issues: welcome to the United States, a country of immigrants. Most of us come from families who at one time were first generation and learning the language. YOU ARE AT A CHINESE RESTAURANT WHERE THE COOKS AND THE SERVERS ARE FROM CHINA, S. KOREA, VIETNAM, ETC. And all of the servers on the floor are either fluent or doing their best to learn English. It's 2 minute away from my house. The food is very decent compare to the price, that's why a lot of people come here. The dumpling soup is my most favorite. However, I really think they should work on their service. We customer understand that you work hard for the tip, and since the price is not very high, so you would not get a lot of tip if it's base on the percentage. That's the reason why me and my friends always give more tip to the server when we go to Chinese buffet. I don't ask for an excellent service, but a better attitude or at least a smile wouldn't hurt anyone. It may also give the customer a reason to give you a better tip. read more

I have travel all along the east coast and tried majority of the Chinese buffet restaurants out there. Never would I have thought I would have find a restaurant that prepares the food just like it was on the east coast. Buffet King deliveries that same flavor. With it's fresh seafood selections, well prepared hot dishes and of course the Mongolian grill to top it off. YES!!! Buffet king is where I recommend to everyone. I have tried several Chinese restaurants from the Dallas to The colony area. Some were satisfying. Others were down right disgusting. But just by accident I stumble upon Buffet King, I found the flavor I have been craving for months. Ladies and gentlemen of Denton county. If your are looking for a great Chinese restaurant with fresh seafood and a well groomed Mongolian grill with a taste of authentic Chinese style of cooking. Do not hesitate on the restaurant. Chinese buffets, or any buffet, aren't exactly gourmet cuisine, and I'm very familiar with them and I like them. So my score/review aren't coming from being a snob, it's in comparison to similar such restaurants. This might be the worst buffet I've ever been to. They're fried rice has absolutely no flavor. You'll notice that it just looks like steamed rice with a few peas and carrots in it, and that's pretty much what it is. I'm not even sure it's fried rice, it sure doesn't taste like it. Everything else they serve is annoyingly sweet. Everything from their egg rolls to the pepper chicken taste like they were cooked with sugar as the secret ingredient. Some things are supposed to be sweet and savory, but everything is sweet and savory here. I couldn't believe the pepper chicken was so sweet, as it's supposed to be spicy. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so I have to drown everything in soy sauce to balance it out. And to give their fried rice some actual flavor. I'd rather go eat at one of the buffets over on University, in fact the only time I don't is when somebody I'm with wants to go here. Though I usually ask them if they'd rather go to Braums instead, if it's something sweet that they're craving. People seem to be hypnotized by the size and selection of this place, but what's the point of more selection if none of it's that good? read more

We love this Buffet. We always go with the family. I don't know why so many bad reviews for $10 you can eat crab legs, shrimp and calamari. I love their crawfish. That is all I eat when I go. Also they are very honest people we forgot out credit card one night and I called the next day and they saved it for us!! thank you Buffet King you'll always have some loyal customers. We took a large group (50) for dinner when this place first opened. It was simply "economical & alright". Since that time the term "alright" would be a gross exageration. The tepid food, filthy diningroom and even worse restrooms should be more than enough to frighten off all but the buffet diehards. read more

Not good. Everything was cold. One thing I hate is hot and sour soup that is neither hot nor sour. Egg rolls were gross. And too expensive. But I guess someone has to pay for all the wasted food you put on your plate, and then it tastes too bad to eat so it goes to the trash and you start over. read more

This place usually has pretty good food I normally go on the week days on the weekend the price is higher because they have seafood, I went there this weekend hoping to get some crab with the wife and unfortunately the entire time I was there they did not have any on the line, other than that the menu was the same as i'd seen on the weekdays now this would not normally bother me but there was one family that was there getting plenty of crab they came out with at least 6 heaping plates of crab while we were there however come to find out they were going to the back counter and the girl working back there was bringing out plates for them. So guess I was paying extra for them to get crab. read more

Took my parents there during there visit last week. We all loved this place. It was clean, food was hot & good.

Went here on my lunch break with some co-workers. Went up to the buffet to get some food. Got my go-to's, rice noodles, egg rolls, fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. The food was absolutely horrible. The rice was hard as a rock. The rice noodles tasted like cigarette smoke. The egg rolls were cold and mushy. And the chicken was so tough, I couldn't even chew it. I put that plate aside, still full of food, and went back to try again. Got some egg drop soup, lo mein, and sesame chicken. The second round of food was just as bad. I sat that plate aside as well and sipped on my sweet tea for the remainder of my time. When the waiter came by to pick up plates, he asked if everything was okay. I stated no, the food wasn't good. He said apologized and picked the plates up and went on. When time came around to get the check, I asked him to speak to a manager as I didn't think it right to pay for a full price buffet when I didn't even eat a full plate of the food. He said he would have to ask a manager. Another lady came to the table asking what the situation was. I informed her that the food was horrible and I didn't think it was right to pay for it. She said she had to ask her manager and walked away. She came back with an attitude stating that I could pay the children's price. I stated I shouldn't have to pay anything because the food tasted like crap. She said "well you still took the food so that is my offer. Next time tell us before you take the food." Now I'm no rock scientist, but how the hell am I going to know that you're food sucks, if I don't take it to try??? Point of the story: THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! This place was literally THE WORST Chinese buffet we have ever visited. We literally paid and left - and yes, despite 1 barely eaten plate of completely awful food each, we left upset and hungry....still having to spend the full $25 for nothing. Everything from the Crab Rangoons and Dumplings to the Sweet and Sour Chicken (how do you mess up any of those??) to the other small selection of random dishes they had....was SO BAD - we tasted a plateful sampling of many things and literally couldn't eat anything. I'm 4 months pregnant and eat just about anything right now....that's how bad this place was. It was really upsetting to display our unhappiness and still be charged full price afterwards too. We went somewhere else to eat after all this mess. Neither of us has EVER left a restaurant without eating like this. I cannot stress enough how unhappy we were with this place!!!!!! read more

On the weekends, they serve HOT steamed crab legs and the food is pretty good too. Although we live in Arlington, we still think it is worth the drive to go here. It is reasonably priced although, we did have a server run out after us demanding payment for a soda that HE charged to the bill. My sister asked me to sample her soda as it tasted flat to her and she wanted a second opinion. Due to the fact I took a sample sip from her soda, HE charged ME for the soda as well as my sister for the same soda. When I arrived up front to pay for my bill, I had difficulty communicating this and the lady and the waiter began rapid fire conversation ( in another language by the way) as they shot me disgusted looks as though they were irritated that I did not just pay the bill. My party of 12 had already paid and I was the last one to pay. I explained I would pay for my buffet, but not for a soda I did not drink. They took it off, but the kicker here is...the waiter FOLLOWED ME OUT TO MY PARTY THAT WAS WAITING OUTSIDE and DEMANDED someone pay for the soda because if not then he would have to pay for it. HELLO?? Are you nuts? He then asked that someone come in and speak to the MANAGER about this...ARE YOU KIDDING ME? 12 people at like $14 is $168..and your chasing me outside DEMANDING payment for a product I did not order?? We all discussed finding another buffet to have our family gatherings at, but, alas, for the crab legs alone, we will return. read more
