I don't often give bad reviews, but with a place that has chicken wings in its name you think they would be halfway decent, they're not. Some were big and juicy the other half were dried out and mostly bone and tendon's. Blue cheese dressing without the blue cheese. The menus and everything else I touched look like they had never been wiped down. Up for lunch today, we had the nachos appetizer combo platter with the mozzarella sticks, onion rings and wings. They were all so delicious. I had the chicken buffalitos which were excellent. The side Mac n cheese was delicious (hint: stir and mix before eating to get all the hot cheese at the bottom. ) we also had the crispy buffalo chicken wrap that was a nice size too! We had just arrived to Riverhead after a long journey from NJ en route to the Hamptons for a little vaca. I called BWW at 11:45pm, crossing my fingers that their kitchen would still be open; and they were. Due to COVID, it being a late hour on a week day, they still honored their posted online schedule of closing at 12am and took my take out order when I called. When I picked up my order at 12am on the dot, the young lady doing take out and her manager were so friendly and made me feel at ease when I felt awful for picking up late. Just wanted to put out there that I'm a server for almost 15 years, so I understand it being frustrating when people call late. I also understand that it's our job to stay until closing and honor policy. People DO travel and count on these establishments being open for food. This was just an experience that I was happy with, especially being a very loyal Buffalo Wild Wings customer. Thank you Riverhead staff! This place sucks . Waited 15 minutes before the waitress even came over to take our order . Mind you place was empty. Ordered drInks , that took another 15 minutes . Brought one drink over and told us beer we ordered was not available . Gave her two other beer options . Food finally came out , my burger tasted like a McDonalds burger . Another waitress finally came over to tell us neither of the two beers we asked for were available, mind you she named two different beers than what we ordered . When you're craving junk food (or are just insanely hungry and still an hour's drive from home), who doesn't love them some Buffalo Wild Wings? I tend to stay away from writing reviews about chains unless something stands out -- and I can say that the service here on a recent Saturday night was outstanding. The hostess and server were both cheery, warm, friendly and knowledgeable -- something that can be really hit/miss in a high-volume restaurant (especially one that caters to beer-drinking, sports-watching, wing-eating folks). Our waitress recommended the meltdown burger, which is essentially a burger melt (duh) topped with a giant round mozzarella stick with cheddar instead of mozz, along with more cheese (swiss), sauteed onions, some house sauce between not-too-thick toast. It was divine, if a chain burger could ever get such a designation. Hubby and I split that and a small order of wings (thai curry/medium) and it made for a filling dinner after a few hours hitting up the outlets. My only gripe about this place was that it took a good 5-10 minutes for us to figure out where it was. GPS isn't very helpful in finding it and the sign on Old Country Road is super small -- so we ended up turning around a few times and ended up in the wrong parking lots twice. (Look for the Dick's Sporting Goods and it's all the way toward the back in a shopping center behind the Holiday Inn Express and Starbucks.) Oh, and the calorie count. read more

It took two hours to get our food. They switched waiters on us after the first waitress clearly had too many customers in her section--also, where was the bartender? Why did that waitress need to work both service and the bar? Management needs to do better with this. After that, wr had one additional person come in and they refused to give us another table to seat the party even though they had plenty of space and tables to accommodate us. Our friend who couldn't fit in the table left without eating and I ended up getting tired of waiting after an hour and left with takeout. Those were the detest Buffalo wings lol. Not even some sauce on the side to help it out? Are we that cheap? This location does not have enough staff to cover the dinner rush. They need to either hire more waiters or more cooks because there is no reason for a bunch of chicken wings to take two hours... nice waiters, but unfortunately the service was out of their control. We get wings through door dash so not sure who's at fault but we received our order and opened container and 3-4 green flys were in it. I was disgusted to say the least. We called the restaurant and they weren't very apologetic or accommodating. The manager said the flies were not from his kitchen. They had to of been from the kitchen because everything was sealed. If I could give this place a 0, I would. I didn't even get a chance to taste the food or get a sip to drink. Upon entering the establishment it took roughly 5 minutes to get seated... on a Tuesday night in November. No line in front of us, no one at the front desk. When we finally got our table, we waited patiently to get seen for our drink order. When we walked in at 6:50pm, we didn't speak to a single person until 7:25! Finally when the bartender told us she'd be back in 2 min to get our drink order, that turned into 10 and I finally had the courage to walk out. When I waited around to speak to someone in the front, no one begged us to stay, and instead I got a struggled apology. I've NEVER had anything bad to say about BWW, but the staffing and lack of enthusiasm at this particular franchise is horrendous. read more

I prefer the buffalo wild wings out by Lake Grove instead of this place. The service here wasn't too good. LOCATION: in the new shopping center they just created recently with Dick's Sporting Goods and Five Below, etc. DECOR: typical inside for the chain restaurant, bar stools and tables, booths along the walls. Big TV screens alongside all the walls playing different sports games. Decent music, some radio hits played as I was there, also some old classic rock type ones like Guns and Roses. FOOD: I ordered spinach & artichoke dip, mini corn dogs, fried pickles, and a medium size of the boneless Asian zing flavored wings. The spinach & artichoke dip is pretty average but the pita chips that come with it are like cardboard (I suggest asking for tortilla chips as a substitute). The mini corn dogs were tiny and cute, very tasty, and came with side of mustard. Fried pickles are my go to appetizer for this place usually, their so good. Little fried pickle chips that come with a side of a spicy Russian type dressing. The boneless Asian zing wings are also my go to item off the menu for here. Spicy but sweet sauce keeps your mouth watering for more wings. SERVICE: the service was not so good at this BWW. We got seated pretty quickly for a Friday night, and our waiter was very cool guy, nice and friendly. But the food took a long time to come out, longer than average. Then when it finally came out, they forgot my boneless wings. I told the waiter and he brought them out quickly after, and I don't know if he meant to, but they definitely gave me a large instead of a medium (there was like 25 wings instead of the medium-16). But they didn't charge me for a large, so I thought maybe they gave me extra for forgetting to bring them out initially? Who knows. BWW as a chain should be rather consistent. The menu doesn't really vary from location to location but service is a real variable. This Riverhead location is newer and maybe they are still working out some "Grand Opening Jitters". We were seated quickly enough for a Friday night we only had to wait behind a party of seven to get situated. We were shown to a both and we asked for a table and this was easily accommodated. And then we sat and waited. And Waited. And waited some more. It took at least 10 minutes for our waitress to appear to take our drink orders. We ordered them and asked for a couple more minutes for our menu items. The drinks showed up about 10 minutes later and we placed an order for one appetizer and two entrees. About 20 minutes later out came our entrees. But wait where's the appetizer. It seems this was forgotten. We asked the server who brought out the entrees and he had a stunned look on his face as he fumbled with the ticket. We began to eat our main courses while they were hot. About five minutes later the manager brought out the appetizer apologized for the error and advised s that they were taken off the bill. So maybe some openng day/week/month jitters but the place wasn't so packed so they should really take advangtege of these slow times to get their routines worked out. read more

Not only did it take multiple people asking about how many people were in my party once we were seated the waitress must have been the only one working. Want a refill better wait for 15 minutes or more. Then at the end of this atrocious dining experience these clowns don't want to take your credit card to just swipe it want to take a number and text you. Been to a lot of BWW and this one is probably the least favorite of mine. Our waitress was nice but you could tell she wasn't really sure what she was doing from the start. I asked how the new drink was that they had displayed and we could tell she just straight up didn't know anything about it. I would have just appreciated honesty, it's a lot more personable. We ordered an appetizer and after about 20 minutes we asked her if it was coming out and she said she would go back and check. She came back and told us it would be out in a few minutes to only come back a minute later and told us it was never placed. We said it was okay and then as she proceeded to walk away, I said "excuse me" pretty loud to cancel it because our food just came out within the same second. Somehow she didn't hear us and a manager did. We explained what happened and he offered to put the appetizer on them since they "messed up." She didn't check on us the entire rest of our stay, perhaps because she was embarrassed or nervous, I'm not sure. We got the check from her and paid in cash. We gave her a $50 with the total of the bill being $41.90. She came back and gave us $8.00 even. No change and no receipt. We understood that it was only a dime but it was the principle. Never have I ever been to a restaurant, let alone a chain restaurant like BWW and been skipped out on the change. My boyfriend went right up to her and asked for his receipt and his dime and it was right in front of the first manager that helped us. It could have been just me but the manager seemed to think we were ridiculous that we wanted our dime back. I explained that I know it's ridiculous but it really is the principle of the matter and our receipt should be given back as well. We got our dime and receipt back and laughed about it on the way out, but definitely took a mental note that the professionalism isn't quite there. Hostess took our name and number to be called in about 40 mins after 40 mins we never got a call so we went back in and saw people that had came in AFTER us. We're already seated with drinks. Got seated took abt 10 mins for the waitress to come . She took our complete ordered . Came back with drinks and she gave me the wrong drink too. never saw her again until abt 30 after our food finally came out and all at different times and by different people not even by her . I asked for one patty on my burger and I still ended up with two pattys and the avacados on the burger were SO hard I couldn't even bite threw them . It's a sport bar with 50 or more TVs. It's loud and the food is sports bar quality. The service is on par with sports bar service. Nothing amazing but if you are looking for an amazing meal why are you at a sports bar? I had the Juicy Burger with buffalo rub. It was fine. But was still hungry so I had an order of boneless wings with the buffalo rub. Big mistake. The experience is somewhere between eating rocks and what it would be like if you put boiled chick breast back into an egg and served it. The shell of the boneless wing is about 1/4" thick. I would have sent back but I was starving. I walk away from this place a wiser man because I now know what it is like to eat buffalo covered rocks. In terms of every restaurant I have ever eaten at its 2 stars at best. Compared to other sports bars its a pretty solid 4 start. Enjoy cheap drinks and mass produced food here and be happy.
