If there were a hall of fame for disappointing dining experiences, this Buffalo Wild Wings would be front and center. We paid Premium Steakhouse prices for what tasted like microwaved frozen bar food. It's honestly insulting. Our server was basically a myth. I think we saw them twice -- once to take the order and once to drop the food off like they were delivering a message from a different dimension. It took 30 minutes for a beer and 40+ minutes for wings that were somehow both tiny and overcooked. Charging extra for absolutely everything -- ranch, soda refills, probably oxygen if they could find a way -- just made it feel like a straight-up cash grab. The wings were dry, the quality was awful, and the entire experience screamed "We know this is bad, but you're trapped now." This place is expensive as hell for what it is, and the food quality? Terrible. Genuinely terrible. I left hungry, annoyed, and wondering how a place that sells wings can get the wings so wrong. Champlin has way better options -- save your money and skip this culinary disappointment. read more

Okay - a mixed bag - 3 stars. GOOD: 1. Our food was good. 2. The service in the bar was friendly (but NOT accurate). NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: 1. Customer service kinda sucks. We stood around up front and despite tons of employees mulling around like lost cows and despite the fact that there were hardly any customers...no one greeted us, no one offered to seat us, no one asked us if we were picking up food...we finally gave up and just grabbed a high top table at the bar. 2. The accuracy of our orders was lame. We both got the wrong sides with our burgers. And I got boneless wings instead of standard wings. I didn't say anything because I decided to express my opinion on Yelp instead of with the staff. If they mess up this bad when it's slow, I hate to think of how bad they are when it's busy. My friends were looking for a place to get some chicken wings. I had chicken wings the day before, so I decided to go with the southern chicken sandwich and some cheese curds. The good: The fries were seasoned well and tasted great. The chicken sandwich looked like a well cooked chicken sandwich. The challah bread was nice and firm. The Bad: The actual chicken in the Southern chicken sandwich was a little bland and nothing special. It kind of reminded me of a Wendy's chicken sandwich but a little blander. It's been a bit of time since I've been to BWW, and this was my first time at the Brooklyn Park location, but things have really gone downhill since my last BWW visit. The good: The boned-in chicken wings were pretty good (I got Asian Zing and Parmesan Cheese/Garlic); this earned one of the stars I gave them and the $10 price for wings, fries, and a pop earned the other star. The bad: There were only two other tables with people and yet this wound up being a two-hour lunch. I can only imagine what would happen if there were more people. The server was pleasant by very lack-luster and lethargic. Clearly, he really wasn't "into" this job. However, even being slow wouldn't explain why it took so long to get our order. Ironically, even after all that waiting, everyone (four people at our table) received luke-warm wings. Even worse, the fries were both cold and limp. BWW has skinny fries and there is nothing sadder than cold, limp, skinny fries. Think of McDonald's fries at their very best. This was the opposite of that. The following isn't a big deal, but I think it reflects on the overall quality of the restaurant. The ketchup on the table was absolutely empty, except for the tablespoon of water that poured on my plate (ich). We took a ketchup off the table next to us and it didn't work at all. I quickly figured out that no one had removed the foil seal when they placed it on the table. That seems really lazy, not to mention that I shouldn't have to dig my fingers into the communal ketchup bottle. Also, there were no napkins on the table; these were given out separately after the food was delivered. If there was ever a restaurant that needed napkins, BWW is it. As for the Wetnaps, that container had a total of three packages and we had to request more of those too. I stopped going to Buffalo Wild Wings when they stopped having bone-in wings, due to some wing shortage and this was my first return visit. I was looking forward to this, so it was really disappointing. By the way, if you are a Wings fan, the very best wings I've ever had are served at Doolittles Woodfire Grill in Golden Valley. Latest visit to BWW Champlin a week ago. Saturday night, Big 10 CFB championship and MMA on tv, no local events. Near empty when we arrived, the place filled up but nowhere near packed. Expect BWW to do two things right: Serve cold beer and hot chicken wings. Even stressed to our server on arrival the desire for hot chicken wings. It was a friendly conversation-not adversarial in any way. BWW failed on both counts (again). Each round of beers took forever, which was funny cos we sat in the bar area. One person ordered wings to go-delivered cold 60 minutes later. Two of us ordered wings to eat on site. Reassurances to the contrary, those wings too arrived more than an hour later, cold and inaccurate fulfillment. I ordered a double patty burger and it arrived dessicated and sorry looking. I immediately declined to accept the burger and ate only a few potato wedges from another plate over 3.5 hours. My friends ate their cold wings, knowing a reorder might take another hour. A manager appeared to discuss the situation, friendly and helpful. My never touched burger was removed from the bill. My friend then needed at least two lengthy discussions with server about the bill and I don't think it was ever reconciled properly. BWW- NO EXCUSES PLEASE! Customers don't want to hear about staffing or whats going on in the kitchen. Where is the quality control? Get your act together. You guys spoiled our holiday get together. read more

I like BWW, but their service initiative is stupid as hell. We don't get greeted at the door. We don't have a server. We can't get out good until we pay. With all that, if there are any issues who do we talk to about it with no one being our server to see how we are doing? Spoiler alert, we had received the incorrect food & I never got mine until I paid. BWW is a restaurant, not fast food. I go to restaurants to be waited on & have people make sure everything is ok with what I ordered (CUSTOMER SERVICE). If I wanted to pay & be left alone, I'd go to McDonalds or some other fast food place. BWW needs to go back to their service first model where they are more restaurant than fast food. The food quality has just kept diminishing at this location the last couple of years (don't blame COVID, the other locations don't pass off plain chicken wings as Buffalo wings. Just Champlin, again and again and yes I am to blame because I ought to know better than to expect a different result. A positive note, the servers and wait staff are always awesome and I actually got the food early. So once management allows the cooks to actually season wings again (which I keep waiting for) they could be great again. Recently decided to try BWW Champlin again and was pleasantly surprised by the service, quality of food, and atmosphere. We had stopped going to BWW a couple years ago due to a few poor experiences, but decided to try it again and I'm glad we did. I brought my 2 kids here and the 3 of us got wings, a French fry basket, and cheese curds. I also got a beer and the kids had Lemonades. Food was prepared great and everyone enjoyed their meals. The staff was attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Only real issue was the price which came to about $80 for what we ordered. That seemed expensive in comparison to other restaurants in the area. Overall I am glad we tried them again. Next time I might look for some coupons before we go. read more

This place sucks. Waited for what felt like forever to even get water and then found out that it's self service. I've been here before when they started the change and they were fast on our drinks so I didn't know now that we're suppose grab our own drinks. There are no signs indicating that. There's a bunch of servers around that are literally standing around doing nothing. I also had a one year old with me. When someone finally approached us, we asked for a booster seat. Like am I suppose to get my own booster seat too?? I just think it's so insane the lack of awareness here. I'm not proud to say I have paid a small fortune to this place over the years because my family enjoyed the food at one time. The service has now deteriorated to a level beneath the lowest quality fast food drive-throughs. This place will probably close within a year if nothing changes. This particular location is off my list for good. The people know how to smile, while completely spacing out on your order. You will be lucky to receive half of what you ordered, particularly on pick-ups. When you drive all the way home, part of your family will not eat with the rest of you because their food is still sitting on some counter in the BWW kitchen. You will probably be refunded for that item, and maybe a little extra if you're lucky, but your meal with your family will be ruined. It would be like if the jeans you just bought had a tear in one leg, so you were refunded for just that leg, but you would be stuck with jeans you don't like. I waited about 30 minutes for a pickup order and watched someone pre-package carrots, only for the order to be missing items when I got it back home. I guess she should have been helping the rest of the crew check my order. When she noticed I was waiting, she asked me if I was waiting for a door dash order. I thought, "geez, you saw me come in and tell you I was here for my order half-an-hour ago, remember?!" She offered me a free fountain beverage, but I don't drink soda, so I tried the iced tea...no dice. It was empty. I gave this place every chance I could, but it is a dump, with inconsistent service, poor quality and rips in the booths. It's GM apparently doesn't care enough to hire competent managers, and this location is simply kept afloat by alcohol sales to patrons waiting for their food at the bar. The rest of the place is a ghost town set in a poor attempt at sports bar ambiance. Another eight minutes up the freeway and you are at a much better wing spot in Anoka where they play sports on tv too. The Crystal location is much much better, and is going to be the new check down for when the family craves BWWs. read more

My previous review was a 4 star, but after our recent visits it has gone down. We come in later at night, but not really close to close. We have to seat ourselves which is fine but no server comes and greets us. Luckily we already know how their ordering system works and we like that. But it takes forever for them to bring your drinks over and if you need something you have to hail someone down, and the employees sometimes seem like they're hiding. It feels like you're an inconvenience to the employees. My wings were lukewarm and tough. They didn't have the bun for my other item so I allowed a sub which I didn't really mind. Food was mediocre, I've had better. I had to ask multiple times for them to bring my ranch and veggies out after my wings, which usually come together. They took hours to get me and my friends our meals and when we got them they got my friends order wrong. They put the sauces and dry rubs on the side and he had to apply them himself and they still made him pay full price. I've been going to this BWWs for about 15 years now.... I live and work in Champlin. Today was the best service ever!! Sat at the bar and the bartender was so nice and sweet. She was also attentive and knew what she was talking about. Friendly service, great food and drinks. The Bloody Mary was great, but the best part was the bartender. Thanks KH. We were there for lunch on a Friday, so got the sweet lunch deal - side salad with chicken (medium sauce) and blue cheese and onion rings for a side. Sooooo good!!! I'm a regular guest and I usually love the atmosphere here. Today on the other hand was a horrible experience. The server that we had was horrible to us all. He was cussing and slamming cabinets at the server station. Which made us feel uncomfortable because we were seated right next to the server station. Our water wasn't refilled and our orders were wrong. We understand that servers got it hard so we let it all slide as our food came out. OK, Wings are one thing and I've reviewed their wings before. Very average wings but the simple blue cheese sauce is where they drop the ball big time, out of a tub! This last trip was with my daughter for a quick dinner and I thought I'd try the Chicken Taco like thing, they have some "special" name for it but it is just a half-ass taco. Now as I sat there eating this all I could think to myself was "Wow, I've made something better than this at 3am,drunk with the munchies but limited things in the fridge". This was a take out order from BWW in Maplewood, MN. They did not have have ANY salads. Awful boneless: dry like the desert (asked for extra wet) hard as a rock and terribly, TERRIBLY salty. The pickle chips were not properly fried, they were soft and you could taste the raw breading on them. Buffalo Wild Wings these days is a far cry from the delicious food they prepared up to 10 years ago. This is the fourth year in a row we've spent Mother's Day at Bdubs, mostly because we like the food, there's no crazy line and no reservations necessary, and I get to watch a baseball game while we are here. The server was courteous, but when we opened the flatware, every knife and fork was filthy with hard water stains. So gross. It looked like they were caked with some dust. We asked for new silverware, and the same thing was wrapped up in napkins again. The manager said they got a new dishwasher, and they were waiting for a filter. Ugh! And, he condescended to us by saying he could hand polish the silverware for us. Seriously? Just apologize and make it right. The food is good, wings and nachos (although not enough cheese on the nachos) and drinks for this momma and company. Maybe we just get takeout next time. Bad experience. The bartender was very friendly, but she proceeded to chat with the regulars while telling me "Be with you in a minute". I sat there for 10 minutes before I could get a drink and a menu. When my food came not as I ordered it, I had to flag down the bartender because she was still ignoring me after several minutes. When the food finally came back (took longer than the original order), it looked like a middle finger on a plate. It was cold, an absolute mess and very difficult to eat. It seemed like the kitchen was annoyed with me for whatever reason, even though I clearly communicated the order to the bartender, who repeated it back to me. The bartender was clearly catering to the regulars at the bar and more focused on having fun with the regular patrons than serving the rest of the customers. Nothings amazing, but nothing terrible.. I went on Mother's Day with my boyfriend's mom (hoping to avoid some of the rush by going to a more typically known as a 'guy' restaurant.. we thought we were sneaky...). I got a snack size of wings and could barely finish it all. I was impressed at how big their wings were, and not all of it was breading or just sauce. However, I had to ask for celery with my wings. I'm use to it coming with your wings, but obviously not anymore.... We also got the potato wedges which was amazing, especially when you add cheese (it is extra, but it's yummy). We asked for a new water for having little brown things in one of our waters (expecting maybe bugs...) only to have a server come back and make sure we understood it was coffee grounds... (Not totally sure how you get coffee grounds in water glasses.) Overall it was an interesting experience to say the least. Nothing amazing, nothing terrible.
