I love Buffalo Exchange, I've been to the one in Houston and Las Vegas and they were much better stores. I totally agree about the selling of the clothes. These people have no idea what they're doing, it's totally arbitrary and they seem to think they work for Vogue and not selling people's used clothes. I didn't care about the hipster part, that's totally affected, I'll see the real thing when I move back to NYC in a few weeks. Went in and was just trying to get rid of a TON of nice clothes because I'm moving. I immediately hit a wall with a girl when I walked in. From then on it was no-no-no. I brought out my expensive jeans, I mean $250-350 never-been-worn jeans and they told me they weren't in style. Except that I saw a pair of the very jeans they said that about in the 7 for Mankind store not too long ago. THE IDENTICAL PAIR. The GUY who was doing this (who clearly doesn't know women's fashion) tried to tell me a pair of Hudson (expensive) jeans were worn by pointing out LINES in the jeans caused by the hanger (I bought them and wore them twice and they then just hung in the closet creasing them because they were in between tons of other jeans) and telling me they were worn. He had no idea what he was doing. AT ALL. The funniest thing was that he bought this dress that I've had hanging in my closet since 2008 and thought it was great. It was totally out of style. Seriously, I kid you not. I asked him what they would buy and he described a pair of shoes that would be heels, rounded toe, etc. I pulled out a pair exactly like what he was talking about that were almost brand new, literally the bottoms were almost untouched, that were suede and he said they were old. I told him suede is a fabric that changes with the direction of the fabric. I showed him and they looked brand new. I asked him if he actually knew what he was talking about and he called over the incredibly snotty girl that I hit a wall and OF COURSE she said that there were scuffs (that I rubbed out) and that people wanted perfect items (she said that, I swear) or they'd ask for a discount. In a used clothing store. Where you buy things other people have worn. As I was waiting to get paid for the stuff they did buy I noticed a pair of grungy boots that were trashed and a pair of white Keds (do people still wear those?) that were scuffed and dirty that didn't look nearly as good as the stylish heels they turned down. I also saw shirts and stuff in the same style as mine that they tossed aside (expensive brands, nothing I brought in was cheap). I also brought in $500 Miu Miu's (a division of Prada) that were super sexy and he said it wasn't the season. In Phoenix. Where it's hot every day. Oh, okay. One last thing, they give you a total at the end and don't tell you how much they gave you for each items so you can't say no. That's super annoying, but then again, the whole process was. I went there to sell some clothes, most of them good quality barely-used pants, dresses, jackets size 14-16. The Buyer (who had eyebrows painted with a Sharpie marker), and had no clue what she was doing, and obviously didn't know what's quality or not - looked at everything and with a dismissive bored look on her face, said no thanks. This is what I got from the experience: 1) If you're over the age of 30 - don't bother going there. It's mostly for college age people who think they're 'cool'. Yes, they are ageist. 2) Buffalo Exchange store had the smell of an old musty closet that hasn't been ventilated in decades. 3) If your clothes are more upscale, don't waste your time going there. This store is overrated. Go to Goodwill, and you will get the same thing for WAY better prices. read more

This new location is quite a bit smaller than the previous store on Missouri. This means they have less room for merchandise and are a bit more selective when buying inventory. Regardless, I've made great $$ selling my vintage and gently used clothes and jewelry. For everyone complaining that they aren't taking your stuff - is your merchandise worn? Faded? Wrinkled? Damaged? Wrong season? From a cheap label that can't really be discounted much further (Target, Old Navy, Forever21)? Would you want to buy what you are trying to sell if it was on the racks? I know for some it's embarrassing if they don't take anything, so go walk around and enjoy yourself while they go through your stuff rather than watch them turn some of it down. As for their pricing, it's really on point most of the time. If Goodwill/Savers prices their dresses at $10 and you can find something here for $12-25, depending on label and material, then you're getting a good deal. Some of their jewelry in the case is overpriced ($60-110) for certain pieces. This is new, as I've been a loyal customer for over a decade and was able to snatch up .925 goods for $20-30. If this means they'll get more people bringing in unique items, then it's a good move, but the pieces I saw just aren't worth that price tag. My only complaint: PLEASE bring back the vintage rack. This is all I look for when I come in and I really miss being able to go straight for it. read more

Idk why people give Buffalo Exchange locations bad reviews for not giving much money for trades. You're not doing any of the work to actually sell the clothes....so you're gonna get less money lol. Also "trendy" is subjective so don't be mad if your clothes aren't. This location has a lot of good stuff, definitely more "trendy" fashion than the University location. I personally prefer University's location because they usually have a lot more alternative clothing. read more

Literally every time I've come in, I found an article of clothing I absolutely adored, and always at a reasonable price. ModCloth is one of my favorite clothing sites, and much of Buffalo Exchange's selection reminds me of them. It can be difficult for someone my size to shop for vintage or in-style clothing that doesn't look frumpy or intended for someone in their 40's. While Buffalo Exchange (like most places) could use a wider selection of plus-sized clothing, the stuff I DO find is always stylish. I enjoy the hip, somewhat DIY, support-local, support-good-causes vibe of the store. I feel it works for their location. I like their no-bag policy where you can use a token to donate to a cause instead of wasting plastic. They'll have my business indefinitely, especially since they're literally down the street from my apartment. I haven't tried selling here yet, so I can't comment on that aspect of the store. read more

I stopped by this Buffalo Exchange with my boyfriend last week. Barely any cars outside, parking lot was bare (which is always a surprise) but due to covid I understand. As my boyfriend and I were walking in the store, an employee came out and told us they're not allowing any more people in the store yet, then she proceeded to shut the door on us before I could even utter a word. I understand, limit the amount of customers in the store- however the girl was not at the front door upon entering, and she was dismissive. What got me was one of the buyers, went to the other employee and asked her to call the person who just sold their clothes. The buyer tells the girl "just say you know, clothing is out of style or whatever sounds good- the typical stuff." Bad and rude employees, not a good selection, but the stuff that is decent is overpriced. The Tempe location is far better! read more

Meh. I've been going here for years. I love their new location, it's a better place for them. I GET that they're overall a business, I really do. So most the time I don't feel insulted if they don't take something. There's been few occasions where I will buy something from an expensive retail store, mean to take it back but don't have the receipt, so I'll sell it there. They'll decline it because it's not in style or too many/too few buttons, pockets, wrong shade, etc. Theres really no point in arguing. -_- It is annoying when they say they're professionals and know what they're doing but pass on unique items you will see at their other locations, and then see PLAIN and stained t-shirts that are goodwill worthy on the racks. Ugh! Sometimes I still wonder if a lot of the high prices are necessary, don't get me wrong, I'm stylish and know what labels sell and whatnot :p If you want to take the time and play the game, whatever they didn't take in, take back a few days later and someone else will (usually) take in your items. It goes to prove that they all have their own eyes and style. Overall, I still enjoy this place enough to come back. I do enjoy rare and unique finds. read more

I don't know why this location is rated so low! I literally can't get enough of this store and recently moved to phoenix. When my fashion loving friends or family visit I make a point to come here with them. Amazing prices and such unique pieces. Love that there is a Starbucks walking distance from the shop also! I bought the cutest beaded mini bag that had a teapot on it and it's one of my favorites! Will be bringing stuff to sell tomorrow. read more

3 and a half stars. This place is hit or miss. I bit overpriced for being a second-hand store. I like the fact that it exists. I love their new location. I like the earthy, support local music, support great causes-feel to the store, but I think if I'm going to pay near retail prices I kinda want more deals from time to time. The staff is helpful (occasionally someone is having a bad day, but who doesn't, right?). They don't always buy my stuff, but ah well, life goes on. I got my money's worth out of it. Friendly staff and super fast with merchandise take in. Take-in was very organized and efficient. I've had difficulty with other shops. They have a great selection of brands and sizes. I was so hopeful this would work out. I have been taking things to upscale consignment shops for 20+ years and always found them to be fair and honest. I sent 5 bags to Buffalo Exchange with 40 to 50 items each of quality items in each bag, many had new tags on them, but we were moving and time was limited to take to my local consignment store (also limited hours with the pandemic and they were between seasons). Anyway, from 5 bags packs with about 250 quality items, I received $28 in cash. Maybe this works for some people, but I will never do business with them again. I would have been far better off selling on eBay or even donating to get the tax write off. Unbelievably bad experience. I feel so cheated and betrayed. read more

I used to love this place but recently it is pretty terrible all around. They now only buy "current mall items" instead of interesting pieces. And forcing you to stand with awkward conversation while they go through your items to sell is a nightmare. I don't want to watch you force awkward conversation with me while you throw all of my stuff into a pile. This place was a joke ! The young women with giant hoops and short blonde hair with about 4 nails missing was rude and very stern not friendly at all. I also can't believe she wouldn't take my jeans I had 3 pairs of True Religion Jeans 1 pair of Rock Revival Jeans and 1 pair of miss me jeans, I had about $500 worth of jeans. I arrived with two bags of clothes for them to look at. I've never been inside this location so had no idea what fashion style I'd find inside. No appointment needed and when I arrived there were two other people ahead of me. I didn't think my wait time was long and I was greeted very warmly and she was super friendly. They look at your close really fast and certain styles that pop out, they keep! Quote a price and you can decide to trade or not. I only ended up trading about 6 items of my two big full bags. I had credit to do some shopping and a lot of what I saw was retro vintage with some modern. The experience overall was good and their trade value was fair. read more

Hello, I've been a customer of Buffalo for 10 Pluse yrs. friends who have been many many yrs. as well. Today I went in taking my 12 hr old grand daughter in hopes of showing her a new place for her styles change from month to month being she's reaching her teen yrs. so what better place to take her then buffalo, Right? Well unfortunately we had a very very bad experience. As we were looking I myself found a few things for myself so as always I try all things on, So we went to the dressing room it appears the guy checking us in was very short with us which I blew off feeling he must be having a bad day. After trying on our things nothing worked for me but my Gdaughter found many great great things As we headed to return the things which we were not taking the same guy was standing there with the same attitude I handed him the items we were not taking along with the # Tag. He rudely said " You can hang those yourself!" ( being the # Tag) So I hung them thinking that's the way they do things at "This Buffalo" so as we were walking away I herd him say "She's just too FAT!" I turned around only to see him and his co worker laughing I was so shocked I felt numb I stood in shock looking at them and all I could say to him was " your very rude" he kept laughing so I walked tord him wanting to punch him in his ugly face but held back being my Gdaughter was with me!!! I'am so discussed yes I'am over weight but what kind of customer service is this?? My poor Gdaughter was in tears so instead of going to management I simply told her some people in this world simply have No Couth or hart and I will take care of this in a professional manner so here I'am writing this review so you know who you are which carelessly insulted me in front of my Gdaughter! This is my favorite Buffalo Exchange. I live in Philly and come to visit my dad in Arizona once a year. This particular Buffalo Exchange is always a hit for me and is much better than others I've visited in Somerville, MA, NYC Chelsea, Brooklyn, NY and Philly. I'm always finding items with tags still on the clothing. And the service is pretty good too. Haven't sold anything to this location so I cannot comment on that. read more

I use to be a HUGE fan of buffalo exchange until recently. Every time I go in, I pick something up and there is always something wrong with it. Last week I purchased a cute shirt for $22, which I though was a little over priced for used, but I purchased it anyways. Right when I got home I noticed the sleeve had a tear in it and there was a slight stain. For $22 I could have purchased a brand new top. This isn't the first time this has happened. Totally not impressed. I used to sell regularly at their old location and sometimes it was hit and miss depending on the buyer you get. This new location is totally pretentious! Although the location has a nice set up and all the fixtures were new, the employees that work here are so pretentious and snooty. They only took in items that were their style. The employees were all guys the day I visited (where the ladies at and where are the old employees?). They looked like stuck up hipsters with their tight jeans, vintage tshirts and fedora hats. They acted like they work for a high end boutique. C'me on, this is a second hand store and all walks of life people will come in to buy and trade. I clean out my closet once a year and donate what I don't use anymore but this time I decided to donate and make a little extra money. I decided to bring clothes to sell here and brought so many clothes, close to a total of 100 pieces of clothing. I had known brands in great shape some have never been worn. From Nike, Victoria Secrets, MK bags, Charlotte Russe heels, to Gym Shark. Out of all the clothing they only took about 4 pieces of clothing for $13. I walked around the shop and seen similar clothings and majority were damaged or looked very worn, yet they didn't want to take the ones I brought in. Also, for a thrift store these clothes are way too overpriced. A sweater is $30, crop tops $15, shoes around $30. Save a trip and go to Forever 21. If you are looking to sell, the app ThredUP. It's a better cause and they will donate the clothes that does not sell if you chose to. read more

Not impressed at all. Like many others, I have been coming to buffalo exchange for quite awhile. Checked out the new location and I didn't feel like I was even at a Buffalo exchange anymore.. yes there's definitely some cute clothes, & then there's clothing that makes you wonder, "how the hell did this get accepted in the store & my clothes I brought in to consign got rejected?!! ". A pair of earrings for $16 (used)?! I absolutely love goodwill waaay better. The wannabe hipsters and punks with septum piercings that work there should at least take one item of clothing from people willing to consign.. unless the clothes are unacceptably hideously frumpy or something but cmon! They are also Overpriced.. Everybody has their own sense of style so accepting clothing that's "in style" only, makes no sense at all.
