Don't sell your nice, expensive, designer clothing here. They don't seem to have a clue about fashion trends for different age groups. The staff are like 19 years old. They are completely clueless about what people in different age groups and different styles are interested in. They have no idea about trends, although they pretend to. They will turn down the coolest clothing item, but randomly decide to take your ugliest shirt. If they do take something nice from you, such as an imported, handmade, vintage leather jacket in perfect condition, they will give you about $6 for it. They remind me of thieves. I have been shopping here for years and seems like something has recently shifted, employees are dismissive and not really interested in customers. Quality of the clothes that are on the racks are cheap/lots of "new" product which when I think of thrifting, I don't want mass produced cheap clothing. Fitting rooms were really dirty, doesn't seem like they are ever swept or mopped. I did sell clothing here last week and had a positive experience with the buyer and was pleased with the credit I received from my clothing. This location is nowhere what it used to be. A few years ago the staff were so involved, personable...would remember your name. They took in unusual, unique and fun clothes. We would chat and have a good time, it felt like home. There was great vintage clothes. It's very cold now, kind of lifeless. Staff aren't the friendliest. I never find anything I want to buy. I'm not even sure who the demographic is for anymore, but it's definitely not plus size women. They used to be more size inclusive but the plus sizes have SHRANK drastically (see photos). The clothes on the racks are ironic choices that look like senior center cast offs. I'm sorry but I don't want to look like a grandma from 1986 or a slutty raver. Not sure why the low reviews. The Exchange is a valley staple and has been around for many decades. This location is smaller than the one in Tempe of course. I have a lot of downsizing to do and it is ridiculous how much clothes and jewelery I have accumulated over the years. Mostly now that I am retired out of the classroom all my jobs mostly are uniform only so I have no need for the mass of clothes I have in three closets. The times I have been here I have always been treated very kindly even being an older and maybe not as hip client base Ha! Heads up they are very picky on what they take usually only vintage or very young in-style hip or goth clothes Seem to be the norm for my things they accept. Even brand name jeans they have said no to. I asked today and they say they do better with real vintage or real vintage looking clothes. Now keep in mind this is from me an older woman. The things they take they pay better than any other place I have gone. The finds are amazing. I love their vintage purse collections. Great earring collections here too. They do get very busy. One star reviews for being popular are not very helpful. You can state that in your review without bashing the place for being busy. i would say go early weekdays exactly at 11am. I was first in line and a line formed already very fast for a Monday at 11am. Expect to wait for selling. Enjoy shopping in the meantime. Not sure if they allow you to leave while you wait. Do not waste your time coming here. The staff is unprofessional and, frankly, quite rude. Instead of treating customers with respect, they make jokes about the items you bring in and then turn around and offer little to no money for them. It feels dismissive and insulting. For anyone looking to sell their things, I strongly recommend skipping this place altogether. You'll have a much better experience and return by selling on Mercari, or even trying places like Plato's Closet. My friend and I went shopping today and were harassed by a man in a blue shirt--who we later found out was security. He kept asking about my friend, lingered near the dressing rooms looking for her, followed us around the store, and even waited by the door staring at us as we left. He then followed us outside and continued to watch us until we drove off. This behavior was incredibly creepy and made us feel unsafe. I read the reviews, so I was hesitant to go in. I'm so glad I went! I had a really nice experience. Diverse group of clerks all dressed cool and funky, everyone was super friendly. Girl at the dressing room was above and beyond friendly/ helpful. Buyer took much more of my stuff than I was expecting based on reviews. I saw lots of merchandise I was excited about! I bought a gorgeous denim jumpsuit that is sadly probably a little too warm for Phoenix-- but I effin' love it! It was new with tags, but the price was very reasonable. I can find cute things most trips to buffalo. But today when I asked to try on a full outfit. Hat, shoes, pants, jacket and t shirt. I was told that I can't try on the shoes and the hat together with the outfit in private. That I had to come out of the dressing room and remove my shoes and the hat that I'm wearing in front of them. And then go look at how I look.... In the mirror.... In the dressing room. When I told the associate that I was uncomfortable with that and that I would physically show her the hat and shoes upon my exit of the dressing room. Which she was standing right outside of working. She tried to remove them from my hands. I put all my items back besides a hoodie. And when checking our. The cashier asked if I was happy with my experience. And when I told her that I wasn't. She didn't even question why. I understand if you have issues with theft. But I didn't come to steal your items. The shoes had sensors on them. This store has gone downhill! Brought in 2 huge bags of designer stuff (including Burberry with tags on, never worn), buyers wanted none of it. Let me give you a play by play on my experience today. I took 10 items into the dressing room because thats the allowed amount. Left three items outside to try on and exchange with my decided No's. I put out all my no's and decided to add a few dresses to try on. This badly bleached hair guy wearing a white hat approaches me out of nowhere. He wasn't the person helping me before and says "I just noticed your wearing tagged merchandise on the floor. I can't have you do that you need to get your stuff out of the dressing room, so I can "turn it over" for new people." I said of course sir, I can tell by the tone in your voice I am causing you problems. I actually apologized for causing him to be so hostile. Never once did he apologize or even acknowledge how rude his chosen verbiage was. So his rudeness actually saved me money. I used my gift card bought the pants and never will return. BTW on my way out glanced over at the fitting rooms, how bout not a single person was in one. Hah! The freaking nerve. Not sure why he works in costumer service, WHEN HE HAS NONE! I hadn't for many years but wanted to give it a shot to unload some stale inventory from my vintage resale business. Vintage jeans, vintage trousers, high quality immaculate vintage clothing. You get the idea. The young man that helped me was extremely nice and accommodating. They took a few pieces off my hands for nearly no money. That's fine, I understand how things work. My problem is they turned away very good items under the guise of "slight signs of wear" and sold me a blouse that actually has a huge hole in it. Lol! Nobody is at fault......but come on guys! I was super excited to see that I was close to this location when I was running errands in the area. I usually go to the Tempe location so this was my first time visiting this one. It was during the week around 12:30pm, and I had a few garments to try and sell. There was a bunch of people trying to sell garments as well, so I had to wait about 15minutes. The employee who helped us was very friendly and she quickly looked through my stuff. She ended up taking about two garments of mine. I decided to go for store credit as they do tend to give you a little more money for what you sold instead of taking cash. There were round racks filled with garments everywhere, and I sadly wasn't impressed with the quality or brands of the garments. They had a pretty big selection of shoes, but the styles they had were ugly and they were not in good conditions. The garment racks were super full but nothing on them was good quality. Most of the shirts were faded, had armpit stains, and some of them were just straight up not in style. The prices were still high. I decided to walk over to one of the pant racks and give it a little look to see if I could find something. I was happily minding my own business and looking through the rack, when suddenly an employee decided to come on over and clean out the rack behind me. My back was facing her and I heard her whisper something under her breath . She then rudely asked me if the pants that were hung over the rack were mine. She didn't say excuse me, ask me if I needed help, or even ask me in a nice way. Of course they weren't mine so I told her, "no." She grabbed the pants, and hung them up annoyed.. I looked around some more and surprisingly found an ok looking sweater. I quickly grabbed it, tried it on, paid for it, and ran out the store. The customer service aspect is horrible at this location and nothing like the Tempe one. The lady working the fitting room was horrible as well, and the cashier wasn't friendly. I'm so glad the Tempe location is much closer to me. Their styles are great, the employees are friendly, and they have an awesome collection of designer items behind the counters. I brought a bunch on hangers nicely hung and organized for them and the intaker pretty much threw everything back sloppy and handed them back? It was my first time visiting this location and I was very impressed. I walked away with a new Zara dress that just happened to be on clearance. Score! This store i smaller than others I've been to but they had really cute clothes. I also saw a few jackets that I considered purchasing. I'll definitely return the next time we go to Taco Guild.
