If you'd like greeting cards, jewelry, and artwork made by local artists, then you must stop by. I've purchased a bunch of lovely items here for friends' birthdays as well as for myself, such as quirky birthday cards, desert Christmas ornaments, desert animal earrings (snake and scorpions), and some desert art. They also have clothing, and baby items. Rachel the owner is wonderful, one day in her shop I mentioned I was looking for animal jewelry and months later she noticed me in the coffee shop right next door and came and told me she received some Arizona wildlife handmade jewelry from an Arizona artist, Suzy Kormanik Schwanz. There were quails, snakes, and scorpions. So sweet! Now that's excellent customer service. If you're worried about parking, park behind the shop, enter the alley between 1st St and 2nd St, you'll see a giant mural, park in that lot. Rachel Malloy is perhaps the most unlikely local business owner to earn my admiration largely because I suck at being creative when it comes to shopping. Whether its clothing, trinkets, jewelry, or whatever, I'm really terrible at it. Most of my immediate and extended family is Arizona born and raised, so I've often sought out clothing and accessory stores that have AZ themed (and preferably AZ made) options. Low and behold, Bunky Boutique has been right under my nose all along. The name Bunky Boutique is actually a tribute to Rachel's grandmother whom she affectionately referred to as Bunky. Originally opened in 2007, their current Downtown location has been open since 2010 and shares a space with Giant Coffee on 1st Street just south of McDowell Road (just east of the CVS Pharmacy parking lot). Recently, Bunky also opened a new (and larger) location in the Terminal 4 Pre-Security shopping area at Sky Harbor Airport. The selection is small compared to most department stores, but their small Downtown location has a pretty surprising variety of items to choose from. Most of the inventory is geared towards their female clientele, but they've also got men's clothing, baby items, and decorative knick knacks to choose from as well. I've been here a number of times now. I've bought my brother (and myself) some t-shirts here, as well as some decorative items for friends (including an AZ themed tic tac toe board for a friend's housewarming). The prices vary depending on the items sold and vendors by in large are local independent brands. Not surprisingly this means you might pay a little more for certain items (a t-shirt I recently bought was priced at $35), but Yelp has your back. They've always honored the Yelp check-in that takes 15% off an in store purchase each time I've stopped in. Lastly, I must also complement the staff at the front of Bunky Boutique for their great gift wrapping services, which they've twice done for me for free. So thanks to Rachel for saving my behind and making me look like a gift giving genius time and again. I have no doubt the new Sky Harbor location will also surprise and intrigue men and women alike. I loved this shop! The owner was super friendly and there are all kinds of unique items from clothing to jewelry to souvenirs, many from local makers. I purchased a couple pieces of handmade jewelry though there were so many other things that caught my eye. This is a great place to treat yourself or grab a gift while supporting a small business. Bunky is a great little shop that you probably wouldn't find unless you were looking for it specifically, but would be happy to have found if you did. The owner Rachel (who is super super cute, more than willing to answer questions and make suggestions, and is very knowledgeable about the area) stocks her store with a lot of small label clothing (mostly for women), some cool artist-made jewelry, cool fedoras and trilbys and other hats, and purses including HOBO brand. There is a huge rack of cool t-shirts too including kid robot which I think is pretty cool. Some of the pricing may seem a little high, but if you found a lot of the stuff she sells elsewhere, you'd realize her pricing is really good. If you're in the area for First Friday or happen by another time, give this place a try. read more

This little local shop is truly a "hidden" gem because it's found in a coffee shop! Well, it's technically next door to the coffee shop, but still a little hard to find. However, once you do, you'll leave with bags full of goodies! Bunky Boutique sells unique accessories, jewelry and clothes for women, men and even babies! I especially love their jewelry because it's one of a kind and reasonably priced so it's a perfect gift. I also love their baby clothes because they sell little onesies with ties on them. This great boutique is located in the same building as Giant Coffee, and like Giant, is a good place to spend time & money! I was looking for some Easter basket filler, and since buying clothes for a woman is tricky at best, I chickened out and went with a gift card, along with a random little ring shaped like a audio tape. The employee (maybe owner?) was super friendly and helped make the gift card look great by wrapping it, and really went above and beyond in being helpful and nice, when this wasn't the biggest sale of the day. In looking around, Bunky offers a lot of interesting and cool looking items for men and women. I am told that the clothes are similar to what you might find at Anthropologie (that didn't help me, or prob. most guys, but maybe that helps you) In closing, grab a tasty drink from Giant, then go shop at Bunky. "Bunky Boutique" leaves my mouth at least three times a day. Ever since I went to their new beautiful space next to the Roosevelt, I found I a silver feather necklace that matches my brushed aluminum frames pretty well and people are automatically drawn to it. I am starting to feel pretty naked when I don't wear it! And considering the only other necklaces I own are pearl ones and my giant lobster necklace, this is a big style commitment. However, that wasn't my first purchase-it was the 1st for myself, but I have purchased many the fine t-shirt for Mr. Mustachio here (including a fine mustache shirt) for under $30, done by local designers, and guarenteed to not make you look like all the other Urban Outfitter douchebags that paid up to $50 bucks for a mass printed shirt that they probably stole from a local designer (shout out Johnny Cupcakes!) anyway. I learned about this boutique from participating in the Green Fashion Event at a bookstore January 2008 where Rachel's clothes were showcased. I popped in not too long after and was completely impressed by the selection, and the ladys duds are great BUT I find it hard to resist buying something for my mister everytime I walk in-from sweaters, polos, tees, jackets, belts, the best hats ever, to hand printed silk ties, the place is classy and edgy, a difficult combination to pull off. For all the moaning of prices, Frances Vintage is five xs the cost and everything is 1/3 the cost of Urban Outfitters-and you are supporting a local economy of local designers, crafswork and small business owners. If you want better prices and more selection, might as well go to Tempe Marketplace where international child labor keeps the cost of your hip t-shirt low instead of walking around your city, drinking beer from the roosevelt and cold-chillin' w/Rachel-your loss. read more

When I was out and about on Roosevelt being all cultured and looking at art and such, this place (right by Eye Lounge) drew me in like a magnet. They showcase all kinds of unique little treasures- hairclips, purses, jewelry, and crazy funky clothes! There are definitely things here that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. Unfortunately, whenever you find such unique items, you're also likely to find high prices! So, although you can find crazy stuff like tutu-skirts and Silence-of-the-Lambs-inspired hairclips here, be prepared to fork over a decent amount of dough! read more

The space is small but there is plenty to shop from. They had a nice assortment of apparel, jewelry, pins, cards and small gifts. This is my go-to spot anytime I need to find a gift for a birthday, an anniversary, Mother's Day, etc. The staff is extremely friendly -- the furthest thing from pushy -- and always equipped with recommendations. You can never be too presumptuous, but I assume I'd shop here even more often if I were of the female kind. Some of the items are on the pricier end- but they have pretty decent sale prices when things are marked down and some jewelry pieces that one can easily afford. I purchased a long cardigan sweater. It was very itchy even where I was covered with a shirt and jeans. I even washed it before wearing it. It was shedding everywhere. I wore it once and will not wear it again. I'll donate it. I purchased a gray top and after 2 washes the material is unraveling. There is mostly low quality items that are priced high based on being called a Boutique. This is low quality, fast fashion at boutique prices; it's not worth it. BEWARE: THERE ARE NO REFUNDS AT ALL! Even if you haven't worn the items, even if the price tag is still on, even if it's the day after you purchased it. Rachel you have a responsibility to your customers to let them know this prior to purchasing. I was at the register and had to ask your staff where the sign was. It's purposely hidden and hard to see. That is unethical. Also, I looked on your website, on every page and there was no return policy information posted. I let your staff know and asked where it was and she said she must have forgotten to post it. Now that I pointed that out, you posted it on your website. Don't hide it on your contact page. It should have it's own page called Return Policy. Be honest, be transparent. If you stood behind your products you would accept returns at least for 7 days if unused, tags still on. But you don't accept returns, because you don't sell quality items. This is bad business. read more

I love it when I go shopping and the owner of the store assists you with a smile, let's you shop without hovering over you and makes excellent recommendations that you missed!! I found so many cute clothes - - it was hard to restrain myself from spending all my money!! Items are moderately priced but worth it when you consider you are supporting a local entrepreneur and the independent, local designers that sell their clothes there on consignment. This place is adorable! Tucked away in a house next door to The Roosevelt is this fabulous little spot. They have a variety of men's, women's, and children's clothes as well as various accessories. It's very clean, organized, and the staff are friendly. I really like that many of the clothes are very simple and classic and not too bohemian (which I seem to find a lot of in places similar to Bunky). I have already fell in love with the fabulous clutch by Hobo. The gal that was working showed me hers after 4 years of wear and tear and it still looked in decent shape! Now I just need to raise the $92 to make it mine and then see if I can manage to decide on a color! read more

This place is awesome, exactly what Phoenix needs. They have cool clothes by local and hip vendors, like RVCA. They have tshirts, jackets, hats, dresses, jewelry, all things that you won't come across just anywhere. That is the great thing, it is independent and not your run of the mill clothing store, the stuff is actually cool. Not to mention is a locally owned. The prices are high, but hey, it is stuff you won't find just anywhere and I don't feel bad about supporting a local business that is part of a great cultural change in downtown.
