Does everyone shop with rubber gloves on in these stores? I don't like the funk that a lot of thrift stores have either. HOWEVER I'm fully on board with not shopping fast fashion and buying second hand being a better alternative, so I'm trying to find a happy medium. At least Monk feels curated such that I don't feel like I have to dig too much before I find something cute. And I saw several cute items at this store. Yes, I usually do spend like $40+ on an item from here but that's less than I'd spend on a new item. I found a gorgeous mesh and beaded dress and a silk skirt that I still cherish from here. You may have to come back regularly to get lucky and find something you like, but I think they have a pretty wide selection of items. Lately I've opted to mostly rent my clothes so I still get the experience of having new clothes without buying new fast fashion but during the occasional thrift sojourn I'll stop in here to browse.

The girl who helped get her size was super nice and checked in to see how she was liking them. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, but be sure to go in with the mindset that it is curated vintage and not thrifting as far as the pricing is concerned. They know what their stuff is worth and charge that.

I usually go into vintage and thrift stores with specific styles and pieces in mind, and I can generally find what I want or something similar here because the selection is so extensive! The prices here are very fair too, compared to other stores in the area. Plus, the staff here are very relaxed and kind! I recently came in with my friend who has diabetes so she keeps a pack of candy on her in case her blood sugar gets low. Although food or drink isn't allowed in the store, we explained her condition to the worker at bag check-in and they were very accommodating and allowed her to keep the candy on her.

I've been here many times since I live around the corner. I used to have some luck when they first…read moreopened in the neighborhood but, lately as in in recent years , I haven't had much luck selling. Also, I try to go there to get shoes and I never have luck. I wear a 6 1/2 to a seven you would think that they would have at least three pairs of those in the store. Most of their shoes are very large sizes(9-12). Their prices are not good at all. I would say their location in Williamsburg is much better, but even then their prices are a little too high in general, particularly in Ridgewood.
