Update: the following day after consuming this burrito, I became quite ill. I cannot be 100% sure about the source, but I'm pretty sure it was this burrito. Dining method: Dine-in Speed: Fast. Food came out in under 10 minutes. Ambiance: Bare bones ~healthy~ fast food place. Not much ambiance to report. Item(s) ordered: Thai burrito, guacamole, stuffed jalapeño Value: Honestly, the prices are pretty good, at about $11 per specialty burrito. The review: What Bueno y Sano needs is Sabor (taste). Incredible-sounding menu that, when put into practice, doesn't quite make it. I ordered the Thai burrito with seitan. It had an underwhelming Asian-esque sauce with very little taste but was also kind of gross. I had to buy guac to try and make it less bland. The guac was nice and fresh avocado with garlic and lime--highly recommend. We also ordered a stuffed jalapeño that was...minimalist at best (just kidding, the dish looks like a joke). Pictures on Google reviews will show you that it looks like an actual dish with salsa and garnish. If Bueno y Sano is your only option, then I'd go less adventurous, like a bean burrito. Or perhaps their quesadilla--my friend got the chicken one and enjoyed it. Had high hopes but unfortunately this one didn't quite pull through. read more

I used to go to Bueno back in the day. I do not go now due to getting Oscar's now which is better. The burritos are the best of the menu but are average. The steak quesadillas are good. The service is good. They did not mess up my order in the past. The building looks dirty and not well maintained. read more

It's okay. Not great. Made it clear that rice was a no go. Diabetes and carbs don't mix. They included rice.

A favorite Mexican place of mine. The burritos are huge and full of fresh ingredients, and I love how you can order multiple meat options. Be sure to ask about their specials, which are not on the menu, like the most recent (steak, chicken, & shrimp!) that I've been enjoying a lot. I also love that you can get cilantro, garlic, and sour cream as add-ons for no extra charge. Be sure to mention whatever of those you would want, otherwise I don't think they would add them in. Fantastic. First time here with my wife since our son was just down the road taking a 2 hour soccer course. We passed a pizza place and decided we can get pizza anywhere. Came into Bueno Y Sano (means Good and Healthy) and had a delicious Thai Burrito and Steak Bowl. Amazing. Just amazing. Added side of chips with guacamole. Guacamole was one of the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, we live 1 hour away or I'd be here on a weekly basis... I guess that's also good. Highly... highly recommend Bueno Y Sano. The Burrito Bowl was truly awful. The vegetables were soggy, old, and smooshy. The deep fried Tilapia (the cheapest fish) seemed oily and unhealthy, and I was afraid to eat it. To top it all off, they poured Thousand Island dressing (ketchup plus mayo, and how is that Mexican?) all over the top which I tried to remove by trying to scrape off which was almost impossible, and so I had to discard a whole layer of lettuce and Pico on top. The place also was dingy, seemed unhygienic, and seemed like it needed serious refreshing and cleaning. And at night, I had diarrhea. read more

This place is no bueno! There is no seasoning on anything, I've never had a bland fajita quesadilla that tastes like NOTHING before and was swimming in tasteless grease too. I wasn't thinking clearly when I stopped at Bueno Y Sano to grab dinner on cinco de mayo. It was obviously slammed but I wasn't in a rush so I opted to stay and order something to go. It ended up taking 30 min and it turned out they had lost my ticket. They were juggling in person, phone and online orders so it was bound to happen to someone and I felt I was the dumb dumb getting Mexican on cinco de mayo so didn't hold it against them in the least. There was a guy (I'm guessing the owner) who was helping to expedite things behind the counter and make sure no one was waiting long. When he noticed me waiting longer than others he stepped in to figure out where my ticket was. He got my order completed immediately and gave complimentary chips as an apology for the mix up. The food is good, the portions are generous and now I can also say their customer service keeps me going back. Mix ups and lost tickets happen but their response to the fix was better than most places, especially on their super bowl day. read more

They get a star for having some vegan options and for being creative. But the total jerks behind the counter ruin the experience. In the time of Covid, when small restaurants are hurting, this place seems filled with jerks who think customers are a pain the ass. First, using Grub Hub to get a meal -- we asked for extra salsa... the little tiny cups you get at the counter and fill for free. They charged TWO DOLLARS for a little cup of sauce to put on the burrito. A condiment they have for free costs $2 when ordered at the height of a pandemic. Strike One. I'd gotten the free sauce many times before and can't believe they'd charge (without asking if it was OK to do so) $2 for it. I order 2 different sauces... so it was $4 I didn't expect or approve. Next, I asked at the counter one evening if the President-type burrito could be made with seitan (a meat made from plants). The jerk at the register responded that seitan could only be served with chicken, chicken and shrimp, and then listed every meat item they sell. I was confused... the plant made meat could only be served with real meat? -- I asked. He didn't care that it didn't make sense, so I ordered something else. Best part: waited for an order to be completed, kind of a busy evening. We were talking about some tortilla chips -- since we were getting food to go, I thought (incorrectly) that we could just take a bag with us. So I took a bag after picking up the food and turned to walk out. Three of the guys behind the counter started shouting -- loudly -- at me to stop. Asking if I paid for those. Yelling that they weren't free. Made me feel like common thief. I apologized and put them back. No need to ever shout at a customer... especially one 12" from the counter. Let them keep their precious chips -- I've had my fill of dealing with unpleasant people. Lots of great places to get food... these jerks don't deserve the customers. read more

One of the best burritos I've had in my life. I've been there before, and I usually am tempted to get animal food when I do. Today I resisted, and I got the mixed vegetable burrito, with her guacamole added on. Food is not cheap these days, and although it cost around 12 bucks, it was a delight. My advice is to be sitting down, and have lots of napkins, because there is plenty of juice in there. Delicious zucchini, peppers, onions, mushrooms, rice and avocado in a moist and well wrapped burrito. The man who took my order was a machine. The best tacos I've ever had EVER! The pulled pork has crunchy buts that are a delicious burst in every bite. Steak tacos are real pieces of steak. Super flavorful and juicy, not dry. Salsas are fresh, homemade and perfectly spiced. Friendly and fast service. read more

Definitely not bad! Portions are huge too, so fits the price, and they have some really creative fusion burritos. However, definitely nothing compared to real taquerias for me. meh came here a few times and had the same experiences. This is not mexican food or even halfway decent burritos. I think after my initial review I came back and my whole burrito was cold. Instead of trying to fix it the guy was like yeah - thats b/c we keep the sauce in the fridge. I am from here, and after living in NYC and CA for 20 years, I think in this less diverse area, people here have no idea what good Mexican or even ethnic food is. As a Mexicano, I have pretty high standards for Mexican food, but try to tame expectations considering how far northeast we are. Since moving to the area, I've noticed that most of these Mexican food spots are not Mexican owned/operated -- It isn't always that obvious, but is definitely obvious with Bueno y Sano. "Bueno y Sano" directly translates to "Good & Healthy" in English... and the menu is far from that. It's just another gimmicky spot that has appropriated Mexican cuisine for a population of folks that can't tell what's real from what's not. Kudos to Bob Lowry who apparently founded this place for identifying a good business opportunity; shame on Bob for such mid food. read more

When it comes to Mexican food, I have "cautious" tastes... in other words, I don't do spicy and, being a bad Italian, I don't do veggies. BUT I really enjoy the chicken burritos here. Good quality ingredients! I'd like there to be more chicken in them, but the rest is so good I look past that detail, and actually ENJOY vegetables. Prices seem fair. Service is always friendly and FAST! They are always busy but I have never waited more than 5 minutes for my order (which is always to go). Parking can be a pain, though. The only other item I have tried was the fish taco, but by the time I got it home it was squishy (about 16 miles). Probably better to have anything fried fresh at the location. read more

Stopped in to grab a quick dinner. Mixed feelings. Some good. Some bad. - Parking lot entry is weird. Best if you are coming north on 27. Otherwise you have to turn left through 2 lanes of traffic backed up for the light. + All the menu items have calorie count listed. - Yikes. A quesadilla has over 1,000 calories. + The guy who took our order was great. Helped us out with ordering. Yes a quesadilla is big enough to split. Bean choice. Rice choice. You can get free water from the soda machine. - restaurant is loud. Probably the acoustics since there were only about a dozen people there. - food took forever to come up. But not really. After 20 minutes I went to ask about it. Apparently it had been ready for a while. Some one claimed they had been calling our number. But with only a dozen people in the restaurant, nobody could make the effort to find us. End result- we got cold food. And it was my fault for not coming when they called my number. - too much cheese in the quesadilla. You could probably drop 200 calories by cutting back on the cheese. And drop the price a buck + rice and beans were tasty. Were probably amazing hot! So 5 negative and 3 positive ends up being a drop of 2 stars. read more

I made the mistake of trying Bueno y Sano as nearby delightful Oscar's Burritos was closed for vacation this week. Ordered a chicken burrito, very basic request. The meat was bland, the black beans were undercooked (no refried beans available), the tortilla was dry and under-steamed. The burrito was mostly rice and a lot of iceberg lettuce which I didn't ask for and didn't help with the overall bland flavor of the burrito. Avoid this place. read more

I'll make this good and simple, much like the restaurant. Bueno y Sano is a nice, quick, fresh Mexi/Cali joint serving up bowls, burritos, tacos, and the like - stuffed with fresh ingredients. Along with the traditional proteins, Bueno y Sano offers tasty and garlicky spinach amd vegetarian alternatives like tofu or Asian, tossed in various (albeit it, oddly chosen) sauces like BBQ or Buffalo. There's really no poor choice on the menu, get creative, go nuts, and enjoy! read more

Disappointed today. I've been to another location and they had an amazing salsa bar and fresh chips. Stopped by this location and didn't realize they charged for salsa until after I got my chips and sat down. The chips were definitely not house made, but rather from a bag/grocery store. My son ordered a bean burrito, which had a sprinkling of beans but mostly rice. My daughters bean taco was a good size and fine.My bowl (East/west) was fine, but the cost to add the beef was too much for the amount of beef I actually got. Overall just fine/average. read more

Very good ingredients and service, but if you like rice in your burritos (unless you REALLY like rice in your burritos), maybe think again because their business model involves saving money by giving you about 70% rice. I really want to like this location (My introduction to Bueno was with their Noho/Amherst locations) but they Acton is so hit or miss. My husband and I went last month and got a take out order (as we usually do). We also usually order 2 burritos each so we have one for the next day. I hate beans, so I always ask for no beans. Well, on this particular day both my burritos had beans (one of my husbands didn't). Yesterday we went back, placed our usual orders. I didn't feel like the kid taking our orders was really listening, so I was getting nervous. My burritos didn't have beans thankfully, but they were labeled weird and that kind of turned me off. The first burrito had no flavor, no taste, and barely any meat in it. I haven't gotten to the second one yet. I also ordered their 3 grilled jalapeños. Whoever made the cheese filling clearly forgot to add flavor because the jalapeños were bland as hell. Enough to make me never order them again. This place is DELICIOUS! I'm very confused by the negative reviews. This spot is well run, clean, professional and executes delicious Mexican food that is extremely fresh and tastes wonderful. We stopped in on a Wednesday and ordered the kids quesadilla, BBQ chicken burrito, veggie burrito and 3 flour soft ground beef tacos. Everything tasted wonderful and the service was quick and prompt. This is the perfect place to stop in for high quality, AUTHENTIC Mexican cuisine. I highly recommend any of their tacos, burritos, salads, or quesadillas. Back for round 2, and the burrito was sampled. Spicy BBQ chicken to be exact. And... wow, it could not have been more boring. Complete lack of spice, and not a sign of 'BBQ' in there. Rice and beans filled the wrap, with a little chicken here and there. After several bland bites (and peeling away the excessive flaps of wrap), I added their signature 'pump-your-own' hot sauce.. to no avail. For $8 I was full, but found absolutely no pleasure in the meal. Just.. constant disappointment with every bite - the burrito only became worth eating when I brought out my own private stash of hot sauce and sour cream. Kim went with the buff chix again - since they were the best of the bunch on our first trip in. Sadly, even those lost their luster, leaving her with a "smokey" aftertaste.. the kind of "cigarette butts". I didn't notice the burnt flavor - since I didn't notice ANY FLAVOR. Very bummed. Pretty solid Mexican Food option for the area. Quick service relatively tasty grub all the way around. The drawbacks are parking and seating - both are very limited and because it's right across the street from the local high school / middle school the place gets inundated at lunch hours so it's tough to get in and out of the place.
