Came here when it wasn't very busy on a Sunday night. The staff was very attentive and we really enjoyed it here. The chips and salsa to start with delicious. We got a large guacamole and that was really good also- refreshing and not too salty. I got the steak fajitas. It was good overall. They are also very generous with their portions. El Huipil is one of my favorite spots in Acton. Very cute spot with a lot of character. Food is an 8.5/10 in my opinion, but the margaritas are what keeps me coming back. I have loved both the jalepeño and the blood orange so one day I asked them to combine them and let me tell you it is one of the best I have ever tasted. Food wise, I love the enchiladas, tacos, and the quesadillas. I am constantly bringing friends here and everyone always leaves full, happy, and usually has a good buzz. The location isn't great, but they have done what they can with the place and I really admire that. If you are sitting outside service can be kind of slow, but otherwise everything is amazing. Would highly recommend to anyone currently residing in Acton, or passing through. read more

We came here for lunch and it was quite busy. We really love the decoration at this place. We ordered El Huipil Wings (excellent, tasteful), beef tacos (good but beef was a little dry), and sizzling fajitas with steak and shrimp (good but we definitely prefer shrimp one). Went there for a lunch and drinks with a friend. We had a great time. The server/ bartender was very friendly and welcoming. The Margaritas were delicious!!! I particularly fell in love with the ceviche, perfect amount of salt and lime, it was just out of this world, and their green spicy sauce was also amazing, couldn't stop putting a little bit of it in every single bite. My friend was extremely attracted to the sopes, since she never tried them before, she loved them. We ordered a few tacos as well, the Al pastor and the carnitas are definitely a must try. For dessert, we had the Sopapillas, which they were incredibly flavorful and had a bit of crunch texture topped with caramel, hands down was my favorite dessert ever. Food was fine, not great. But the experience with our waitress left us with an awful feeling, and we will not be going back again. First, when we sat down she asked if we wanted chips and salsa and guacamole. I assumed the guac cost extra and we did not get it, but her tone and approach to offering it made it sound like it was all the same. I actually wondered if they charged for chips! When we got the menu we noticed the fine print that said "first order of chips and salsa are free". Before taking our order she asked if we wanted more chips and salsa (without any indication it would cost money). Luckily we had already read the fine print. My daughter ordered the kids taco meal ($6.50). We asked how many tacos that was. Waitress said 1, but you can get more--just tell me how many you'd like. We said 2 please, assuming there would be some upcharge for an extra taco. I asked if it came with shredded cheese. She said yes, it comes with it. My son ordered a tostada. He asked if there were beans on it. The waitress checked with the kitchen and came back and said no, there are no beans on it. The meal came. They put 2 kids meals in front of my daughter--each a large plate with a taco, side of rice, and side of beans! And there was a separate side bowl of cheese. And my son's tostada had refried beans in it. We didn't say anything because he was okay with eating it. She had used a handheld machine to take our order. When it was time to pay, she wasn't even going to print out the bill. She said. That'll be $61. I said, isn't there a bill to look at? Oh... Sure, I can print one out. As you might have predicted, we were charged $13 for that kids meal (2 x $6.50). AND $1.25 for a side of shredded cheese! I asked to talk to the manager. I felt like the waitress was deceiving us by not telling us what they were charging us for, then trying to not even show me the bill. There was no manager on duty. So I talked with a 2nd waitress. I explained everything. She told me the other waitress was "new" and basically chuckled and shrugged it off. She even said oh, she should have just charged you for an extra taco for $2.50. So that was an option? I was like, how could a waitress really think that what we wanted was 2 kids meals? And I said what about the $1.25 for cheese?? Our waitress said she made a mistake--it doesn't come with it. And when I told our waitress, FYI, just so you know the Tostada DOES have beans in it. She said, thanks for letting me know. There was no sorry or apology. The 2nd waitress offered to take $1.25 off our bill for the cheese charge! We did see the 2nd waitress talking to our waitress when we left. But that whole experience left us with a bad taste in our mouth (no pun intended!). And I really question whether this experience was "because she's new" or if it's because they trained her to conduct herself this way. When the 2nd waitress shrugged it off, I explained that this should be a learning experience for this waitress. I explained, your restaurant got $4 for charging us for 2 kids meals. But we will probably never return. So did you really win? She was not taking it seriously and I get the feeling that they don't really care. read more

How can you not like this place?! The location is nothing special, but they make it their own and with their addition of outdoor seating in the warmer months it's lovely. I enjoy that it's on the bike/walking trail (well, quite close) so after a big ride you can chill with a tasty margarita. That's another thing! The margaritas are awesome. The "cheaper" versions are tasty, but the "Cadillac" is very good and comes in an overbearing glass just as ridiculous as the car it's named after. The food is delicious. Period. Went here for the first time and it won't be our last. To start, we had chips, salsa, and guacamole. I ordered 4 tacos (lengua, al pastor, chorizo, and carnita) with a side of rice. The lengua was but into thick slices, which I've never had in that way, but it was extremely tender and flavorful. The al pastor was fantastic.. these two would be the ones I order again. I'll also ask for a slice of lime to use with the tacos. The chorizo was ok and the carnitas were a little too dry for my liking. Yikes. I was in the area for work and figured I'd stop here for lunch, knowing nothing about the place except Mexican sounded good. I ordered a chicken burrito with the "red sauce." Not salsa, "sauce." That should have been my first sign. The service for takeout was quick; they brought it out in less than 10 minutes. I took the bag and styrofoam box with the burrito the 20 feet to my car and saw the box was dripping with the "red sauce." I thought that was odd because usually the contents of a burrito are inside it, but I brought it back with an open mind. I attached a photo of the burrito. Wow. The tortilla was bizarrely slathered in this "red sauce" that tasted like watered down BBQ sauce with no zest or heat to it. I believe one of the ingredients was canned tomato paste or sauce because of the strange bright orange hue it left my hands. You absolutely could not hold it without getting the red sauce all over your hands and clothes, so I tried to eat it with a fork and knife. They advertised "jack cheddar cheese" on the menu and the shredded cheese on top of the red sauce on the outside of the burrito (???) looked like plasticky Kraft "cheese." The sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo were all, weirdly, lumped outside the burrito itself. I thought the purpose of a burrito was to have the contents inside it...? The taste of the burrito's contents (just dark meat chicken, refried beans and rice) was a mix of bland and truly bad. I tried to eat the burrito but every time I'd smell it, it smelled kind of mildewy, like the smell of a dishwasher and I just threw it out. I couldn't believe it was $13. Never again. read more

As we sat down I immediately noticed that the curtains in the dining area need to be washed ... very discouraging... what does it say about cleanliness elsewhere ...Also please don't store the silverware in the bathroom area hallway , not sanitary at all. The menu has been updated and as stated in another review you are charged for the chips, salsa and guacamole. The corn chips were too thick and tasted awful. We ordered the top shelf margaritas, did not seem as though there was any alcohol in them at all... My husband ordered the shrimp fajitas and stated it was good however not enough shrimp ... still hungry... I had the chicken burrito, which absolutely was most likely had been frozen and microwaved... honestly a joke... there were bits of chicken ? that were diced to a size smaller than a dime ... the burrito was too small as well ... you can probably get better ones at your local supermarket... insulting ... This place got us through the pandemic. We've been ordering takeout from here every other week or so since September and have never been disappointed. Good variety on the menu, including gluten free and vegetarian options. We like the green enchiladas, enfrijoladas, guacamole, and margaritas! Our takeout orders are always ready for pickup on time, the price is right, and everyone who works there is so friendly. We are also looking forward to dining in at some point---they have a cute outdoor seating area with plenty of tables. We feel so lucky to have this place in town. read more

This is the worst restaurant I have ever tried to eat at. The food had to be thrown away. The chicken enchilada had a few tiny pieces of chicken, barely recognizable and was dead for days. The red sauce was burned off and sour, a tiny piece of plain lettuce came with this. The tortilla was burned out and non existent. This is dog food and should not be consumed by humans. I grew up in Arizona and was constantly having fresh traditional Mexican food, when I moved to Massachusetts I was on a desperate search for any good Mexican food! Freshly Prepared, Great service Went on a Sunday night with my family. I take my Mexican food seriously and El Huipil did not let me down. I had the Pollo con Mole and my wife had Enchiladas with tomatillo salsa, both were excellent and I believe the Mole was scratch-made. The mole was served with chicken pieces still on the bone and the flavor of the Mole showed care of preparation. The kids shared Nachos that was gigantic and well appointed with lots of goodies, followed by Fried Ice Cream and Churros, way good and large portions. Several other items on the menu that I am looking forward to trying out, like the Carnitas and the Lengua. My wife also had a Marguarita and she said it was excellent.
