Recently picked up a car in Stuart, FL, and dropped off in Savannah, GA, a week later. When i ordered on line, i was informed the rental would be $450, but a deposit if $526 was required. Low and behold, i dropped the car off two hours early, which changed the rental agreement, meaning the $76 extra deposit was "non refundable". Rude owner/operator. Car was dirty. They literally tossed us the keys and made us find the vehicle in the lot ourselves. Didn't even go over the car. Do not recommend this location. Charged a cleaning fee once returned. Had to dispute it with corporate. Glad I take pictures. read more

My sisters rented a car for me here and they wouldn't let me pick it up -- even though it was in my name. She had put it on her credit card when she made the reservation. She pre-paid it for me - I'm guessing that's the issue. I asked if we could just put it under my credit card and they said if we called and lied to the Budget corporate office it would be fine. They wanted us to say we'd failed the credit check. Why wouldn't you simply allow someone to change the credit card without lying to the Budget corporate office. When we asked why they didn't inform us when we made the reservation the customer service agent said, "it's in the terms & conditions." Any business that suggests lying to get around a policy should be avoided. read more

Worst rental car service ever! They are basically price gouging during the pandemic stating the national rental car shortage. The woman who works there is rude and obnoxious. She will do anything she can to charge you for extra cleaning and gas when you return the vehicle. Even after filling the gas tank she says it had more when picked up and charges $11 a gallon.. SMH. I have been unable to leave Florida and go back home to New York due to corona virus. I have a car from Budget and needed to extend it twice. Both times they made it easy to do this and only took 5 minutes. In a time when people are worried about trying to stay healthy, they don't need extra stress, and Budget made my life easy. Special mention to Belvia who was not only expeditious in extending my rental, but showed concern for my health by wiping down my pen and credit card. I hope Budget continues to hire people as conscientious as Belvia. read more

If you need a truck don't do it here! Budget called 15 minutes before supposed to pick up and no trucks at this location. Sent me 45 miles away to pick up another truck with $20 dollars compensation and the mileage cost were .79 cents a mile. So the extra 90 miles I paid for got me $20 bucks. So shady and unethical. The place is a dump, but the car was clean and fine and I even got upgraded. If you need to rent a car in Stuart, Budget is OK to use. read more

We have rented at Budget preferring them over Avis or Enterprise for 10 y at least 15X per year and always received good service from JODY. This time was different the new Agent at pick up had a rude attitude but nothing compares to the return last night which was a total fiasco. We arrived at 5:30 with one customer ahead of us(the agent took her time and discussed the OPRAH show etc etc. while I waited). At 5:50 she began the return. I had filled the car up on the way to Budget. She insisted it was not full although the pointer was directly on full. She stated "I worked at Toyota and full on these cars is above the mark." She insisted I had to go to the gas station or be charged. The car was on 8/8 and she demanded a Toyota be returned at 10/8 full. ?? No problems at all -- did online reservation - pick up and return efficiently handled. Entrance come up quick - but clearly marked. I did not find the attendant rude at all; perhaps detached. I dont know what the other review 'pulled credit card' means ~ but she had to give cc # to him - which means she authorized something. read more

On March 27th at 1130 I supposed to have picked up a 24' truck and car carrier from the Budget at 1801 S Federal Highway Stuart FL. I placed the reservation a few weeks ahead of the pick up date, called march 20th to confirm the reservation for the 24' truck and car carrier; the lady said call the day before to verify. I called Sunday March 26th, the day before pick up to confirm the truck and carrier was ready for pick up tomorrow the young man says "yeah" I responded "would you like my name or confirmation number? I have to make sure the truck and carrier is ready, the move is a tight schedule and we're moving 800 miles away" the man responded quickly "yeah we have it" then the conversation ended. That should have been a red flag to me right there. So Monday March 27 my husband and I drive to the pick up location. We wait without being greeted for a few minutes then the lady asked us how may I help, we handed her our print out with our confirmation number, truck etc. information and she says it's not ready, it's overdue for an oil change and she can't let us have the truck until the oil is changed. I respond: you're kidding me, I called a week ahead, a day ahead and here we are (after an 1.5 hour drive there) and you're telling me the truck isn't ready, the carrier isn't even hooked up. She responded why don't you go get lunch then come back and see if it's ready. Seriously? No we had a reservation. The guy said it was ready and now we get there and it's not. We stressed we were on a tight schedule, made the appointment for a reason so we just had to pick up and go after inspecting the truck. She didn't even apologize or try to make it right. I asked for the managers card and left. I'll be honest this is the WORST customer service I have EVER received. No joke. I didn't bother calling the manager for the simple fact of it wasn't going to make the truck magically be ready OR change the oil, or the fact that the tires were low on tread at the front and we had a 800 mile trip ahead, or the fact that the car carrier/trailer connector for the lights was nothing but shredded wires! There was no connector, just the wire tips bare and corroded. I suggest no one ever rent from Budget I know my friends and family won't after my experience. I ended up calling Penske down Federal Highway, they had better pricing, newer trucks, and far better customer service! We even had a nail in one of the trailer tires and within an hour and a half they came out and changed the wheel/tire to a brand new one no questions asked. For any future moves we will go with Penske. read more
