Horrible service at this location. I was mistreated, spoken to disrespectfully, and charged against my will by the branch manager, Jennifer. She refused to let me pay with my debit card, spoke in a condescending and rude tone, and blocked me from renting from Hertz altogether. It felt like she was using her power to do whatever she wants, with zero regard for the customer. This is not how a major company like Hertz should be represented. I later found dozens of reviews complaining about the exact same behavior from the same manager. Even the police were involved -- and they understood and supported me. I just picked tip a car at hertz in Stuart, I called a head and asked if I was good to come down . We went out side to take pics and look at car I open the door and as you can see from the pictures I'm going to take , it's pretty dirty. It looks like it was a car used for a porn movie besides dandruff or cigarette ash all over the seats, which you will see the pictures in the dash dirty and I brought this up to him three times and he said this is the only car he has. Please call to confirm if they have cars available. I mistakenly relied on Hertz's system, which let me make a reservation even though they were sold out. When I arrived, manager Warren Tassy said they had cars but couldn't give me one due to Monday morning reservations. I don't understand why they can't just allow current rentals instead of holding cars for future reservations. read more

They didn't have the car that I rented, it had a check engine light, which was a guaranteed model, but they located one at PBI. And since I was driving by there it all worked out. They were very apologetic and did the best they could. Customer service was amazing, which is why I continue to rent with Hertz. read more

I went online to reserve a car. The cost was $22 a day. When I walked in they didn't have a car available instead of honoring the $22 a day they charged me $84 a day. And because I was renting a car for two weeks I didn't have the funds to cover so I shortened my rental. That being said when they actually got a car in at $22 a day which they charge me $44 a day for, they placed four holds on my card over $1200. Then they wanted to charge me again for $450. The guy working there try to Accommodate me but the manager was like no. I called Hertz corporate and they credited me $105 so I was only charged $159 for a three day rental. They still put a hold on my card for $1200. Making it unusable. I have rented from hertz 4 times this year. Never had a problem before. read more

I want to express my appreciation for the gentleman working on April 1, 2022 at around noon. We had a reservation but I didn't realize I made it for the wrong day, the 2nd. That would have spoiled our vacation plans. I asked the gentleman if he had anything to give us. He said he would check what was being cleaned. Amazingly he had a fire hybrid suv. I made a reservation to pick up a vehicle that was not ready when I arrived. They asked me to wait an additional 30 minutes or pay an up charge for a different vehicle. I was unable to wait and they made no accommodations. I've never been treated so poorly as a customer at any rental car agency. The manager Shannon that was there was both unprofessional with her coworkers and does not know how to treat customers. I made a reservation Monday morning for a car rental Wednesday afternoon. I called Wednesday afternoon and they said that they had no cars available and to call back later. When I asked what the purpose of the reservation was. The person got angry and hung up on me. So I drove to the location and there were at least five cars there. I went inside and immediately told they had a car available. The individual I spoke with on the phone became extremely upset. He proceeded to threaten me with bodily harm going so far to tell me he knew my address. The manager came out and gave me keys to a car. While they were doing paperwork he came back out to tell me he spoke with HR and they would not be renting me car. The individual who threatened me name is John. Don't know why I continue to use hertz because they keep giving me crap service. Called ahead to be sure they had the extra add on I reserved. Was assured they did when they clearly knew they did not! Insisted the car had what I wanted handing me the keys when it did not. 30 minutes later they have my $$$ and I still have no car! Do not rent from Hertz. There is a large deposit held..largest from any rental company I've used before. The Hertz drop off at BWI never closed my contract so I was charged $72 a day until the woman on the phone "magically" closed it when I asked to speak to her supervisor. She stated initially she had to email them to get the contract closed. (I offered the BWI Hertz phone number to assist her because an email resolution was sh**. ) My funds (the deposit plus the extra charges) will be released per my bank timeline BUT she stated the funds would be released in 24 to 48 hours..so I'm confused as to what timeline I should follow. (She became frustrated when I asked her again to tell me the timeline) I will never rent from Hertz for business needs nor pleasure. They are unhelpful, unprofessional and unintelligent when resolving issues. They should take customer service lessons from Chick-fil-A and not their neighboring rental companies at BWI. read more

My rental was filthy and had a sticker that it was sanitized. Crumbs and liquid spills on doors and floors. Said they would clean it again. Continued to be filthy. I was on a time line so I had to leave with this dirty car. Vacuumed it myself but while driving north had ants biting my ankles and legs. I read the Yelp reviews and went anyway because it was a convenient location. I wish there was zero stars. Picked up cargo van to bring some furniture home. he spent 10 minutes taking picture of outside of van but never looked inside. Got to my destination and opened the van not only was it extremely dirt but it appeared someone threw up in It. Called the location for 40 minutes and no answer. Horrible- stay away- too many hoops to jump thru- we couldn't put car in one name and charge with other registered drivers credit card. Thus, couldn't use AAA card and had to pay extra for child seat!!! Mind you, this was all done via phone TWO WEEKS AGO!!! Rented from here while my car was in the shop. I called ahead, there was a good selection of vehicles, and when I arrived the process was easy. I waited for my turn at the counter, which was only 5 minutes. All the staff seemed to be efficient with other renters who were there before me. I picked up a car from ft. Lauderdale and immediately could hear some mechanical issues with it. I decided to call to get a replacement but none of the close by rentals had a replacement for me. One about 30 miles away did but began to challenge me with making me pay for repairs. Decided to cancel rental agreement and drop the car off at the closest hertz which was in Stuart. They not only assured me that common sense came into play, but replaced the rental with an upgrade. They were polite and courteous from the beginning. Picked up rental at Ft.Lauderdale airport (7/9/18); nice, new, clean vehicle, and great customer service....easy and fast pickup. Had only needed the car for 4 hours, but Hertz didn't offer a half day or hourly rate.....no problem, I understand. Was charged for a full days rental (24 hours), and figured since I'm paying for 24 hours, I'm in no hurry to turn it back in. Took the car back the next day (less than 24 hours) still within the rental I paid for and the local agent at 1616 Federal Hwy, Stuart branch charged me a $12 late fee. I'm not one to squabble over such a small amount but I didn't understand why that would be since I returned the vehicle in less than 24 hours. The agent explained to me that because I said I was only going to use the car for 4 hours, it was now late.....even though I returned it within the 24 hour time period I was originally charged. He said I was lucky he didn't charge me another days rate (@$147/day). How can you charge me a second day when I haven't even had the car for a full 1 day? We argued in circles for several minutes, in front of other customers and agents until a manager came out and reversed the late free charge. Why am I made to look like the jerk? I was charged for 24 hours, I should be able to use 24 hours if I want and if I go over what I paid for, then feel free to charge me extra, that I would understand. I don't know if this was a local office issue or if Hertz corporate has a new policy......either way it appears as an additional money maker or sneaky way of taking advantage of the customer. Amazing service, most particularly by Dwayne McKoy. Hertz went out of their way to help us on short notice with a van, provided pick up/return service both ways and was MOST reasonable in price. The place we were staying "has a contract" with another rental agency, that starts with A as in Assholes. When said rental agency couldn't/wouldn't provide a van for the day we needed it, we went and found a rental agency that wanted our business. We've rarely used Hertz here in CA, but this experience may make us think twice in which rental service we do use when needed. read more
