I reserved a van several months in advance at the Boulder, Colorado location for an important trip. To ensure everything was in order, I stopped by the day before my scheduled pickup to confirm that the vehicle would be available. At that time, I was informed that the van would not be available and was told the issue was related to problems with the online booking system, despite my having received a confirmation email. Rather than offering a meaningful solution, I was simply told to "make a Plan B." I was extremely frustrated by the lack of professionalism, accountability, and concern for the significant inconvenience this created. Reserving a vehicle months in advance should provide customers with confidence that their transportation needs will be met, particularly when the reservation is for an important trip. read more

We were traveling the week before Christmas, but we wanted a car, so I reserved a car on the Costco site that was quite expensive ($90/day). We inadvertently arrived early to pick up our car. First the owner upsell me to a more expensive larger vehicle which I declined. Then he pressured me to buy the insurance which I declined. He then quoted a price that was that was $69 above that which I had reserved on the Costco travel site. He said that he was doing that because we were picking up the car early. We said no worries we'll be back in 1/2 hour to which he replied that would be inconvenient for him we should take the car now. He said he would honor the Costco price provided we would bring it back by 20 of the hour instead of the hour that we had officially reserved the car until. He showed the contract and it had an interim price in it not the price on the Costco site. I asked him to verify that the amount I would be charged was the amount on the Costco site. He said "of course," so foolishly I agreed to that contract. The car we received had not been cleaned and had bits of leaves and something yucky dried to the back seat. When we returned the car at 25 minutes before the reserved time, I was handed a bill for the original amount ($69) over. Because I had filled the car an additional charge was removed, and it was a mere $50 over the Costco agreement. After arguing with the attendant, I reluctantly paid (he had my credit card information) the $50 overcharge. I won't be back! read more

Rented a full-size vehicle for a few days. I wasn't too happy after going to my rental car at the airport. First off, it was dirty on the inside. Dust, dirt, food crumbs, and candy wrappers. Anyway, I was struck by the care and compassion of the new owner, Jeff, and want to leave a review (even if it has taken me a while to sit down to it...). At first I was furious to arrive and wait for my service, wondering if I had been duped as previous bad reviews seemed to relate. It did take a half hour from the time I was supposed to pick up the car to when someone finally arrived. Is this bad form? yes. If I'd had a compelling reason to be in a hurry, I might have been furious. However, when I learned that it was due to an act of human kindness, I ameliorated myself to the situation & was compensated very well for my wait. Given the weather that occurred over that weekend and my journey to the SW slope, I was very grateful for the hookups Jeff was able to give me. He might have even saved my life. I will definitely be renting from Jeff again for any of my rental needs, and recommend anyone else to support this new business owner. read more

Jeff the new owner is amazing. I had a slow leak on my front driver side tire. I'm staying in Estes Park and customer service advised I could go to the other budget location in Boulder. I got there at 5:45 to find Avis/budget on 49th closed early. Luckily Jeff stayed late and allowed me to get to his shop after 6pm. Allowed me to refuel and set me up with an upgrade. It could have turned into an nightmare situation as o drove over an hr on a low tire just to have the location that new I was on the way to close early. Rude, sleazy service person who tried to upsell us in every way possible, offered us a "deal" on a higher priced vehicle, then reneg-ed on it, then hassled us upon the return because of some dog hair which we promptly vacuumed out. THEN 8 (EIGHT!) months (!) after the rental, after we'd returned a vehicle that had ZERO issues whatsoever, after the car was received and accepted back with signature by the same sleazy salesperson, we received a totally fraudulent bill for $3,000 for unspecified "damages" to the vehicle. This is a small little rental spot with limited supply. If you're used to those bigger airport type rental locations don't expect any of that here. The guys working were nice, and I left a sweatshirt in a car I returned and they found it for me, which was awesome! I reserved a car here which they didn't have when I arrived, I got a free upgrade which was cool, no extra cost. It seems like they have to deal with a lot of out of towners and I'm surprised that they didn't seem more well equipped to handle high traffic loads/demand. But it got the job done and I was able to get a vehicle and the customer service was professional. read more

After a horrendous situation with a car rental that I will not name (cough cough fox rental cars cough cough) I am blown away by the genuine help this company gave us. We were left high and dry in a state that we had no idea about, with 5 kids and without the cars that were reserved for us. After 8 hours of trying to find a place in Denver to rent not one, but two four wheel drives to accommodate our party of 9, we finally found our knights in shining armor. I rented a car from the Denver airport and after I left found it didn't have windshield wiper fluid. I was in Boulder and was heading up to Estes Park and it was supposed to rain the next day. I stopped by this location and the agent, Human, was very kind and sympathetic with my problem. He filled up the wiper tank and I was quick on my way. read more

Unfortunately they were the only one open on Sunday with cars available. They were 20 minutes late opening and then a long line with no sense of urgency. No sympathy. Rented a car from here in April 2022 for 24-hours and will list the good and bad parts of the experience. The good parts: - Owner at front desk was friendly, easy to deal with. 5 stars for that. - It's a new owner. - It was open at convenient hours. - Car (a Toyota Corolla with 27,000 miles) was clean inside. - Daily rate was low for that date The bad parts: - They do not inspect the car at the time of rental unless you insist on it. When I looked at it, I noticed scrapes and scratches, took pictures, and went in, to make sure i wouldn't be blamed for it. It took some prodding for them to take out the inspection form, and mark the issues on the form and give me a copy. This is standard practice at most car rentals and you shouldn't have to ask. - Car had an issue. There was a loud sound coming from the two rear wheels. Since I wasn't driving and it was only for one day, I tolerated it and did not report the issue until the car was returned. Maybe they don't test drive the cars so might not know. - The credit card charge was $18 higher than the amount on the rental agreement, without explanation. The rental agreement had already factored in taxes and insurance, and gas tank was full, so I have no idea why it's higher and why they did not tell me when the car was returned. Never received a final receipt, which should be standard practice. Many of the issues described above might be because the owner is new and might not have car rental experience. Despite these issues, I would probably rent from them again, but would be careful. read more

This car rental is located in the main lobby of Boulder's Millenium Hotel. It is run by a father and son, and they are wonderful! When I found myself carless last weekend, they were open on a Sunday, which was so helpful. I live completely across town from them, and not on any bus route really, and they paid for most of my cab ride over there which was helpful. Boulder is a small town and their max repay for cab rides is $10; mine was a bit more with tip--but the $$ towards it was much appreciated. I liked the Toyota Camry from Budget very much. So sleek and sporty! Because of various unavoidable circumstances the following day, I was not in a position to return the car until well after the 24 hour deadline, but was not charged for an extra day, which was absolutely generous and amazing! I liked their courteous service, their honesty, the well-maintained and clean car...all of it. I would certainly use this Budget location again. read more

We had rented a Budget car at the Denver airport which after driving to Boulder the maintenance light came on. I tried to call the airport location but was always transferred to their 800 number. The people at the 800 # told me to go into a local location and I could exchange the car. I drove to the Budget location on Baseline in Boulder CO. I walked in and there was a nice woman (Karen) behind the counter. I explained the situation to her - immediately an arrogant man butted in and said "There is nothing wrong with the car - the light means nothing" I responded "I drive a Toyota and I know the light is a warning that something needs to be addressed" "Since we are driving to CA I want a car that does not need to be serviced" He then agreed to give us another car - but it took over 30 minutes - they had to clean the car - this was at 8am in the morning. You would think the cars would be ready to go that early in the am. The man's name was Asem. He then came out to the car with the light issue and said I can reset the light and this car will be fine. He fumbled around for several minutes but was unable to get the light to go off. I would not recommend Budget to anyone. Poor to non existent customer service! read more

He went to pick up the car today (6/30/2018) and was informed that they had cancelled his reservation because they did not have vehicles... considering this reservation was made (and paid for) week ahead, you'd think they could plan a little better. Instead, they are holding on to his money for another 3-5 days and have caused him a huge amount of anquish and disappointment. This is about the Denver airport Budget car rental. We waited 30 mins to get picked up. Finally 3 busses showed up but 2 of them were half full. They need to send 5 empty busses to pick up the whole crowd that were waiting on Saturday 2/22/2020 We reach the Budget office there was already a long line. We waited 45 mins to be served on the counter. Then they did not have the car we reserved. Plus they charged us $100.00 for the ski rack(which only holds 3pairs of skis). I had confirm the reservation for the ski rack the week before at the Denver office. No where was it mention that it was an additional charge. They said they didn't have many cars with ski racks. You're talking the height of ski season for the Rocky Mountains. Plus you have an ugly and messy women's bathroom. Are you cheeper because you don't spend the money on enough workers, busses, ski racks and taped toilets and doors? read more

Never renting a car from here again. The owner didn't care that he rented us a car that he didn't bother to clean or maintenance before our trip. Condoms in the glove box. Food all over the floor and seats. Then 30 minutes into my vacation the oil light came out. No windshield washer fluid. Then I had to fill the tires up with air. Called to complain. They stated they'd give off $50 off due to the used condoms in the glove box but real only credited back $40. Not to mention the day we return the car place, the site got 12 inches of snow and closed. Because I couldn't return the car and complain he charged us an extra day. The owner didn't even apologize that I had to maintenance the rent a car. No offer of reimbursement. Nothing. Shame of a company. read more

Very poor service renting 15 passenger vans for a memorial service. We were supposed to pick up 2 vans at 9 a.m., the agent was outside smoking a cigarrette when we arrived. One of the vans we were offered had a bashed in door that did not slide properly. Another van was covered in dog hair. We had to wait for the dog hair van to be cleaned making us late to the memorial service. My mom needed to use the restroom and almost fell off the broken toilet seat. DON'T RENT FROM BUDGET! We rented a car for eight days during which it rained off and on and we were often parked on unpaved areas, resulting in dirt accumulating in the interior of the car. Upon returning the car, the agent informed my wife that we would be charged a $70 to $200 cleaning charge. I came unglued, and the agent handed me a pamphlet and told me to call customer service. Turned out the pamphlet was for Avis, and neither it nor the pamphlet for Budget actually contains a customer service number. When I finally located Budget's customer, the rep confirmed their position that we were to clean the car before returning it. I rented a car on 7/25 /2018. I originally thought the car had just been cleaned poorly between rentals. After renting the car I went home to get my suitcase and pack for my trip. I opened the door to the second row of seating and it was full of trash. Like other people reviewing this business I was unable to call the individual business. On the rental agreement it says if you have any questions regarding this rental to call 303-444-9054. This local number rolls over to a call center. They informed me that I needed to discuss this with the individual Budget Car Rental place when I returned the car and there was nothing they could do about it. Zero customer service on the other end. A simple "I'm sorry you are having this experience, we certainly strive for a higher standard" would have helped. Upon return of my car I mentioned that the car had not been cleaned and I literally got a blank stare from the employee. He appeared confused. I emailed the owner Asem Swaked and received no reply. I have called on this location on two different occasions, both times on a Sunday, and they helped me out of a jam. The first time I rented a regular car from the airport and we had a unexpected snow so I had to exchange the car for a 4 wheel drive vehicle instead. I called on a Sunday about an half-hour before they were closing and Kyle was extremely helpful. He took all my information from me over the phone to make sure it got in their system before they closed and he held the office open until I get there. Kyle also helped me the 2nd time I was there and I had the same great experience with him. They were busy but he greeted every customer promptly and was also answering the phone. They are one of the few, if not the only, car rental places open on a Sunday in Boulder. read more

The review for Budget at the Millennial Hotel is years out of date. Budget no longer has a rental office at the hotel. Instead, they are located inconveniently in a little hole in the wall office. The last time I tried to rent, I was stuck there for hours because they had no cars. They finally gave me a huge truck that I was not able to exchange for days (and only with yelling.) The only good thing about Budget is that you can return the car directly to the airport. I wish they would open a more convenient location in town and supply it better with cars. read more
