I believe that everyone deserves some grace every now and then, so I decided to give Veterans another shot. 3 days later, one of my vehicles was in the shop. During the nearly 3 weeks it was in this shop, I was kept in regular contact about the status of the vehicle. Steve and the manager were extremely helpful with negotiations between the shop and my insurance to keep it under the $ threshold (well kept 2019 car with VERY low mileage) for being totaled. I cannot overstate how much you should NOT consider CDM for repair jobs. I came in with a dent in a…read morerear quarter panel. The dent was decent in size, but I knew for a fact that it was a PDR job. I knew this because I'd taken the car in to other body shops for estimates and was shopping around for the best deal. CDM sent an ABSURDLY inflated quote of almost $3,500 including blending the read door, blending the aperture panel, overhauling and/or removing unrelated trim and bumper components, etc. Look, I get it. Repair work isn't cheap and it's not unusual for shops to pad estimates if insurance is paying (it wasn't in this case and I was paying out of pocket). I wrote back giving them an opportunity to provide a revised, honest estimate given that I already knew this was a PDR job. They sent back a laughable revision, only decreasing the price by $500 to a whopping $3,000. Here's the kicker. I had my lease financing company do a pre-return inspection and estimate. This is the entity with the biggest motivation for a like-new repair job. Their estimate for ALL excess wear and tear including the dent and some other dings and scratches was $550 total. Bottom line: CDM tried to overcharge me by $3,000. They're predatory and should avoided at all costs.

I was on hold seemingly forever and they confirmed I could exchange the car here (about 40 minutes from the airport). I called this AM and I reached a gentleman that said he could help as long as a car came in when scheduled, but please call to confirm. I tried calling this afternoon, but all calls went to the Avis 800 number, and honestly, they were a little frustrating to deal with. I decided to just drive to the location, and the man I spoke with this morning was there. He remembered me, and was very friendly and helpful, taking care of the exchange in minutes. As expected, his phone was ringing and he couldn't answer so those calls were going back to the toll free number. Hiring is very difficult now, so I understand he was doing everything he could. I'd give 5 stars to the employee for his efforts and 3 stars to Avis -- that's how I landed on a 4.

Besides that opperating the navigation without any instructions proved to be a pain in the ass. Plus the parking break would engage every time you change a shift position ( very agravating ). Noticed a sign when you go in the office that said if you bring the rental back dirty they wil bill you an extra $400 so i made sure it was clean. When i dropped the car off 13days later my final bill was $1435.00 a hell of a lot more than i was initially quoted. By the way just thought i would add the employees were cracking jokes about a customer who was on the phone and got the camry that we requested and they were wanting the suv we were forced to rent at a higher price. Total bullshit I will never rent another car from any budget rental service again im very displeased and disgusted.
