Preston and his helper completed a repair of the outflow pipe and installed a valve; so that we have had no further problems with it. He advised we continue preventative maintenance because we have a lot of trees and the roots get in the drains. When I first called Preston, he was a bit busy due to the holiday season. I had no emergency, so I was able to wait. I could have hired another plumber, but I completely trust Preston to the recommended maintenance work that is required to prevent any future problem. Trust is very important because most quality plumbers with camera equipment charge about the same amount for a house call + time. However, some will take a lot more time to do the same job. He also knows the system in the house, so I waited until he was available. This year we only needed a fairly routine removal of roots blocking the drainage line. Preston and his assistant Valentin were quick and efficient. First diagnosing the location of potential problems and then working hard to remove some large clumps of roots that were blocking the inflow and also the outflow. Shayn is always on-time, fast, and is a second-generation plumber who knows his stuff. He's trade-certified and can pull permits with the City of Vancouver (my job was fully-permitted). If you need an honest and reliable plumber, look no further. The first time I had Shayn do work for me, he said he'd ride his bike over to take a look. It started with a pin hole leak last year which they came the next day and replaced the pipe. They also found another pin hole drip and other areas that were corroding through and recommended I consider replacing all the lines within the next year. I was suspect of the pipes, with the house being 30+ years old but had been putting it off, so it wasn't a surprise. I have just now had them come back and replace almost all copper except a few ends where bathroom tile would need to be broken. They mentioned that the main lines, especially hot water were the worst and that the end of the lines would last longer. Their recommendation was to replace the ends whenever the bathroom is reno'd. I appreciate this trade-off as it saves me a lot of $$$, time and mess to not have to fix the bathrooms right now. I was very happy with the price. As well, I'd like to add that they were here at 8:00 every day and stayed till at least 4pm. And last but not least, they recommended a dry waller who is taking care of the patching.
