The worst experience in a long time, first we ended up with a rental car where the tabs were expired months ago. We got pulled over, didn't get a ticket, but the police said it's better to get it exchanged just in case. Of course, no one is available past 5pm, neither Bellevue nor anyone on the Budget hotline. We drove all the way down to SeaTac, wasted 3h to exchange a car that was clearly their issue. Now they snuck in a charge of $8 for the gas and of course the guys in Bellevue claim that they can't do absolutely nothing about it. BS... if you want you could, you could take on the call and get this sorted, but customer service is non existent at this location. Let's not mention that the original car was dirty, sticky and in super bad shape, this car should have been sorted out a long time ago (maybe when the tabs expired). If you want horrible customer service, a bad car, extra charges, maybe an extra trip to SeaTac... this is the place to go! First rented the only car left at Paine Field yesterday and then realized the next day the AC didn't work when starting our way to Spokane. Yikes! Tim was able to do a car swap for us at the Bellevue location and did so within a few minutes. The only bummer is after we left, we noticed our paperwork was marked "full" (the car was under 1/2 full and the original rental was 2/8 full). Rented online because we needed an extra car because we were down to one car. Staff inside were friendly at pickup and drop off. Requested a Chevy Bolt online but EV6 was what they had which was fine since it was an upgrade in my mind. The only thing tricky was returning it at the 3/4 full charge when my husband drove the car to work then dropped it off after work. Ended up returning it with about 87% charge- more than the 75% that it came to us with. For two days it was $108 which was cheaper than the gas cars and having a charger at home made the choice a no brainer since the total for a gas car was around $130 for two days. The price in general seems high for just two days which is why four stars instead of five. The lot is definitely small so you need to be careful when serving and departing. read more

I recently rented a vehicle from Budget. I did all of my reservation and payment via their website. That was super easy. Upon arrival to the pick up location I was shocked to see it in such disarray. The exterior of the building is not inviting and in fact I was sort of scared to go in. It's an actual modular building that is pretty run down. When you walked up the stairs they freaked and looked like it was an accident waiting to happen. Once inside the carpet was super old and worn and the staff looked like they were freezing since they had jackets on and gloves while helping customers. The staff was super helpful, they were kind and knowledgeable but they didn't seem to enjoy there work environment and I can't blame them. What matters is, they took my card and put a deposit of $150 on the van. No problem, I understand the deposit part. I took the car back late, and they charged me $25 dollars more. DO NOT rent a moving van/truck from this company! We booked online for a pick up time of 5pm. We got there just before 5pm and the door was locked. after knocking they let us in. We reserved a large moving van for a one way out of state move. They didn't have what we reserved and "upgraded" us to a larger truck which goes through more gas. Nice to upgrade in car rentals but when you are moving you pick one that fits your needs. Fast forward to the return of the truck. Reservation was until 5pm drop off in CA. Thinking we want to make sure they are open we return just after 4pm to where they locked up and are about to drive away. they would not accept the return and said we would be charged for another day even though we tried to bring it back in time and they wouldn't help. Rented a car for a month while my car is in the shop. I returned the car and thought that was that. 2 weeks later I received a letter (dated a week after I returned the car) that they were charging me $125 for "damage"-finding animal hair. I didn't have any animals in the car and requested proof that there was some sort of damage. They sent me 2 pictures of floor mats that needed to be vacuumed because they had dirt on them. I asked for escalation because being charged $125 2 weeks after returning a car because they needed to vacuum didn't seem right to me. The response was another customer service agent saying they already responded, so still waiting to hear from a manager. To make this all more infuriating both cars I had rented from Budget clearly were not detailed well. One had an empty bag of nuts and a water bottle under the seat. The other had coffee spilled all over the backseat (I cleaned that up with Clorox wipes, so easily cleaned if anyone had noticed) If you aren't renting out immaculate cars, don't charge $125 because you need to vacuum. read more

I wish I could give negative stars for the HORRIBLE customer service at the Budget Truck Rental on 116th in Bellevue. We moved here from Colorado and had minimal problems with the truck or trailer that we towed with our car on it. All of our problems began when we arrived in Bellevue and had to deal with the truly obnoxious woman running this location. We drove to this location with the intent of unloading our car and leaving the trailer, since we had no place to store the trailer at the city location we were moving to. She was adamant that we could not do that and offered no alternatives. My wife was finally able to convince her to allow this at great inconvenience to her. (I don't understand why it's a problem to return something early!) I tried to return the truck at the end of the day, arriving a couple of minutes before closing, but there was no one there. I parked the truck in the lot, between two other Budget trucks, locked it up, and returned the next morning. When I arrived, she continued her obnoxious behavior, telling me first that I was late (my truck wasn't due for another 2 hours) because I was supposed to return it the previous day. I explained that I was there before 6 to which she refused to believe. She kept pushing me about being late and bitched about how I created a liability for her by leaving the truck there (remember, this is their truck and I'm trying to return it early). She said they don't take overnight returns, even though the sign in the lot explains the process for an overnight return. When I pointed that out, she said it was up to each location to decide, and it's only offered if she gives prior permission (the sign in her lot said nothing about this). I then asked her to review the truck with me (as I sensed she would be making up stuff to charge me with) but she said she would do it later. I asked what the charge would be to top off the tank, as it wasn't quite full, and she said $10/gallon! I took the truck and filled it myself at $3/gallon 1 block away. I then returned the truck to her lot but she was busy with other customer so I left the key and got out of there before she could berate me any more. A few days later I checked my credit card bill and sure enough, there was an extra $171.04 charge from her. I checked with Budget corporate and they told me it was because I returned the truck late. I had returned it at 9:45am and it wasn't due until 10:15. He told me that I had returned it at 12:30pm, so she had stalled on the paperwork for almost 3 hours so she could hit me with another day's charge. The corporate person I talked with called her and told me it was a "mistake" on their part and he would reverse the charge. Because of this obnoxious person in Bellevue, I will NEVER rent from Budget Truck Rental again and encourage everyone who reads this to follow suit. And if you're considering using the Bellevue office, be sure you get her to do your truck/car review in your presence, and check-in your vehicle immediately. Get a receipt so know she didn't hit you with any extra charges. And then I still encourage you to watch your credit card bill just to make sure she didn't go back and add something in there. read more

They willfully and knowingly rent dangerous, non-street legal trucks The WORST rental experience I have ever had. Avoid this location and Budget at all costs. You've been warned. Laura and Larry make the perfect one-two punch to cheat you out of your money and treat you with the utmost of disrespect while doing so. I rented a truck and chose this location because, on the website, it allowed after hours drop off. Well, when I got to the location, Laura insisted that they did not, but would allow it if I purchased the full insurance for the truck (the location gets to keep 100% of the insurances they sell, but only a portion of the rental charge). She also said it would cost $25 to do so. Well I checked with Budget and they said the charge was not to exceed $10. I didn't pay either...Nice try Laura. Not today! I refused the first truck because the check engine light was on. I'm not risking a breakdown and all the hassle that comes with it. Well, the 2nd truck wasn't much better but I was stuck with my movers hired and paid for and waiting for me. The rear left tires were bald and the alignment of the truck was s so bad I had to constantly counter-steer the truck to the left just to keep it going straight down the road. The bad alignment make the truck wobble and shake so bad on the freeway that I couldn't even use the right rear mirror because it was shaking so hard I couldn't see anything in it. I called Budget roadside assistance for help and they created a ticket, sent me a text, and nothing. 2 hours later without anybody contacting me to solve the issue they text me that my ticket had been cancelled. When I returned the truck, Larry tried to cheat me out of money for allegedly not filling the tank all the way. I rented it with 3/4 of a tank and made sure to have slightly more than 3/4 in it on return. He tried to claim it was full when I rented it. Well, I showed him the picture that i took before i drove off the lot. When that didnt work, he claimed I didnt fill it up to 3/4. I again called him on his BS and after showing him the pic I took upon return he said, well ok. Nice try, Larry. Not today! I called Budget with my complaints, but they didn't care. If you have a 1.6 star rating after 5 years of reviews and the parent company does nothing to resolve the issue with this location, then they condone it and own it. On March 5, 2021, my car broke down while my spouse was driving it in Bellevue. We decided to have it towed to a mechanic to get it repaired but we had no idea who long it would take. Because we could not do without a car for an unknown period of time, I decided to rent a car. I selected Budget because it was close to where my car broke down. I tried calling the local office but I was transferred because all of the local representatives were busy. I spoke with a customer service representative and explained my situation. I explained that I wanted to rent the cheapest car possible but did not know how long I would need it. I said that I just wanted to start with two days but I was unsure whether I would need it the whole time. The customer service representative provided me with a price of $321.74 from 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 to 1 p.m. on Monday, March 8. She mentioned that it was prepaid. I said that's fine so long as I could get a refund if I returned the car early. The representative told me in no uncertain terms I could receive a refund if I returned the vehicle early. She did not go over any terms and conditions related to the rental. I gave her my credit card information and received a receipt via e-mail. The e-mail did not contain any terms or conditions related to refunding the rental price if the vehicle is returned early. I picked up the rental at approximately 1:30 p.m. March 5. Before providing my driver's license and credit card I asked if I would receive a refund if I was able to return the car early. He said I would. I asked what I should do if I needed to keep the car longer and told me I would just need to call and make a new reservation. I signed some paperwork - none of which provided a policy explanation of what went along with "prepaid" reservations. I thanked him and went out to the car. After getting my car to the mechanic, I found out they were able to provide a complementary loaner vehicle. I decided to take advantage of that offer and return the rental car to Budget. At approximately 4:30 p.m. on March 5 - just 4 hours after I picked it up - I returned the vehicle to Budget and left the key with the front desk lobby (as instructed by the sign on the door). On March 6 I called Budget to confirm that they received the key and my early return of the car. The representative who answered confirmed that he received the car. I checked on Tuesday, March 9, to determine whether my refund had been processed and noticed that it hadn't. I again attempted to call the local representative but was transferred to a national line. I inquired of the representative who answered why I had not received a refund for the unused time. He told me that because it was prepaid I could not get a refund. I explained that is not what both of the other representatives had told me and that I certainly would not have rented from them if I had known about this policy. The ability to return the vehicle for a refund was instrumental to my decision to do business with Budget. I asked him to escalate my call to someone who could deal with this situation and he said I would have to wait 24 to 48 hours for a call back. On March 10 I received the attached e-mail from the customer service escalation team, which explained that it would not adjust my billing because the policy is to not refund if the vehicle is returned before the original return date. I believe I am entitled to a refund of $259.65, which is the total amount charged minus the per-day rate for the class of vehicle I rented ($62.09). read more

The employee was rude and did not even make an attempt to help me, instead saying I should make sure I call their phone number so THEY don't charge me for a no show. She would not even cancel my reservation. Budget should not overbook trucks for weekends like this - it really screws people over and is the wrong thing to do. I will NEVER rent from them again. To contrast, I went to Uhaul right after and was able to make a reservation for tonight. The employee told me up front there was a chance my truck might not be there, but extended my rental to 24 hours so if it doesn't show up tonight I can rent tomorrow morning. There is nothing good to write about this place. The online reservation system quoted me at 26.05 for a one day rental. When I picked up the truck they quoted me at around 50-60. When I finally got my bill settled, my credit card was charged for a total of 117. The Budget staff forced me to get a car insurance on my rental because they were positive that my car insurance wouldn't cover it. They required 6 wheel truck insurance. The truck I rented had 4 wheels. The truck was very dirty. There was stains and general nastiness with the compartment part of the truck. I returned the truck the same day after hours. I got a call 5 days later from the regional office asking why I hadn't return the truck. The staff still hadn't close my rental. I spent three days calling their office and the regional office and no one ever picked up. I asked the corporate office three times to email me the final bill and they still haven't done so. Upon arrival at Budget, I walked inside the office and there was no one to be found. I stood inside for almost 15 minutes and then decided to go outside to see if anyone was around. A blonde woman was sitting outside in a chair talking on the phone, and then came inside saying, "Oh I didn't hear you walk in". During our reservation, the associate was telling lewd stories and sharing private details that I didn't think were necessarily appropriate to be talking to a customer about. We dropped the truck off at the end of the day's rental with no issues. I then check my bank account two days later and notice that I've been charged an additional $70 on top of what I prepaid. I called this Budget location several times to find out why but nobody answered the phone. I called the national number and found out that I had been charged for 116 miles (we drove 55). It took talking to several representatives and waiting on hold for quite some time to get anything fixed. I would recommend going with Uhaul. Stay far away from Budget. If you turn down their insurance, this place wants you to fill out a form and call your insurance company for the things you don't know. I have an online-only insurance. The only way they communicate is online. So, I ended up paying the $45 insurance. Next, online Budget said there was a night lock box. So I mentioned that. I was told that yes, I could do that, but I'd be charged an extra $25. WHY? Because THEY have had a problem with people siphoning gas at night. OK. So you're making ME pay for YOUR security issue? And if they close at 6pm and I dropped off at 5:59, you STILL HAVE THE SAME ISSUE! Just on Budget's dime! Next, I missed this by one day, but starting June 1, if you leave your car overnight, they charge you $10. GET REAL FOLKS! I can't drop off YOUR truck because of YOUR security issues. AND! The truck should not have been on the road. There were issues with both the front end alignment and transmission. The drivers side door could only be opened from the inside. It clunked down to lower gears, and the steering was really loose. Had we driven the truck on the freeway prior to loading it, we would have returned it. I used Budget recently for a in-town move and it was...fine. First the good - the truck was in good condition and the per mile rate (with a coupon code) was less than half u-haul. The bad - they forgot the furniture pads I ordered, but refunded me when I notified them. The I'm not sure - when I denied buying insurance they had me fill out a form about my insurance which lead to a long call to my insurance company. I'd rather they'd send that info out to collect ahead of time, but I'm guessing many people just look at the form and buy the insurance (which often isn't needed). I simply called with a question asking if I could leave a Budget truck filled with my belongings overnight in between moving out of Portland, OR and moving in to Bellevue, WA. After all, I do have a 48 hour rental window... What she told me was, 'If it's left on my property, it's mine. What OTHER place would let you park overnight?!' They told me on Wednesday they'd pick up my guest on Friday afternoon across the freeway at the Meydenbauer convention center. I called the next day to reconfirm and they said they couldn't do it because they might only have one person at the desk on the busy Friday afternoon and....they weren't obligated to pick up my guest in that case.....So forget it if you need to be guaranteed a pick up service. Though they say they offer the service.....don't count on it and re-confirm, re-confirm, re-confirm. Personally, I'll never use Budget for car rentals again. For truck rentals, yes, but not at this office. BTW, we ended up picking up the car at the Hilton Budget Rent a car, but the computer couldn't handle the Euro to US dollar conversion. Weird. Took a Lyft to pick up my PRE-PAID car at Budget, only to find that Budget had ZERO CARS available.. and zero cars available at nearby Budget locations as well, despite my preexisting, prepaid, confirmed reservation. The kicker? I called twice today to confirm my pick-up time, and no one mentioned being out of cars! So, since I don't have a car for my vacation, and because Budget can't process refunds on-site, I get to dial a 1-800 number to get my money back. But first, I get to pay for another Lyft back to the hotel and also quickly find a different rental car (thank you Enterprise). So, after 15 minutes of bonding time with Budget's suspiciously scripted 1-800 number, I am told I will be refunded my money. But the only compensation Budget can offer for my Lyft rides is a coupon to be used next time I book a rental with them - as if I'd ever use Budget again. ...an update. I, too, thought that should have been the merry end of it. After 12 business days, I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN REFUNDED. I called my new favorite 1-800 number, and after three transfers to different levels of management, I am told that my refund was not actually processed by Budget and that I should now receive my refund "maybe next Monday". Rented what was supposed to be a van for two nights (they gave me an SUV instead, which is far less comfortable for the folks riding in the 3rd row seats). I would have otherwise rented from Hertz (better service). Strike 1. Showed up at 3:30pm instead of 5:00pm to pick up the vehicle. They said I had to wait around until 5:00pm if I wanted to be able to return the car as late as 5:00pm (two days later) and just get charged for two days. Otherwise, I'd have to make it back by 3:30pm or get charged a third day. Some flexibility would have been appreciated, but I understand rules are rules. Still, what a waste of time. I would have appreciated a better attitude from the desk agent. Hers was more of a "hey, deal with it." Strike 2. Took the car home only to find the interior was covered in white pet hair. Clearly someone folded down the 3rd row seat, and 2nd row seat, and let a white long hair dog roll around on the carpet like material that lines the back of the seats. I had to spend time and lint roll the back, but still couldn't get everything. Strike 3. When I returned the vehicle, I complained about the pet hair. One agent was very apologetic and said they'd make it right. The kid who went to the car to check it back in, was gone for about 10 minutes and came back. He said he spoke to his manager on the phone (the woman who apparently rented me out the car) and they could refund me 20 bucks. What a joke. I paid over $10 for the stupid lint brush, so really I was only compensated $10. That's not a meaningful amount of money. Honestly, it's not even about the money. After making a reservation online and providing Budget with my credit card number, I arrived to be told simply that their online system deliberately overbooks and that there are no trucks available today. Terrible. Reserved a truck online in advance and when I arrived they told me they didn't have it. They were completely unapologetic and acted like this happens all the time. I hate this place . I don't understand how they're still in business they suck. read more

Believe the bad reviews, and don't be a fool like me. I thought it can't be that bad, and reserved a 12' box truck because the location was the closest and prices were cheaper. Got to the location. Not only did they not have the truck I reserved, they don't have any trucks. The woman told me they substitute a cargo van, and couldn't have cared less that a van can't carry what a box truck can. Don't repeat my mistake. Don't even think about going to this location. read more
