I've had a bit of a love/hate/love relationship with Buddy's starting from when they opened up their first store at the beginning of the "burger boom" back in 2011/2012 just around the corner from my flat in Shawlands. I've seen them progress through their (substantial) growing pains and become a pretty smooth operator. So you can imagine I was looking forward to Buddy's "following me" after I moved to EK in 2014.
I had hoped they would open a restaurant as I think EK is crying out for a buddy's style restaurant, but I guess this takeaway only place is the next best thing. They don't don't yet have all of the menu items you will find at the Buddy's in Glasgow, apparently they are waiting for a smoker to be delivered, but this has been the case for several months so perhaps we'll never get ribs at EK Buddy's :(
In case you are new to Buddy's, they sell proper American-style burgers, chips, wings, poutine, mac and cheese (although I'm not a great fan of their offering) and that sort of thing at affordable prices.
I've been here a few times and I can definitely say they are now up there with the same quality you will get in the Glasgow branches. The customer service is also pretty good, when I was in there picking a couple of meals up someone was complaining about their food being cold when delivered (itself a bad thing) but from the genuine surprise and very quick remedying of the situation by the staff they really showed commitment to the customer.
Prices are pretty good, especially for the quality and especially if you order online and make the most of their current 15% off deal it's not an expensive treat. read more
