Overall despite the bummer of not riding the hills I wanted to ride, the tow experience was easy and actually eased the stress I had from the flat tire.

First, after we explained that we had gotten a ride to the McCloud Ranger station, Dave picked us up there without question. On the long and tedious journey back up to our car, his conversation and friendly demeanor helped put us at ease. A true professional, he was attentive and efficient with the tow itself. On the drive back, he made sure our car and our stomachs were looked after; he pulled into the parking lot of his favorite milkshake place to confirm that the vehicle hadn't slid sideways on the journey AND he bought us a sweet treat there, knowing the stressful day we had had. He insisted on paying. What a guy! As it had gotten late in the day, the tire shop to which we wanted to take the car wouldn't admit us (and didn't have a spare in a compatible tire anyways). Dave offered to drop us off at a hotel and remained flexible as we continued to explore our options. The grand finale? Just as our hopes were dimming to get the tire fixed that same day in order to attempt our summit, Dave offered to tow us to the nearest AutoZone, where we could pick up a cheap tire plug kit and try to plug the tire ourselves. That worked!! He patiently taught us how to install a tire plug, spending at least two extra hours after the original tow, all with a cheerful and positive attitude. Because of Dave, we were able to make it back to the Clear Creek trailhead late that same night, car camp, and attempt our summit early the next morning as planned. All in all, we were blown away by the customer service at Black Butte towing, and we could not thank Dave enough for the expert help and human kindness he showed us. 6 star review (if it were possible).

While they got banged up, they fared better than their car. What a nightmare: 800 miles from home, car wrecked in the evening two days before Thanksgiving in a relatively rural area you don't know well. Apparently CHP called J&M to tow the vehicle, and they arrived promptly. The officer gave my family a ride back to their hotel, but they soon realized they had left a few things in their car. The next day--the day before Thanksgiving, we called J&M to see if we could retrieve some things from the vehicle, including much-needed medical equipment. They arranged for us to meet them in Arcata, and the time aligned with picking up a rental car in Eureka. The fellow we met was friendly and professional. Brother in law filled out a little paperwork, then we followed the driver to a second yard where the car was secured. He opened the gate and waited for us to retrieve my brother's personal items from the car. No one wants to get their car towed, or find themselves in a situation requiring that service. But our experience with this company was that they are prompt, direct, say what they do and do what they say. In an emergency situation like dealing with a car accident, that's about the best you can ask for.

I waited for 2 hours after the 1 hour eta window, for total waiting time of 5 hours. The next day I tried again, and again, the same thing happened. On the next day, the driver told me to tell him when I was ready, which I did, of which he said it was too late. The next day he said the same, but another tow company towed it because it was on the street in non-working status. I did know this was coming, not the exact day/time, which is why I requested the service on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday......until the city towed it on Thursday between 3:30 - 5:00 pm, the only time during the entire week, I left my house. The cost for that towing is $440 plus $100 city fee. Of which I don't have. Now, the clock is ticking $50/day. Next week, when I'm paid, the bill will be $350 more. Total expected bill - $890, that is my water bill, energy bill, food bill, trash bill... ALL BECAUSE THIS BUSINESS RESPONDED TO THE TOW REQUEST AND DIDN'T SHOW! They shouldn't have taken the request, if they couldn't provide the service. I'M ENRAGED. THEY SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. I would give them a negative point rating if I could. I will be taking them to small claims court.

I had one of the police take my car off of the Jack and got out of there as fast as humanly possible! A few blocks down the road- wouldn't ya know.. he had opened my car's hood, and now it had come unlatched and flew up and broke my windshield.. a $1400 fix on a heated windshield with an eyesight system. SMH- I'm lucky I didn't get really hurt or worse. Please proceed with caution if dealing with this business! He lives and works onsite. I spoke to someone else at the business but they just tried to deny he works there. This is just a bad scene all the way around. Be very careful!!
