We were on our way home to Victoria, BC and had dinner at Buck's. My goodness it was absolutely wonderful. My husband had fish and chips while I have Ceasar salad with prawns. The prawns were so good, I would have loved more and the fish and chips were to best my husband has had. Just was amazed at how friendly Brian was. After reading the reviews, the wife and I stopped by for a quick lunch. This is a neat little diner and it was full of locals on a rainy weekend afternoon. For lunch, I got the Bucks Deluxe burger and a cup of the clam chowder. Both were awesome and I would get it again. The wife got the BLT with fries. I've eaten here a few times over the years and always left feeling like it was just ok and overpriced. I was going to a "FriendsGiving" dinner and decided to take a pie. I love the peanut butter pie from Bucks but decided to get the praline pie this time even though I had never tried it before. Mistake. Pie came in a flimsy pie pan tented with foil. No box, no bag. Got the pie to the dinner removed the foil and the pie looked burned. I tried a slice and it wasn't good at all. I expected more for $37. If I ever go back it will only be for desert and only the peanut butter pie. read more

Somewhat disappointing meal here Friday night. Wanted to come for some of the happy hour food but the happy hour menu wasn't very extensive. Mostly fried bar food. Decided to get the Seafood Louie salad and the wife opted for the fish tacos. She didn't care for the large flour tortillas that the tacos were made with and she thought the tacos had way too much lettuce which completely buried the fish. She did say that once she was able to locate the fish it had pretty good flavor. My salad was just ok too. Not enough crab for the $20 price tag but the crab that was there tasted ok. The salad also included baby shrimp but that didn't make up for the meager amount of crab. Our son ordered the cod and chips off of the happy hour menu and demolished it so I am guessing that he thought it was pretty good. Not sure if we'll be back or not. Love this place. Good service and good food with a good price. It's a very kept restaurant with excellent wait staff. I have never been disappointed when I come here to eat. I have not been here for dinner, just lunch. I usually come on Friday for the Blue Plate special. It's roast beef and oh MAN is it the bomb!! Best ever I've had I think. New Years Eve was a bust. I worked at Buck's for many years with the original owner. New ownership is influencing fabulous but the reality is disappointing. Showed up at 6:30 pm and the Halibut Oscar and tenderloin skewers were already 86'd. That's prime dinner hour. I ordered the lobster ravioli. Without even consulting me they brought lobster with penne and it was something I ate because I was frankly starving after a long day. Didn't finish it and left the rest for the homeless in my takeout box. Wine selections were also limited and my friend chose the duck which she had to request the sauce to accompany that they offered on the menu , lack of attention. In addition our server was far to personal with the desire to "leave for the night" I only give 3 stars because my husband and his friend did enjoy the version of their "surf and turf". Wow, I am going to be here often now that I've discovered this place. Came in Sunday and was pleased with the brunch menu options. Some breakfast, some regular menu. Cute place with moose on the wall, bank vault doors, and I hear the men's bathroom is something to see. of course the ladies bathroom has a plant growing out of the plumbing, so it wasn't a waste of time to check out either. Super friendly staff and a variety of table sizes. Totally loved that the chairs didn't touch the next table's chairs when both are seated. Thank you! We enjoyed the salmon cakes(potatoes, fruit, eggs, toast), Fried Cod & chips, and 2 different burgers. Everything we tasted was yummy. The vanilla caramel cake is amazing. And we even took home a Peanut Butter pie for later. A whole pie! It was fantastic. OMG the mash potatoes are to die for, so good. Second time back in three months and I can't wait to come back again. Husband had the rib eye cooked perfectly and I had the chicken parmigiana. The food is always good and we have dined here often in the past. Last time we went we ordered a special. I was surprised when the bill came as the special turned out not to be in the same pricing scale as other like items. We should have asked the price and made a poor assumption but the experience has turned us away for now. A neighborhood cafe, probably many regulars that come for weekly specials. Great bar, nice wine list, fast friendly service and very good food. Clearly a kitchen that takes pride in their craft. Friends had hamburgers, which looked like a burger plate you might find anywhere- but our friends said they were amazed at how good the burgers were. My better half's fish and chips (thick and meaty Halibut) were really good, and we eat fish and chips often at various spots. I had the Osso Bucco, a nice portion with mashed and a fresh vegetable alongside. Cooked nicely, a brown gravy that was a bit gelatinous but real tasty. We all agreed we would return. read more

Many of them are wonderful but we're very fond of Stacey, she literally feels like she could be our family. However, we see her treat all her guests that way, which we love! we had Chiken wrapped in prosciutto alfredo. which was delicious. the fresh sprig of basil on top made it pop. super good. we had the homemade cheesecake with berries for dessert and it was to die for. Everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing . just found out the ducks hanging on the wall and fish pictures are from my cousin who worked there for the former owners. This was our place to go after work on paydays or just whenever. Had a number of birthday dinners and fun there. Good service, excellent food and drinks and atmosphere is classic ... wooden bar and interior, couple of bay window tables. My favs are the peanut butter pie, fish tacos, beet salad and coconut prawns. Miss going there but have had great takeout when I was back in Everett. Can't wait to get back there again. read more
