I gave Buckeye Pho a try based off of a friend's recommendation and reviews on Yelp. This place is very clean and there is plenty of ventilation. The staff were very friendly and checked in with us multiple times while we were present. They all wore masks which helped make us feel at ease. The place is not very large but the tables are spaced adequately to allow for distancing. I had the pho ga (Vietnamese chicken noodle soup) and my wife had the banh mi with chicken. My soup bowl was huge and was filled with very tasty broth, chicken, noodles and all of the ingredients which come with pho. A friend of mine joined us and also had the pho ga. They provide a dish with bean sprouts, jalapeno slices, basil and cilantro for the pho. My friend asked for an extra plate so we didn't have to split it. They provided the extra dish without charging us. The broth had a complex and very flavorful taste which worked well with the noodles and the hot jalapenos. You need to have good jalapenos with the soup! I managed to finish my bowl and noticed someone at a different table ordered the jumbo size. It looked big enough to feed two people! Having tried pho all around the country and world, I was happy to stumble across buckeye pho during my time in Columbus. It's a mid sized fast paced restaurant that offers good service and good pho. I personally was pretty impressed by the pho here because of the flavorful broth, large portion size, and carefully curated assortment of meat. The one point that I personally felt detracted slightly from the experience was that h the broth has a little bit more of a sour tanginess to it. While not bad, not my personal preference for pho. Sometimes you just need pho, and yesterday was one of those days. Unfortunately our typical spot for pho (Huong's) was closed by them time I got off work, but I just knew I wouldn't be satisfied until I had my pho craving satisfied. I checked Yelp for some spots and settled on Buckeye Pho. I ordered the large pho tai (rare steak) and was not disappointed. The carry out packaging is nice; all the noodles, meat, aromatics, and sauce in one container and then a separate container with the broth. I could not get over how delicious the broth smelled while I was assembling my bowl, and it tasted even better. I felt like the portion of meat and noodles was perfect and I was given a good amount of aromatics. I prefer my pho to be on the spicier side so next time I'll ask for additional sauce and jalapeños. Not terrible, but not my first choice. I just lived by here so it was convenient. The waiters/waitresses were very kind and made sure they took our order right away and got our food out fast! Their pho is definitely not my favorite. It always smells good and when I eat it it's just a disappointment. There's a slight taste of fish sauce in my experience and that definitely is not supposed to be there. I have also tried the wonton soup with egg noodles. So there are supposed to be pieces of minced pork in the bowl but it was ALL hard that I had to spit most of it out. I'm not sure what happened there. I like shrimp, but they put shrimp in the wontons and it ruined it because it had that fishy taste. The vermicelli with egg rolls and grilled pork is also ok. The egg rolls could use a little more flavor. The grilled pork is sometimes dry or there are super fatty parts that I cannot get myself to swallow because the whole piece is pure fat. I've been a fan of Buckeye Pho for some time, and have enjoyed the friendly service and good food. Today we ordered a number of pho dishes as well as a pork roll. The pho was pretty average, but I was shocked to find undercooked pork in the rolls we ordered. While an occasional visit can be inconsistent and still be ok, food safety issues are very concerning and not acceptable. It is safe to say I won't return. read more

Last month, we stopped in to Buckeye Pho on Bethel Road. Whether you want carryout (which we have tried and is great) or if you want to try it for the first time and get some advice from the team in the restaurant. We stopped in and grabbed a table, with Keilan helping us. They have a good menu with many options. For the regulars, their P3 Pho w rare steak is so tasty. Still the best selection of fresh rolls in town, but the quality sadly has disappeared just like it does to many popular eateries after several years. Prices go up, portion sizes dip, quality suffers and service becomes banal and disinterested. And what's with the nickel and diming for "a little more of this or that" when everything on the menu seems to have shrunk? Like the fresh veggies/herbs side plate with pho - hardly get anything nowadays. Kept my review at 3 stars, but lack of step-up when the pandemic hit to at least add curbside pickup and contactless payment or even online ordering(!?) should really remove two of those stars. Dined in here for the first time after lots of takeout orders. Ordered the signature pho, grilled pork banh mi, and shrimp and pork fresh rolls. All of the food was delicious. The pho had a great flavor and was full of goodies, the banh mi was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, and the fresh rolls were absolutely fresh and tasty with the peanut sauce. Hi, my name is Jayme and I am a pho addict. No, seriously! The weather yesterday was crazy and it was finally chilly enough for my pho craving to set in. I called around to a few different places to ensure they had vegetarian broth and this place quickly confirmed (yes, Yelp said they had it but I gotta make sure). My friend and I trekked over there and immediately grabbed a table, despite the fact that the place was almost full. We obviously weren't the only pho addicts whose craving set in with the nippy weather. The waiter was very attentive and took our order right away. We each got a bowl of pho and we split the veggie spring rolls. Everything came out so quickly! Either that or I was distracted by the Cavs game being on. Pretty sure it was quick as hell tho. The spring rolls were delicious and obviously fresh af. I LOVE peanut sauce and the flavor with theirs was on point, it was just a little runny. I prefer when it's thicker and really sticks to the roll instead of just running off. Now, the veggie pho wasn't terrible but it definitely wasn't my favorite. The broth could have used more flavor, it sorta fell a little flat. I added some hot sauce and what not to give it some oomph but it was weird that I even needed to add salt. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the tofu was great. I'd say my main complaint was that the veggies were cut up so small that I had to spoon them out instead of simply using my chopsticks. I even questioned as to whether or not they were fresh because they didn't look it. I like it better when I can actually pick up the piece of carrot or celery or bok choy. My friend on the other hand, he ate the entire bowl of his and said it was fantastic. I'm realistic and I know that veggie broth can be more difficult. I have been here a handful of times and always enjoy it. Today was no exception for the "to-go" experience. Good flavor, well packaged. I have never ordered pho to go before, so I was a little surprised the protein, in this case rare beef, was raw in the Styrofoam container. It did make it kind of cool to "cook your own" in the hot broth. The raw meat wasn't touching the sprouts, but that did make me a little nervous. Everything had good portions. Actually too much if I would have used all the noodles. Ordering was a OK (no online just phone in), and I think they only have one line.....so keep calling if busy. Great place to enjoy Vietnamese pho and banh mi and also watch sports with all the big screens here. I've been here twice and most recently was here over the holidays. I've tried the salad rolls, bun noodle salad, (vegetarian) pho noodle soup and banh mi. Even though I'm a huge noodle person, I was shocked at how much I liked the banh mi! The bread was super fresh, perfectly warmed and crispy/chewy and the roasted pork was delicious! I loved the bun noodle salad but wasn't nuts about the vegetarian pho which had too many onions in it. I guess you really should get the standard beef pho here or get the bun or sandwiches instead. This is my favorite restaurant in town and no matter how hot it is outside I will happily scarf down a big hot bowl of pho. I get the rare steak, sometimes the well done steak, both are really delicious. The broth is out of this world good. They give a nice serving of noodles and meat and plenty of add ons ( bean sprouts, limes, coriander, basil, jalapeños). We always start with the shrimp and pork summer rolls and I could honesty drink the peanut sauce it's so good! My fiancé always gets the special pho (meatballs, well done steak, rare steak, tendon and tripe). The cold cut Banh Mi is very good as well, the bread is always fresh. The broth is delicious and I always ask for extra jalapeños and chili oil because I love spicy food. I usually get meatballs and tripe in my pho. The noodles and meat felt kind of never-ending, and while I ate everything, I have to confess I could not finish the broth because it was so much food. I went during fairly busy hours, and the service was still pretty fast. Staff are very friendly, and there's plenty of seating inside and at the bar. My wife and I went here while on a weekend vacation. The server was very nice, attentive, but also gave us time to view the menu. This was our first time eating Vietnamese, so we had a couple questions about some of the choices. The server grabbed a photo album and showed us the dishes, which was really helpful! We ordered the shrimp and pork summer rolls, a beef bahn mi, and a large bowl of chicken pho. The shrimp roll was rather bland, but tasted pretty good with the peanut sauce. The ban mi was delicious. So good. And the pho had done really good flavor. Our only complaint about the pho was the chicken was rather plain. Otherwise or was very good.
