There's a big parking lot. Inside, it's open and airy with high ceilings and plenty of seating. There's even a dedicated DoorDash pickup window, which tells you they mean business. Service? Lightning fast. My order was ready before they said it would be, and everyone I interacted with was genuinely friendly. Now, let's talk food, because WOW. I got the regular chicken shawarma with extra garlic sauce (do not skip this, it's the secret handshake). This thing was absolutely loaded. Juicy, charred chicken packed into a pita with lettuce and tomato, wrapped so generously they double wrap it to contain the glorious mess. It's a two-hand situation, no question. Messy in the best way possible. The curly fries? Crunchy perfection. Slightly reminiscent of Arby's, but with their own flavorful twist. And the portion... borderline absurd. Enough fries to feed a small group. All of this came out to around $12, which feels like you got away with something. I ordered online, I used to be in a point system but that has not worked in a while - I informed on-line and in person - nothing. Only said - system goes down! Came here with two old high school friends when visiting my sister who lives right around the block from here. It's an interesting place and I'm not sure either of the other two guys had been to this one. I had a chicken shawarma sandwich that was really tasty. I was surprised they didn't have Vernors or Faygo as a always want some when visiting in Detroit, but all good. The restaurant is in an outdoor mall near a gas station and other stores and restaurants in the strip mall. My sister said she and her husband usually do takeout but do eat their food and recommended it when I told her where we were meeting. read more

We stopped here for dinner before a show at the Fisher because I knew it would be quicker than typical sit-down service. I'm so glad we did! The ambiance was fun and friendly. As someone who easily gets anxiety ordering at new places, I felt perfectly at ease here. I love that they offered Detroit sodas but also had Coke products. (I was a big fan of the Detroit root beer and lemonade.) Ordering was easy. Staff were polite when bringing the food to the table. I sat in a booth and wish I had snapped a picture but they're high-top booths and I looooove that they have a bar for your feet/a footrest. Sometimes my body doesn't like my feet dangling for too long but this was perfect and I was comfortable for the entire meal. I ordered "shoestring fries" and they looked completely normal size, not skinny. They were delicious nonetheless! I tried the curly fries and they were also yummy! Shawarma sandwiches were pretty messy. Don't unwrap the whole thing from the foil or else the goods will drop out of the bottom of the pita. I also wish I had snagged a fork before I sat down. Bucharest is a longtime favorite of mine. I enjoy their Chicken Shawarma with extra tomato & garlic sauce. I also add feta cheese to mine. So simple and so tasty - warm cabbage tossed in house dressing with feta and grilled chicken. I could eat this everyday. I also really like their sticks - like longer, neater versions of their shawarma pitas. A little easier to eat and very decently priced; perfect if you're more on the go. I've had the chicken shawarmas before, and they are great, but I really liked the beef one I tried last night. It had a nice char on it, and really great flavor. I'd order both the chicken or the beef again. The hummus and pita were good, not great. The highlight of the meal was the grape leaves, which were the best I ever had. The restaurant was pretty busy, but we were able to find a big table for our group of six while we waited for our food. It seems that the menu at this Bucharest Grill is the same as the other locations in the area, with shawarma, salads, and appetizers. I've been to other locations and have always enjoyed the shawarma. Half of our group's order came out quickly, but the other half took quite awhile. They have a bar so a couple people in our group ordered a beer while they waited. There are lots of TVs in the bar so I think it would be a fun spot to watch a game. We saw a lot of football fans in there and even ran into some friends, which was fun. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon on a recent trip, and I tried the Bucharest shawarma box. Different mix of flavors from what I think of with a gyro, stronger garlic and pickle profile than I expected. It was a very good value for the amount of food. The one thing that was troublesome, people who were coming in, placing to go orders at the register, they were getting their food much faster than the people who were going to eat in the restaurant. Got the chicken shawarma stick and curly fries with side of hummus, first off the shawarma stick is huge and packed with flavor it's $2 less than a regular shawarma and a great deal for $6 , next the curly fries you get a huge portion of delicious tastiness for I believe it was $4.95 and the side of hummus was only $.95 all in all it was under $20 to eat there which is almost unheard of anywhere these days . Service was fast for a busy night but after the tiger game and great atmosphere to just chill and talk with friends everyone seemed to enjoy it there. We liked how easy it was for everyone to order food and drinks on their own at the bar which made it easy and pretty fast.
