I use to love going here, But when I went the other day, it was nothing like it use to be. My hair turned out great, BUT the atmosphere was just awkward and stressful. I've witnessed how the manager treats her employees. It was so degrading and disrespectful and that's a big NO NO for me. Apparently she is not aware, that her job is to motivate the girls, so they'll do a good job and actually like coming to work. Worst hair cut of my life...not exaggerating.I had Stephanie...save yourself and do not go to her. I went in with long hair and said that I wanted it cut to my collar bone (about 2 1/2 inches). I said that I wanted enough there to still be able to pull my hair back in a pony tail. I also said that I wanted "light" layers. I told her that the last place I got my hair cut gave my choppy layers and I didn't like them. She did a good job on the shampoo and then when we were back in the chair she repeated back what we were doing (hair to collar bone, light layers). She even put her hand on my collar bone when repeating back what we were doing. She started cutting in the back so I couldn't see what she was doing. When I caught a glimpse of a piece in the back I said it was too short. She said she was going to angle it in front so I could still pull in back in a pony. My thought was this was not what I asked for but the back had already been cut. At first it looked like the pieced in front were going to be about collar bone length...the out of nowhere she started chopping away. I ended up with a chin length bob...I was horrified. She kept cutting horrible layers...the shortest pieces are past my ear. I asked to to just stop cutting that I didn't want it any shorter and she said that I had fine hair, but a lot of it and she was just taking off weight. I have never had this experience ever with any other salon. I hate what she did and this isn't something that can be fixed, I didn't want her to touch my hair anymore. At the end she said "she you can still pull it up in a little nubby pony tail...well maybe you'll have to use some bobby pins for the front pieces". Nope I can't pull it in any pony tail...I hate my hair and I hate Stephanie!!!!! After a few days of being extremely upset I contacted the salon to complain about the cut. Stephanie was on Vacation and the manager was April was"not in" that day and no one could help me right then. Horrible costumer service!!! read more

Nice clean salon with friendly staff. I highly suggest Chiara. In addition to being very kind and welcoming, she really listens to what you ask for. She's also a perfectionist taking the time to be sure everything comes out prefect and to your liking. She gave me a fantastic cut and blowout/flat iron. I left feeling fabulous. I have very thick and curly hair (I'm half black/ half Italian) I've had trouble finding stylists in the area who can handle it, she far exceeded my hopes! She also gave great advice on how to keep my hair healthy between visits etc, very knowledgeable. Also, the products that the salon uses are wonderful, I'll definitely keep coming back! read more

I had the best experience with Bubbles and Jenna today. I called last minute to get in at the recommendation of a neighbor. I had a real problem with thinning hair from recent weight loss and was embarrassed by it. Jenna looked at several pictures and combined them into one including some of her own style that I loved. She tailored the cut to my face shape and completely covered the thinning spots. She even took the time to teach me how to style it at the end to get the most volume. I will never go to anyone else but her. It's so hard to find a reasonably priced salon in Fairfax. There's had all the expensive salon feel for a great price. Even their color is well priced, although I didn't do color today. She didn't try to oversell me on product or other services or yell at me because I usually dye my own hair. Although I would definitely recommend Jenna to anyone because she is freaking amazing, I will say all the other cuts I saw coming out of their looked stellar too. read more

So disappointed. Wanted to have a good experience here, gave it two tries and both weren't good. My first cut was with Aimee, and she literally took 10 minutes cutting my hair. While it was shorter, I ended up with no style... at all. When I left, they have you set up your next appt for a couple of months out, which I did. I figured I give her one more try, maybe be more explicit in what I was looking for. A few days before my next appt I get a call saying Aimee won't be in for the appt. I get booked with another stylist, Irena for the 11a slot. When I show up at 11, Irena isnt there and the receptionist says they have no appt for me. I ask how is that possible when they just called me a few days ago to change it. There was not much of an apology and no offer to remedy the situation, so I walked out. Bummer! I have been coming to Bubbles in Fairfax Corners for 3 years now and have going to Sarah for the past 3 years. She is great, she cuts exactly how much I ask. I try to get regular trims every 3 - 4 months, and she does just what I request, a trim but occasionally when I go too long (6 months or more) without a trim, I end up getting an actual haircut of an inch or more cut off but she still only cuts enough to get rid of the damage as she knows I am really trying to grow my hair out longer. I love coming here to get my hair done, Sarah is a great stylist. read more

I have very very curly hair and have had plenty of horrific hair cuts. So after moving to Fairfax I began the semi-terrifying task of finding a new stylist. Bubbles in Fairfax Corner was recommended to me and when I called I was set up for an appointment with Rocio. She did a FANTASTIC job. She knows how to layer and shape curly hair so you don't have choppy levels or an odd silhouette. This is by far the best hair cut I've ever had and her flat iron job after the cut was amazing. I just got a haircut from Jenna, and it's one of the best I've ever gotten. Everyone is so sweet and "bubbly!" there. Jenna actually listened to what I wanted and I left with a truly wonderful haircut. I have long, fine hair and she used products specifically for my hair type. She took off exactly how much I wanted and even asked specific questions (for example: do I have any cowlicks or anything that she should know about). I went to Bubbles in tears and desperation on a Sunday after my regular Aveda salon had horribly botched a hair coloring job on Saturday. My regular salon was closed on Sunday and I was starting a new job that Monday. They were busy at Bubbles, but were so nice, and said that if I came back in the late afternoon they would stay late and try to fix it as best they could. Jenna was my stylist, and she was very sweet, knew exactly what she was doing, reviewed my options, and made my hair look a thousand times better. Great customer service, great repair job. I will not go back to original salon. Lesson learned - more expensive, not necessarily better! read more

2 weeks ago, I went to have my hair cut and have some color put in before a wedding I was goibg to the following week. Now, before I'd this appointment I've had great to good experiences at this location but after this last appointment with Esther, I will never, NEVER, go back after the horrible cut, dye job, or horrendous treatment I received. NEVER did the words, 'make me a redhead' or 'make me look like an early 2000s rocker' ever leave my mouth! I DID say 'i want to keep my base color which is my natural color (brown)' , 'I don't want all over color' (because I wanted to keep my natural brown color), 'It's fall so maybe we can add some caramel color' which initially I wanted to do a really fun dark pink balayge (which yet again, would keep my base color brown!) But she wouldn't work with me on and talked me out of even though I had thought about it for weeks! She suggested I add some copper to my hair which I thought would be fallish and look nice with the caramel and blonde balayge. In my head I was tginking, it'll be my base color brown with some copper/caramel balayge melting into blonde tips (which i specially said, blonde at the tips). Also, everytime I said caramel, she 'corrected' me by saying copper, it was suppose to be both! But No, NO, I got red color allover with bright blonde chunky streaks that started halfway through my hair. On top of that, I had hot roots with made me look like an edgy skunk. As I had TEARS in my eyes asking her what she did, she had the audacity to yell and scold me that I hadn't been specific and that she did good work. She would have let me leave with HOT ROOTS if I hadn't pitched a fit. What 'stylist' doesn't know how to recognize/fix hot roots?! If your client is in tears over what you did, you obviously really screwed up! Luckily a kind co-worker came over and offered to help fix it once I told Esther that I would rather buy a box of brown hairdye and do it myself then be seen with her dye job. To add the last slap in the face to me horrendous experience, ESTHER told me that she doesn't work on Sundays but that her co-worker who fixed my hair only works on sundays and gave me the co-workers card. Yeah girl, I get it, you never want me to book you again. Trust that after this, I will never step foot in Bubbles ever again. I don't care about having my money back but when your company backs up this kind of blatant mistreatment of clients and the butchering of someone's hair, it doesn't say much about your ethics as a company. ESTHER should be fired for her gross misconduct tolds me and for her butchering of my hair. read more

Really disappointed. Scheduled an appointment based on a referral. We took the family to Fairfax Corner. I sit for 20 minutes waiting for a stylist to open up and nobody tells me how much longer I will wait or that they are sorry for the delay. Meanwhile I see two stylists walk out the door going to buy coffees. I ask the reception desk how much longer and they come back and say two minutes. Ten minutes later I leave. I have a two year old and a six month old and my time on the weekends is too valuable to be wasted. read more

I originally booked an appt online for my first time at Bubbles. Soon got called that online booking doesn't schedule enough time so I had to change my start time. The day of the appt the stylist called in sick. I was able to get an appt later that day with another stylist. I was set up with Seung. She was great! I am extremely picky and sensitive about my hair, just as many other women, and Amber completely surpassed my expectations! I'm always apprehensive to get my hair cut since 'more is better' has always been the motto for my previous stylists (who are also great stylists) when getting a trim. Amber did an in depth consultation to comprehensively understand my hair regimen and took the time to offer products that would be beneficial to my hair type and not just what she liked or preferred for her hair. The end result was just what I came in for.. great cut with an obviously experienced hair stylist who appreciates a customers wants, with a beautiful blowout! I will not come back here. I was a new customer and had my hair done by Lynn. She was unfriendly and rude. I tried to tell her what I wanted but insisted multiple times to do something else. Then she goes to shampoo my hair and tells me the price is going to be more expensive then want I was originally told. It would've been less if she did what I wanted her to do in the first place. Needless to say, I DO NOT recommend Lynn. Other stylist might be okay but I won't be taking another chance with that salon. read more

I've never had a problem with a stylist in the past, but I must warn you do not see Jenny. I went in not sure about what I wanted but I had pictures and knew I wanted and ombré look. I have been coloring my hair vibrant red for about two years. We decided it would be easiest for me (because I had a recital and wedding to go to that weekend) to just darken the top and fade it down to the more vibrant red I already had on the bottom. You have an idea of how that should look in your head right? Then, without even asking me or showing me the color she just started coloring my roots, and I mean just my roots. I was optimistic and sat there for the 30 minutes trying to have faith in the professional that was recommended to me by the salon. The time comes to wash my hair and I am very nervous, I thought we were going to blend the color down more to get that ombré style. As she's styling my hair I am holding back tears as I see that I am going to have to pay $85 (before tip) for this girl to dye my roots and ugly dark brown color, making my hair worse than when I had walked in that day. The color was not blended into the color I had at all. You can see she even MISSED A SECTION OF MY ROOTS. I was embarrassed and felt uncomfortable saying something to them because I did not have time to stay there and fix it. I called later that day and they said they could have Jenny try to do something different but I honestly never want to see her again. She had the worst attitude, she did not care at all about what she was doing. She got color all over my forehead and ears. She didn't seem to have a clue what to do either. She had to ask another stylist for help while doing the most simple (and ugly) root dying job. I love the salon, never had a bad stylist before, but STAY AWAY from Jenny. read more

My haircut was fine--there was nothing technically wrong with it but I felt like my stylist really sped through it. My real problem was with the front desk team; I had trouble getting anyone on the phone, I was never given the name of my stylist when I made the appointment and was hung up on before getting a chance to ask, there was no confirmation call (and having gone for several years to another Bubbles, I know that's standard). Wouldn't send my worst enemy here after the service I received May 9th. I've been coming to this bubbles location on and off since high school (6 years ago) for routine color/ highlights. I came in with pictures of a rose gold vivid color I wanted done to my hair and was told by Suki and a fellow stylist they could "definitely do it". Three hours later I walked out with more of an icy pink glaze that washed out in five days or less. When I called back with concerns, I was told this was expected and given no apologies. They barely spent more than a minute on the phone with me. I've since seen a master stylist at Frizzles Salon in Springfield who has five years experience with vivid (ie. lavender, clue, green, etc) haircolor. She explained that they should never have lifted my hair they way they did, they compromised the vivid dye by shampooing and using hot water for a 10-15 minute wash which basically stripped all pigment, and I was charged for a haircut that didn't even cure my minor dead ends. In short, don't waste your time coming to this salon unless you can settle for outdated styling techniques that should've been left in the early to mid 2000s. read more

I had been looking for a new stylist as mine recently stopped cutting hair. My coworker also holds her cosmetology license and referred me to Bubbles for the dark to light ombre style that I was looking for. She said that "Bubbles is a high end salon. You will love them" as she herself trained with many Bubbles corporate reps. I had several pictures to depict what I was looking for. My hair was a natural 7 shade brown and I was looking for a very light/COOL blonde color. I was immediately told by my stylist, Jenny P that she could not get my hair to the color I wanted, but could get me "very close." After all was said and done, my hair looked NOTHING like the pictures I showed at the beginning. Instead it was a warm blonde that had orange and red shades in it. (My picture portrayed a platinum blonde color). While I was willing to not go to that platinum level, my hair looked nothing like what I wanted. Needless to say, I called to complain, with my cosmetology license friend on the phone. The salon leader was disrespectful and thought it was a good idea for me to go back to Jenny P. If she wasn't willing the first time to do what I wanted, why would she want to now? And isn't that awkward for the client, AND the stylist? Eventually I had the district leader contact me about my experience. Wow. What a transformation. She could not have been more respectful and helpful to me. She transferred my service to another local Bubbles and set me up with the best colorist there to re-do my hair to my liking. While my hair still isn't the lightness I showed in the picture, it is MUCH better than what was done here. And guess what....my hair isn't falling out. She showed me a blonde swatch of what she could give me, and she matched that. On another note, this salon is tiny. It's very crammed into the space it is given. I only came here because it had good Yelp reviews. Yesterday I went in with black hair that had been dyed, and my roots were growing in (which are blonde.) I wanted a more natural brown/blonde balayage look and I showed them a picture. They said that was impossible to do today but they could color correct and leave it all one brown color and I could come a few weeks later for the blonde. I agreed, because I knew there was nothing I go do myself that would get it all one color. They bleach bathed my hair. The roots turned bleach blonde and the rest was multi colored orange and black. It looked hideous. Then they put brown dye on top of it. A blah brown color. I was fine with it at first because in the salon it looked brown but as soon as I got in my car I realized it was EXTREMELY red. Like natural red head red. I paid close to $300 to have all of that done and I got something entirely different than what I wanted. I will never come back. No one is there is very friendly either. Super pretentious place especially considering they can't even execute what they say they will. I get that my hair was hard to fix but they do hair for a living and charge an arm and a leg for it, bright red hair shouldn't have been what I left with. I could've done that with a box. read more

This place deserves "0" stars from me. Not only did the stylist who I had booked a year in advance, and already paid for a hair trial quit, and they never notified me, but I had to pay for a new hair trial with a new stylist, and it was terrible. Then, on my wedding day, they double-booked my 4 bridesmaids' appointments and only provided 25 minutes of time for 4 girls to get their hair styled for a wedding. Needless to say, their hair looked terrible. I called them back to notify the salon I wouldn't be paying for their services due to their complete disregard for my year-in-advance appointments and terrible hair styling. They then refused to let one of my bridesmaids leave, blocked the door, and pulled part of her hair out of her head before she was able to run out. Worst styling, customer service, and professionalism ever. I have never written a Yelp review or any other sort, but this place is terrible, and I don't want any one else to have an important day almost ruined like they did for me. Stay away! read more

Worst salon haircut I've ever had! I called ahead to schedule an appointment on Sunday. I stated on the phone I was only interested in a simple, basic cut. I asked how much and she stated $30 for a shampoo and cut, $35 for shampoo, cut, and blowout. When I arrived, I again stated I only wanted the shampoo and cut and had the price verified again at $30. I was randomly assigned a stylist, which has never been a problem before. I have the most basic hair in the world! It doesn't get any thinner or straighter than my hair!! Once the stylist finishes, she walks me over to the receptionist and says $35. I ask the receptionist why is it now $35?!? Did you not say that a shampoo and cut was $30?? Her reply was she was a "senior stylist" (I don't even remember her name because I threw her business card in the trash knowing I would never be back). Well if I tell you ahead of time I'm only looking for simple what makes you think I'm willing to pay and extra $5 for someone who has been doing this longer?! I would have gladly waited until someone "not senior" was available. I have an issue with not being told her charges were higher BEFORE she cut my hair!!! I angrily paid the charge and left never to return again! When I get home and my hair dries, I notice for a "senior stylist" she did a HORRIBLE job! The end of my hair was uneven in so many places that I had to wet my hair and take my own scissors to even it out! I will NEVER, EVER, EVER be returning to this salon and I would be very hesitant to try any other Bubbles salon in the area.
