I'm writing this review as a former long-term subscriber to provide some constructive feedback. First, the positives: the staff is very good--always friendly and professional. The online booking system is also very convenient. However, I consistently experienced issues with scheduling that ultimately led me to cancel my subscription. My appointments frequently started late (sometimes by over 20 minutes), and I had repeated instances of my scheduled appointments being cancelled or needing to be moved. This happened again today, during my "let's give this another shot" visit. These scheduling problems seemed to create a domino effect. Because appointments were booked so tightly, the staff often appeared rushed, which understandably impacted the quality and consistency of the service. On several occasions, I also paid for a premium service but only received the 'classic' due to time constraints or lack of attentiveness. This business has a lot of potential, but it feels like the operational side is holding it back. Addressing the root cause--the back-to-back scheduling--would likely solve the downstream issues of lateness, rushed services, and possibly service discrepancies. I hope this feedback is taken into consideration. read more

I was a client of Ozzy's at a previous workplace and I have to say the guy is a magician. Hands down one of the best barbers I've seen in mine 30+ years of barber shops in NoVA. I've been seeing him for over a year now and every interaction has been fantastic. He's really great at giving you exactly what you desire and provides valuable feedback on chosen styles. Ozzy is also very good at handling South Asian hair which is a common problem at most typical barbershops. I got a premium cut and a premium beard grooming at this location. The vibe is super chill here, definitely a classy barbershop where you can relax properly. Give Ozzy a try at this location and I promise you'll be hooked. read more

Had a good experience here. I called and they were able to fit me in. I was not familiar with their franchise before (was visiting from out of state) but I was impressed. The decor is nice and I can see how it easily caters to a male population. Was offered a drink when I came in. Seemed like they have a basic selection of alcohol. They have TV's you can watch and even nice headphones. It's a subscription model service. Seems like a good deal when I saw the prices. As I was out of state and not a member, I think I paid a little more than if I was a member. If I lived in the area, I'd probably be a member because I liked the atmosphere and the service. They do tend to spam you a bit tho, texts and emails etc. read more

December 2024 - Haircut for 13yr - Blowout/Low taper Writing this review way later I don't know why I waited so much The vibe and aesthetic was great, meant more for adult males but the employees were extremely friendly. When I was having my cut though, my barber (female) kept getting talked to by the barber next to us (male) who kept making jokes that they refused to say in front of me, so likely something inappropriate (kept talking about peaches?? idk) and then he pulled her over and said something that made her holler so loud everybody thought she got attacked or something but it was apparently that funny of a joke I guess. The other coworker did not seem impressed or amused, rather just seeing this as immature. Anyways my actual haircut was decent but some kid at school told me his friend said my haircut is chopped. My barber didn't give me the taper I asked and instead gave me a fade and the hair grew out into like a mushroom/bowl cut (partially my fault for not getting a haircut in 2 months) My barber was kinda old and I wasn't really happy with my haircut or the fact I got no advice on how to style it. read more

Not impressed after leaving Hammer & Nails for the first time. The shop is clean, the front desk was very friendly, but the actual haircut was not worth $100 after tip. I was excited to try the shop after my normal barber moved out of the area. The barber was not very personable. During the whole 45 minute service I think he said 3 words and kept mumbling to himself. This was a stark contrast to the receptionist who sold me on the "premium" service that would offer a more consultative approach and allow the barber more time to work. The barber did a low fade, missed the area around my ears and did not transition it with my beard. These to me are basics that should not be missed at this price point. While the place is nice and has TVs at every station, the barber had me pointed towards a blank wall the whole time. For the price point, and the cut, not sure if I would try this place again. read more

I took my son here to get him exposed to the service. I normally frequent one of the locations in CA. We were both very thrilled with the experience here. I hade Kimmy and he had Alexis. The service was great. The way Kimmy did the mani and pedi felt like she truly enjoys her customers and wants them to have the best experience possible. She was helping out the Reston location, which she does sometimes. However, I will definitely seek her out the next time I am in the area and get the service. I was a Premium VIP member for two months and really liked my first cut enough I thought I had found a new place I could trust. Mind you this was the first time being back to a barber as I was just shaving my head down for almost three years due to covid and just got used to it. After three years of doing, it myself I decided to head back to the barbershop. First cut was great. I scheduled my second appointment two weeks out with the same person as she was extremely knowledgeable and really took the time cutting my hair. Second appointment I come in and the person I had scheduled with was out as I was told she was in the hospital. Found out later this was not the case. Was offered someone else and took it as I needed a haircut. It was not a good haircut and I had to point out several hairs missed. If I would have walked out without saying a thing it would have looked like I had my kids cut my hair. In additions I scheduled and paid for a premium cut. It was a 15-minute cut, no massage, no shaving of the neck even though those are services supposed to be done with a premium cut at $80. Third cut in had my appointment at 9:00am was taken in at 9:15am. Had my person and discussed my last cut and got an amazing cut. Walked out happy. Forth cut was great but again some of the premium services were missed as I felt I was being rushed out to make up for time. No shaving of neck or massage. Again, reserved and paid for a premium cut. I liked the cut, so I left it alone as the hairstylist I had is good at her job once you sit in the chair. My last visit and last straw. Came in for my 9:00am appointment which I scheduled a month out and was told my person was late due to traffic. She was just getting to her first appointment. Was asked if I would take someone else and told them "No" as I was not happy with the cut that happen last time, I switched hairstylists. Understanding things happen I walked out with a reschedule for the next day at noon. About 30 minutes after I left, I received a text that the hairstylist could not do 12:00pm and I would need to find another date. Mind you I have a small window of time for a haircut as I have a busy schedule. It came down to nothing worked as I told them my availability and would get a different time and day. Finally told the person I was talking with to just cancel my membership and my next appointments as its clear we were not on the same page with keeping appointments. I even texted them to verify everything was canceled and was told they were. At $80 for a premium cut and I was tipping $20 there were expectations of maintaining a schedule and getting a quality haircut. Was refunded my membership fee I just paid for but actually still have credits for two more cuts as they were not used. Figure I would just eat them as it was not worth the hassle of trying to use them. Two weeks down the road I get a text that they are looking forward to seeing me the next day. I had to call again to make sure they actually canceled them this time. With the price for services there are expectation that were just not met. I was disappointed as I liked the membership process and was hoping for a lasting business relationship with this place. Instead, I was highly disappointed with them. Only reason it's a three star and not a one or two is because when I had the right person it was a quality cut, just not the services I paid for or able to keep a schedule. read more

I went out on a limb to try this new Men's salon, and here is what I experienced. Here is what I liked: 1) It was very clean and comfortable environment, 2) relatively convenient location, 3) all of the products (shampoo, styling product, etc) used were of good quality and 4) I appreciated the fact that the receptionist let me know 20 minutes early that there was a 15 minute delay to my scheduled appointment. What could have been better: 1) The receptionist and the stylist disagreed in front of my whether my first visit entitled me to a free drink, which was very awkward (the website states first time visitors do received a free drink) but the coffee was great, and 2) after showing the stylist a picture of a medium length hair style I was assured that the style would work for me, but it wasn't until halfway through the cut that I was informed that "my hair does grow the right way" and that the style couldn't work for me and was I was left with was a very short cut that looks nothing like what I asked for. Overall, I left disappointed knowing it is going to take time for my hair to grow back to be able to get it cut again by someone I can trust. read more

The employee was an expert in the craft. Hopefully a location within DC is in the works. The only drawback is the place being in Reston. It is Metro accessible however.
