I followed Sun to New Image Salon from another salon, because she's the best stylist I've had for as long as I can remember. She's been doing my hair for close to 10 years, and I hope to be with her for another 10 years. She's the type that once you start going to her, you won't want anyone else doing your hair. Her customer service is wonderful. This salon is small but homey. Everyone including customers are very nice to one another. It has a very laid back atmosphere. Over the last year, I've had several appointments with Sun at this salon to get my hair highlighted, deep conditioned (thanks to Sun, this was the best suggestion she's had yet), a cut, wash, and blow dry. At every appointment, she goes over if I've had any issues, notice a change in texture (dryness), if I want to change anything (color, length, style), etc. If we're doing any changes, she walks me through what her thoughts are and options before she does anything, and then lets me decide what I want to do (no pressure). She is one of the best I've seen with highlights and color and some how she has managed to increase the health of my hair and thickness (I used to have really fine hair) with how she cuts my hair and conditions it. At this point, I trust her completely with my hair and style, but we still go through a plan of what she's going to do that visit before anything happens. She has also cut both my daughters' hair this last year and she has done an amazing job with them too. Unfortunately, they have my fine hair but Sun knows just what to do to give them a hair cut that naturally falls into place and maximizes their hair's overall health so I'm not stuck styling their hair fir a long time each morning. We're a low maintenance crew and she knows just what to make these girls look and feel good. My daughters refuse to let anyone else cut their hair, and they are excited to see her each time. I also get my eyebrows waxed by Nami and Nicole. They are great. Both are very stylish in their eyebrow shaping, and Nami is very precise. Both have a lot of experience, and they are hair stylists at the salon too. So they are very accessible. At this salon, all of my family's hair and beauty needs are taken care of. Every time my daughters' and I go, we look great and feel great when we leave. read more

I have been coming to new image since moving to VA. I have short, thick hair and was looking for someone to keep up with my cut. Nami is highly recommended. She's very detailed and I love the way she cuts my hair. Reasonably priced, cc payments has a small added percentage but it's fine. If you're picky with the way your hair is cut, give Nami a try. I have not been disappointed yet and I doubt I ever will be. No upselling at this salon. They don't try to sell you services and products. She just listens to your request/preference. My mom and I have went to Nami for years, back when she worked at another salon in Centreville. When she moved to New Image located off of route 50 right next to the Lowes, we decided to follow her. She's is the sweetest person ever and truly takes her time when cutting/styling your hair. She works hard and doesn't waste any time. She's quick on days when I'm in a rush and has given me her personal cell number for when I need to make a last minute appointment. I'll go to her just so she can wash, blowdry, and straighten my hair. It makes my life TEN times easier and gives me some "me" time and much needed relaxation. I dread doing my hair because it's thick and consumes so much of my time but she makes it fun when I feel like pampering myself. Her prices are reasonable and cheaper than most fancy high end places. My only advice is since it's located in a strip/shopping center, it doesn't look like much. It doesn't really catch your eye from the parking lot and the decor/salon itself is outdated. I can't believe I didn't find this awesome place until this week. One of the stylists at Great Clips messed up my daughter's long hair (couldn't get basic curtain bangs or longer layers done) so frantically started looking for a new salon when we came across the reviews of New Image Salon on Yelp. I originally went to see the Asian guy with the yellow hair but he had some appointments already lined up. Instead, this small Asian lady named Nami was available immediately. I took a chance on her and I'm very glad I did! She was amazingly skilled with her sheers and precise with her cuts. She had suggestions that I didn't think would work, but she convinced me to try. I warned her that I had a flat head in the back and to the left side, so she would have to work around it to make it look somewhat even. I don't know what she did, but it worked. read more

I followed my hairstylist Sun Bellows to New Image Salon. The location is abit out of the way but it means easy parking. Everyone is very friendly and they have nail services too. I highly recommend Sun, she is as much a hair therapist as a hairstylist. My hair was brittle and dry and falling out and she helped me bring the original health back to my hair and her haircuts always grow out nicely. She is good colorist too. She takes the time to talk to you and when she applies color she does it thoughtfully and mindful of doing the least damage possible. I have been with her for 7years now and I wouldn't go to anyone else. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dinh! I mixed up my appointment time and arrived about an hour an a half early and Dinh said he would see me early which was great! I felt bad because he may have been on his break but he told me not to worry about it. Dinh listened to what I wanted done to my hair and instead of telling me that was a bad idea....he would say "okay so you want this but I think this may be better" and explained to my why it would be better. Instead of me feeling like what I wanted didn't matter (which has happened to me plenty of times), he listened and took what I wanted and made it better. I absolutely loved that. Dinh was fun to chat with and I felt very comfortable. New Image was clean, affordable and everyone was very polite. I booked an appointment the day of, so maybe my less-than-OK experience was my fault, but I was still very underwhelmed after reading the great Yelp reviews. I did not get Nicole, who I assume was the lady telling my hair stylist what to do; I think I got someone a little less experienced, or at least had never done what I wanted. I was there for almost 3 hours and never offered a water. I feel like it's pretty typical for a salon to offer bottled water these days. Some of the other women were also complaining about the space - not something you want to do in front of customers. And, in the end, I didn't get the hair cut I asked for at all. I pretty much walked out with the same cut, but shorter. Still fighting these bangs. I wouldn't tell anyone to absolutely never go here, but I don't plan on going back. read more

I followed Anthony Tran to New Image Salon from the salon where he previously had a chair. I'd follow him pretty much anywhere in the area. He's been doing my daughter-in-laws hair for 20 years and she recommended him when I needed a new stylist several years ago. He's great: quick, efficient, knows his styles, cuts, colors, very accommodating, and easy to deal with. In addition to my DIL's and my hair, he's also doing both of my sons' and two of my grandchildren's hair -- it's always fun coming in and finding out who's been in to see him last. I found Nicole quite by accident when I first moved to Northern Virginia 12 years ago, just before she opened her own salon, and I've never switched. Nicole does my hair and my two adult sons too. She really knows us and what sort of cuts we feel comfortable with and what's really going to work for us. She won't just give you what you ask for if she doesn't believe it will suit you, and that also includes whether she believes you'll be able to properly care for a particular cut. For example, one of my sons has the long, straight pony tail, so she tries to layer it, but not so much that he won't be able to manage with a simple air dry. My other son has the opposite hair, thin but very curly. She's watched him grow up and knows what sort of looks makes him the most comfortable, and when needed, convinces him to get the sort of cut that will last several weeks. As I've aged, she's managed to find several different looks that compliment my long nose, long face, and new wrinkles without giving me a dated, middle-aged look. We're usually able to get an appointment with just a couple days notice. Although walk-ins are advertised, the shop is good so they get very busy on Saturdays. The folks who work there seem to get along really well and the chatter is usually very pleasant. Prices very, very reasonable. read more

I called New Image Salon around 10:43am on a random Friday and practically begged them to have some sort of availability for me. My hair had basically been growing out for about a year, after having gotten a Japanese digi-perm and I wanted to take care of the alarming number of dead/split ends I was finding on a daily basis along with trimming my bangs. Not only did they take me right away (I am about an 8 minutes drive away and they offered immediate availability) but Lynne was fantastic. She sat me down in the chair, went over how I wear my hair, style it, what I like to do with it, and gave me multiple options to choose from. I ended up chopping off six inches of hair with her and she also fixed my bangs for me. All in all, she was completely and totally wonderful and I felt complete relaxed and at ease with her- even with seeing the huge heap of hair piling up on the floor around me :-) I will definitely go back to her and definitely recommend her and New Image Salon. read more

The prices were reasonable, she listened to what I had to say, and her ability to translate my likes and dislikes into an amazing haircut was awesome.
