Tucked away in one corner of the mall lies a barbershop that's right next door to a salon. I think they are both owned by the same person so I guess that makes sense. My barber Yusuf was nice and greeted me the same way as I did months ago. I'm pretty simple when it comes to haircuts. I like my hair short, especially on the sides the most because they grow out. Yusuf was nice to take on my request and we didn't run into any complaints. We had brief conversations about his work and how he got here ( he won a competition in his country ) so that was a good way to pass the time. I think the price point is a bit pricier than most places I have been too, but the location and the service you get is great. Just make sure to ask if they offer you shampoo, shave, ect.. before you walk out with a $40+ bill. I know there's a chart that explains what else you can add on to your haircut but some people just don't really read the board... Especially me after a long day of work. Would I recommend this place? Yeah, though make sure you find a barber that you like. It might be a different experience if you go there without asking for said person.

The stylist cut his hair unevenly, with some parts much shorter than others. Later, we found out that the person who cut his hair wasn't even a trained hairdresser and had just started working there! When my son's hair dried, I realized how bad the cut actually was, so I went back to have it fixed. Unfortunately, the second attempt didn't help at all. Now we have to wait for his hair to grow out to get it fixed properly somewhere else. Very unprofessional--I do not recommend this place!

SEUNG = 5+ STARS I can't speak for the rest of the salon, but Seung (spoken like "Song" I think) is AMAZING. I first went to her for a hair cut, explained vaguely what I wanted, and she was able to visualize it. She did an awesome job giving me what I asked for. Today, I went in with a vague idea of what color I wanted to highlight my hair. She took time talking with me, understanding what I wanted. She said she had a different color opinion and addressed my skin tone/eyebrow color, but she still listened to what I wanted. She showed me the options in the highlight color book, explaining each color and the effect it would give. She then helped me pick a color, asking if I liked it and was good with it. She was not pushy at all and did a great job informing me so I could make the best decision. She also did an AMAZING job on the highlights, they look incredible and so natural. I then opted for a haircut and again, she listened to my ideas, gave me her perspective, and then gave me an incredible cut. Seung is also great shaping eyebrows. I have horribly hairy ones that require real shaping. I also hate thin brows. She listened and gave me exactly what I wanted. The last Bubbles Salon I went to took way too much off, leaving me with an unbalanced look. But Seung gave me FANTASTIC eyebrows. I think what makes Seung so great is her listening skills. She's great at listening and visualizing what it is you want; then if she agrees, she'll tell you. If not, she'll give her honest opinion, but not push it. She really worked with me to find a happy medium and I'm VERY happy! I completely recommend Seung for eyebrow shaping, highlights, haircuts, everything. I did the three through her and I'm so happy with the results! read more

Making the decision to "go natural" isn't easy especially if you've been coloring your hair for years. The snowstorms of February 2010 kept me from my favorite downtown Bubbles. I had also just read Going Gray by Anne Kreamer and decided to try being a silver fox! I walked into the Bubbles at Fairfax Corner and met Linh at the front desk totally by chance. Over the next twelve months Linh worked on my hair, cutting and styling it at each stage as the color worked its way out from root to tip. To speed the process I asked Linh for a very short style. I am not exaggerating when I call Linh "fantastic" for me. I am still a repeat visitor every 6-8 weeks. I liked my ultra short cut so much that I still have it almost two years later. This winter Linh has added highlights to my hair. It is sculptured very short at the back with a side part. The front falls in two lovely sweeping curves. When I am exercising, I brush the hair behind my ears and have a totally different second look--unusual with short hair. I have had more comments on my new foxy look in 2011 than I had in the eight years I colored my hair dark brown to hide the gray. Women at both my pilates studio and my gym love the highlights in the silver hair. I highly recommend Linh's skills with both color and style! Now I can't resist coming in to Bubbles just for a blow-dry on a weekend instead of waiting out the time until a cut is due! read more

First off, I want to give a HUGE thank you to Rocio! I went in on Wednesday for a consultation for what I wanted to do with my hair. I kind of wanted a dramatic change; shorter hair and getting an ombre/balayage. She asked me what I preferred and also gave me her input of what would work best for my hair. She gave me a solid price point, which all came up to be around 230. She booked me at 7 o'clock that Friday. Little did I know that she actually only worked until 8 on Fridays! However, she stayed until 9:20 PM (along with the receptionist and another stylist) to make sure my hair came out amazing! I never felt rushed, or that I was a burden even though they technically closed at 9 PM. The other girls were even joking around with me, which was comforting. Rocio is an amazing stylist. She turned my hair from dull and thin to hair with lots of dimensions! Throughout the whole time she walked me step by step, so that I knew exactly what I was getting (and paying for)! She is extremely friendly, and always asked how I could be more comfortable. She has made me a loyal customer, even after one hair session! I could not be happier. read more

I've had very short hair for a long time. For years I've changed my natural Italian black hair to fiery red, blonde and colored streaks.I wanted to grow it out for my wedding and make it healthy again but Every time I got to a hair helmet stage I'd chop it off! I recently moved with my fiancé to the Fairfax area and I thought I'd try a couple salons to see if anyone could fix my head!! Sarah Haller at Bubbles not only saved my fried hair from further damage (returning it to my natural black to my fiancés relief!) but was able to cut my pixie into a style that, as it grew out, didn't make me look like a prepubescent boy!! My hair is now to my jaw and, with Sarah's patient counseling, is curled, pinned, and gelled into cute styles by yours truly! I'm so excited to have hair again and so grateful that I found someone so knowledgeable in hair color, and hair growth!! Sarah saved my head and my wedding! I will be returning to Bubbles long after my locks reach Rapunzel length! I will never touch my own hair again, I have Sarah and the wonderful Bubbles team for that now! read more

It was my first time in this salon, the place wasn't big but it was clean. I had Jade as my stylist, she was really nice. It was her first day working there but she's been in the industry for quite some time. I asked for a shoulder length bob, I showed her a picture and she did it perfectly. She didn't overdo it, she said she'd rather re-cut the hair if I wanted it shorter instead of cutting it too short initially. I really liked that. I also asked her about good hair products to keep my hair from being too flat, she mentioned a brand and said she'll find out if they have it in the salon. She explained the key ingredients I should look for and avoid when looking for hair products. As I was paying at the cashier, she showed me where the product was but didn't pressure me into buying it, which I give her more points for! Overall, I really liked my experience here and the price was reasonable. I will definitely go back to this salon. read more

I have been going to Bubbles in Fairfax Corner for just about 2 years (prior to which I colored my own hair). I started with a cut, color, and highlights and never turned back. I need to get my roots done every 3 weeks (usually accompanied by a bang trim) and have been going to see Linh like clockwork. She lets me know when I need to re-do my highlights, which I've only had to touch up 3 or 4 times. The stylists are always friendly and fun to watch. I am always seen in a timely fashion and treated professionally. I actually live for the shampoo/rinse/massage! I've never been to Bubbles. Of course I was hesitant in getting highlights from someone new. Kat ended up being my stylist and I'm so very glad! She was amazing! Very friendly and she nailed the look I wanted with the highlights I got. Kat got the color right and toned it perfectly - it was on point! My highlights are subtle and natural looking, yet they still stand out. I have dark brown hair and my highlights are blonde/golden blonde. I can't stop looking in the mirror to look at my hair. I'm DEFINITELY coming back to see Kat next time :) She's awesome, get your hair styled by her at Bubbles in Fairfax Corner. Not super cheap, but definitely affordable for mostly anyone. read more

I had the Keratin Treatment done yesterday by Irena in Fairfax Corner. This is the second time I've had her do this treatment. I had it done last June and I was told it would last only 6 months. Mine lasted almost a year! The treatment itself is not cheap, but it has made my hair so smooth and shiny! Irena does such a thorough job and is very meticulous with how she applies the product and "seals" the product into your hair. I highly recommend her and this treatment. IRENA has been my go-to hair dresser for the past couple years now. I knew I'd come back after my first visit because she knew her stuff and cared enough to advise me against what I had originally thought would make my hair look better (more layers...but with thinning hair). She explained to me WHY things shouldn't be done to hair because of its chemical structure (such as to never blow dry upside down against the hair). Irena doesn't pressure me into buying hair products or trying a new look; she merely suggests. She starts me off with a compliment and refreshment. I look forward to every appointment. read more

When I moved to the fairfax area, I had a hard time finding a descent men's haircut. I went from barbershops, hair cuttery's and places I've never heard before while getting laughs at work the next day. I'll admit, it was pretty funny, but when I needed to look my best, those places weren't 'cutting' it. In all seriousness, I'm on this website to share my find and help out any guy/girl looking for a great cut. I got my hair done by senior stylist Sarah Haller for the first time. She was amazing! She started off with a thorough consultation about what I wanted and how she could achieve the color I wanted (pearly platinum). And she didn't disappoint. She started out by giving me full high lights that turned out great, then toned it to perfection with a pearly iridescent toner. I'm LOVING my color. I have used Bubbles for the past five years or so, dating back to when it was located in the mall. While I had previously enjoyed my experience recently I feel that it is going downhill. I had a younger stylist who ranted about how sick she was the entire time she did my hair. I asked to go blonde but after three appointments my hair was still brown. I have naturally blonde hair, so it shouldn't take three appointments to lighten my hair. I was disappointed to see a chain that I had so much enjoyed before go down hill. read more
