I've brought my dog here many, many times and they've always done a great job grooming him. We've enjoyed bringing him here and have had no complaints until our most recent visit. They did another great job grooming our dog, or so we thought. We brought our dog home directly from the groomer and then my husband and I went out to dinner. When we returned home, we saw drops of red blood on our bedspread. We noticed our dog was intently licking his paw, and sure enough we saw that he was bleeding from his nail. It had been cut too short and the inner part of the nail was exposed and bleeding.
We washed it out and called our vet first thing in the morning. Our vet instructed us to purchase a cone for our dog, as it was imperative that he not lick the wound because that could lead to infection. I went and bought a cone for $40, which of course my dog hated and we hated seeing him in it so upset and uncomfortable - not what we had in mind when getting our dog groomed. My husband also called Bubbles to inform them of the injury. He spoke with the woman who cut his nails, who apologized and said that yes, the dog was squirming and she cut his nail and it was bleeding. I completely believe that my dog was squirming and being difficult, and I understand no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes..so I am not upset that she cut my dog, as I understand accidents like this happen. What I am upset about is the fact that they absolutely KNEW they cut my dog, he was bleeding, and they failed to be up front and honest with us. No one mentioned this incident to us at all when we picked him up and paid for the service, and included a nice tip. They just accepted our money and tip, and that was it. Had we failed to notice our dog's odd behavior that night, or had we not had a white bedspread which easily showed the blood, our dog could have gotten a serious infection and they KNEW about it and didn't tell us - THAT is what makes me upset.
A day later, I was so upset about the situation that my husband called back and asked for refund. At the very least, I was hoping to be compensated for the $40 we had to spend on the cone since that was an expense we incurred because of their negligence, on top of the money we had already spent on the service and tip. They refused to refund us and did not offer to reimburse us for our additional expense because of their mistake. They did say they would give us a credit for a future grooming, but I absolutely cannot bring my dog back here. I know that a squirming dog could lead to a cut at any other groomer, but I need to be able to TRUST that the groomer would do the right thing and inform me honestly of what happened rather than say nothing, accept my money and tip, and put my dog at risk for getting an infection just because they weren't honest about what happened. I cannot reiterate enough that I am not upset about the cut, but upset about the dishonesty in this situation. I love the job they did grooming my dog all these times and am so extremely disappointed that I have lost my trust to the point that I cannot return here for grooming service, or recommend it to others. read more
