Wish I could give negative stars. I called over a week ago to see what times were available. He said he didn't "do" appointments, but I asked what was the latest I could come in since I get off at 5:30p. He agreed and asked for my dog's name. I told him "I'll see you shortly after 5:30p" l. We got here at said time and he was not here nor answering the phone. We wasted a week! I could gave literally anywhere else. I knew it was a red flat when he said he didn't "do" appointments. If he didn't want my business then he shouldn't have agreed to a time. And I am 1000% I didn't mis-hear him as he was on speaker and my husband and I both heard the same thing. read more

Great no frills grooming with a personal touch. I have a particularly fearful dog who is scared to walk on a busy street but actually is excited to go to the groomers thanks to Bill's calm and caring demeanor. Easy to get an appointment as long as you call a week or so in advance and my pup always comes out looking and feeling great. Bill took extra care to tell me as a new customer to come early to make sure that my shy guy is first out to minimize stress. This groomer is the best service I've found for my dog since I moved here in 2018! It's within walking distance of my house. The owner (and groomers) are friendly and more importantly KNOW and LOVE dogs. The prices are extremely reasonable. Definitely get an appointment at least a week in advance for Saturdays and a few days in advance for the weekdays. He fills up quickly! Not sure how this place stays in business. Owner seems like a nice guy but clearly can't run a business. Had an appointment over a month in advance. Brought in our dog early morning and was told we had the wrong day, brought back our dog the day they said and was told we actually were supposed to come the day before. No attempt to help with the situation because we were "already upset". Terrible customer service. Adding a line after seeing the owner response. That was not the conversation we had at all. I called to see if there was something he could do to fit us in since we waited over a month for the appointment. My husband did not give the wrong name, we have come to this groomer previously. The owner did not take responsibility and was actually very rude and condescending when speaking with me. You will probably already be able to tell by the response. Bill took care of our Molly for 10 years. She started with him as a timid scared pup but he worked his magic and had her wagging her tail entering the shop on grooming days! She always got so many compliments about her style. Sadly, we lost her a year ago and received a call from Bill sharing how much they missed her too. We finally adopted another rescue who also had serious grooming anxiety. Bill met Koya and suggested a series of training sessions to introduce and desensitize him to the grooming process before he tries to do a full grooming. I have a nine month old Rat Terrier who is very high strung and aggressive when anyone tries to touch her paws in order to cut her nails. I knew that I was going to have to find someone who would accept her skittish behavior so I began to research groomers in my area. When I read the great reviews on Yelp regarding Bill's ability to handle dogs that hate getting their nails trimmed, I called the number for Canine Castle and was able to get an appointment immediately. The Canine Castle is conveniently located right next door to the post office on Artesia Blvd and parking was a breeze in the rear of the building. Bill greeted me as I entered the establishment, and took the time to help me through the process with how to handle my dog and how not to talk to her while he was getting her acquainted with him. He must be a dog whisperer, because he was able to handle her and speak to her in a commanding way. He was so patient and calm with her during the entire process. I'm not going to lie to you; my dog was out of control when we first arrived there. She was scared to death, as this was her first time ever getting her nails clipped other than when she went to the vet to receive her shots. Bill is a professional and he was able to handle anything that she threw his way. Her nails were finished in no time at all. I have waited several months to post this review. This is the worst dog groomer I have ever been to. I brought my beautiful male Pom in for a teddy bear cut. We went over exactly what I wanted and the length. When I picked my 11 year old dog up who went in with beautiful long hair, he was shaved completely bald. He looked like a hairless cat. Bill told he he had to shave him that short because I didn't brush him on a regular basis. My Pom has very silky hair and does not mat like other Poms. In my dogs whole life I take him to the groomer every month and NEVER EVER has he needed to be shaved this way. I was new to the area and this place was recommended. It is now all most 3 months later. My dogs hair has never grown back. I have consulted my regular groomer in another state and my dogs veterinarian. Because of what Bill did in his laziness to make a buck and not actually groom a dog. My dogs hair will never grow back. This is the dirtiest shop I have ever been in. The place reeks of cat urine. It looks like it is never swept or cleaned. And they have some sort of pen area set up for a small child.... Not sure what is going on there maybe day care?? Our rescue group, The Peter Zippi Memorial Fund in Hermosa Beach, rescued a badly matted medium-long hair cat. Early on a Saturday morning, at the suggestion of our volunteers who is a happy client here, a call was made, and Bill helped the cat right away. He was gentle, and very good with the cat, and was able to remove the mats with a minimum amount of shaving. The cat was not stressed, and relieved of a painful situation. We are sincerely grateful to Bill for helping make a whole new life begin for one lucky cat. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I can see why this grooming place has loyal followers. I can also see why there are some negative reviews. I forget her name.. but the main groomer.. shes REALLY GOOD at what she does. Definitely knows how to groom, and it shows through on the dog. One of the best grooms that our dog has received. However... the groomer isn't the nicest.. I've called a couple times for information.. and it's been a hit or miss.. I guess depending on the time you call.. and how her day is going you'll either get a nice person on the phone or a short snappish person.... (everyone's human right..?) This place does get booked quick.. and they don't take in walk-ins. So booking an appt 1.5-2 weeks in advance is important. First thoughts as I walked in.. I dropped off the dog shortly after 8am on a Saturday. The place smelled of urine, they have a makeshift gated area for what appears to be a child's play area (for her own child) not far from the grooming table... (which I thought was a little weird, but hey.. whatever works & to each there own) As we dropped her off, our normal excited to see everyone 1.5 yr old dog was afraid to go in. (this I thought was a little odd.. she's never been afraid of anyone) Fast forward to pick up time- The urine smell wasn't present upon picking up our dog 5 hrs later. Charge was $45 for a cut, ears were cleaned and nails were cut (a plus!) BUT.. upon returning home and checking out our dogs cut.. I noticed a 1" clean cut on her inner thigh... which was not mentioned to us when we picked her up. THIS.. is the main reason we will not be returning. We will be returning to Pink Pucci.. which is a little out of our way distance wise.... however we've always been treated nicely over the phone and in person.. and most importantly our dog loves going there.. and looks great each time she walks out. Pros- Great cut, decently priced Cons- lacks customer service, needs to be booked 1.5-2 weeks ahead. (Really would've appreciated if the groomer mentioned she accidentally cut our dog..when we picked her up and not finding it on our own) read more

How is this place rated so high? I took my two dogs here, and this did adequate cuts. Nothing particularly great. And i was not in love with the people I dealt with. But it got worse. Both my dogs came home with flees. This is absolutely unacceptable. read more

I had a seriously horrible flea infestation a few months ago, and finally had to make an appointment to get my place treated, which meant I had to take the cats somewhere for the day. In comes Canine Castle! I called around to a bunch of places in the South Bay, trying to find somewhere that did flea baths for cats. Canine Castle informed me that they did, and I brought my two cats plus my dad's cat in early on a Saturday morning. So that's THREE cats that were plagued with fleas in need of flea baths and grooming. It was $45/cat, and Canine Castle was kind enough to hold onto all the cats until well into the afternoon when it was safe for me to bring them back home. The cats smelled great, their fur was soft and luxurious, and the best part was they were flealess!!! And have been since then. The owner was super friendly and chatty too, it's made me want to take my cats there for grooming every now and then just because of the great service and how clean and soft the cats were! read more
