Bubba's Drive-thru packed on National Cheeseburger Day!
    Andy M.

Home of one of the great burgers of all time in my opinion, the Bubba's Crispy Mushroom and Swiss Burger is so delicious, it's hard to describe. I get it without the ranch dressing, as it's just overkill. It's amazing without it.

    Onion rings-delicious!

If you want a good burger, don't go here. Burgers are dry and flavorless! Expensive for what you get! Service was good tho, friendly cashier!

Discovered this place on a whim. Didn't realize it existed, but the giant electric sign did exactly what it was meant to do, it told me caramel cashew custard would soon be in my future. The place is eclectic inside, kind of a bright blue 80's vibe. They also have a sort of weird fountain in side that sort of makes you feel like you might have to pee (so don't sit too close.) Quirkiness aside, the custard I had there was BOMB. Custard is superior to ice cream. There, I said it. The custard cone I had here was loaded with cashews and had the perfect swirl of caramel. That's the only thing I got there, but that one cone was enough to get me to come back. Enough said.

This is some of the best frozen custard I've ever had! I ordered a concrete with heath candy and they loaded it with candy, so I definitely felt like I got my moneys worth. I tried their mozzarella sticks too which were good, but a bit bland. The atmosphere is very small-town sporty cute and the employees were very friendly. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I get a craving for custard!!

It's National Hotdog day, so I decided to stop by Bubba's to grab a few. I ended up going through the drive thru even though my first instincts told me to just grab my food to-go inside. I should have listened to my gut. The drive thru took forever as a vehicle 2 or 3 ahead of me seemingly ordered one of everything. Or maybe they were counting out pennies to pay for their order... I really couldn't imagine why things were taking so long for that one person. Once they were gone, things moved quickly as you would expect for typical drive thru's. I returned to work with my bag of takeout from Bubba's and was excited to dig in! I had ordered a Chicago Style Dog and a Bubbadog. The Chicago Style is stated as having an all beef hot dog with the works (pickle spear, tomato, onions, mustard, celery salt, nuclear green relish & sport peppers) on a poppy seed bun. It was delicious. Mine was missing the sport peppers, but that wasn't a concern for me as I usually pull them off anyway because of the stems. The Bubbadog is an all beef dog topped with 2 strips of bacon, cheddar cheese sauce and fried onions. I really liked this one! The cheddar cheese sauce was super tasty and I couldn't get enough of their fried onions! Amazing! Overall my National Hotdog Day and first trip to Bubba's Frozen Custard was 100% enjoyable. I look forward to going back to try more!

I had to make a special delivery to one of my customers who was short handed to get his customer satisfied around lunch time so I stopped here to get a couple burgers for me and boss. The place is just a different Culver's or Kopps doing the same thing, custard and fast food like all the other places around but trying to look hipper while doing it. There is an out door patio with a couple tables for the nice weather days. There is a wishing well as you walk in which was kind of strange but that's there stick I guess. We would try the Wisconsin cheesehead burger with bacon, Monterey Jack, white cheddar curds, American cheese and ranch dressing. The burger looked smashed down and I thought it would taller with cheese curds on it. The dining area and order area is separated with the condiment/soda room which was kind of weird also. The walls are colorful with mirrors and other trinkets. Lots of kids having custard while I was there and the whole custard set up is open so the kiddies can watch the treats getting prepared. And last but not least it looks like Barney threw up all over the place. The burger patty is 1/3 pound flat whopper style that is flame grilled and taste similar to the BK products. The patty it self was on the dry side like its pre cooked and the juices were like Elvis, he has left the building. Overall the whole burger was dry because it's meat, bun, cheese and very thin ranch dressing. Next time I would get lettuce, tomato and raw onion on any burger to moisten it up and it would have been more enjoyable. The bottom line is it's a somewhat tasty burger if your in the area shopping but it's not a destination burger place in any way and no ones favorite great place will be replaced by them.

Large white cheddar cheese curds. The best I have ever had!

But it's pretty minimal inside and it's a place that you would get stuff to go. The guy at the counter was very nice and extremely helpful. I made a couple modifications and he was so kind about it even though I know I was being kind of annoying and apologized for it. He was so nice and did not make me feel bad. The service is great. I did notice that he both works the counter and cooks the food in the back, so he's clearly very hard-working. The fries were great crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The chicken sandwich was made well, but the chicken was a little bit dry, which is why I gave four stars instead of five. I added some extra sauce I had at home and it was perfect. I would maybe recommend asking for extra sauce if you plan on eating it there. Overall good food and great service. Will definitely be back if we need something quick to go.

All three of them ended up ordering plain cheeseburgers with fries for an up charge. With my fish fry I got potato pancakes. My wife also ordered garlic cheese bread for her and the kids to share. The garlic cheese bread was fine. The order consisted of two thick pieces of Texas toast with a lot of cheese. The small bite I tried didn't have much garlic flavor, but it was good. All three of them liked their burgers and the bite I tried led me to concur. The patties had noticeable amounts of both seasoning and char flavor, but not an overwhelming amount of either. They all said they'd get the burger again. The fries looked hand cut, but I'd be surprised if they do that in house. Like the burger, the fries had just the right amount of seasoning on them. The fish was great. The breading was very crispy and the pieces were decent size. The potato pancakes were more like hash brown patties that had some onion flavor and I liked that. Mugshotz is definitely bar first, grill second. There were only four tables outside the bar area and the bar area was packed and loud. I didn't see anyone waiting tables for the first 20 minutes I was there, but once we were waited on and they did an ok job checking in. Food took a little longer than expected given how few tables they had, but I assume the kitchen is just as small. The menu is outdated; both the cheeseburger and up charge for fries cost a $1 more than what's on the menu.

New management/ownership and it's unfortunate to see this place slide. I'll start out by saying…read morethe food here has never been amazing. Frozen burger patties for sure, it was bar food with slightly upscale beer variety for adults and a kids meal served on a frisbee for their plate for the young ones with discounted arcade card options with meals. Overall fun and worth a trip every so often for a family meal out. This weekend we first noticed new smaller menus, simple can be ok, no big deal. But we could tell it was new ownership the second our appetizer came out. Portions for our usual fried pickles were legitimately enough for one person served in a dish that could fit a single scoop of ice cream. Weird. One server was wearing the equivalent of hot pants and really should not have been... floors were sticky... and I could see the filth around the handle of the walk in cooler behind the bar.... so I can only imagine the state of the kitchen. The arcade is gross now and not only were a ton of games not in service but some were half pulled away from walls/clearly unkempt. When I say dirty, I mean filthy. It's an arcade, I get it, but it's clear that NO ONE here cares or takes pride in running a clean and organized restaurant/establishment. The kid behind the counter probably isn't paid enough to keep it clean and organized but he does get paid enough to literally play arcade games in between customers... because he did. And hey, maybe that's a perk of this job. But management should then hire someone to wipe the games down at least once per shift. Our server was polite and timely- she also worked here before the change in ownership since I remembered her and none of these things were a reflection of her so I shall not name names. These symptoms start with a lack of management and high standards in the service industry. I really hope they can get it in gear because there's really no appeal to go back as of now.

How in the world does this place stay in business? A few friends and I stopped in on a Saturday…read morearound lunch time and the huge bar was completely empty except for one random guy. Lucky for us, we should get great service, right? Wrong. First of all, we couldn't get a Paloma because they have nothing grapefruit behind the bar. So we ordered basic mixed drinks, like a captain and coke, G&T, etc.. disappointing that a bar so big doesn't even have basic juices but whatever. You know how most bartenders take the bottles that are on display and pour drinks in front of you? They don't do that here. They go around the corner and pour out of some mystery bottles, and as soon as we tasted our drinks we figured out why. The captain and coke tasted like coke, and nothing more. We actually paid for an extra shot just to make the drink properly. Getting that extra shot, though, was a problem - our bartender, who honestly acted like we were a major inconvenience in her day, didn't even look our direction for 15 minutes after delivering weak, ungarnished "cocktails." Live and learn, I guess. Definitely won't be back. UPDATE: through a series of unfortunate events, we did go back. Different bartender this time, but the same completely unfriendly service, horribly understaffed, nothing that would remotely attract a potential diner. We were actually going to grab a burger this time, but after waiting 15 minutes just to *order* a drink, we left to get a burger elsewhere. I mean, imagine that. We are literally at a restaurant with "burger" in the name and we left to get a burger somewhere else. The irony would be funny if I wasn't so pissed off.
