    Nice draft beer selection
    Dan E.

First time visiting Bubba's and I was immediately struck by how beautiful this restaurant is. First from the facade outside, then inside with the airy tavern like vibe. Lot's of wood here which I appreciate. Although we dined inside it was pretty warm. Probably because the front of the restaurant is wide open, coupled with a myriad of skylights. Seems to be the norm for Grand Avenue these days. Service was quick, professional and reasonably friendly. Loved the draft beer selection here, served nice and cold. This establishment is not full bar unfortunately, so refering to it as a "sports bar" might be a misnomer. Men's room was clean, spacious and modern. I ordered the 1/4 Chicken Platter. Comes with one fixin' and a half slice of Texas Toast. Not sure who got the other half but that's ok... I was hoping for a leg quarter but it wound up being a breast quarter. Not sure if there's a choice here, but I wasn't asked. It was meaty, juicy and delicious, although watch out for small, random bones that manifest themselves when you chop a chicken breast in half that way. For the fixin' I chose my favorite, macaroni & cheese! I was impressed that it seemed like a house made mac and not all institutional tasting. It should have been served hotter though, it was just varying degrees of warm throughout. The menu is vast with many other things I would love to try so I look forward to visiting again soon.

Came for a quick Sunday lunch. We liked how open and spacious it was. We entered and was greeted and sat down at our choosing. There were TVs that ran along the bar which would make a fun time watching a game. We placed our orders for bbq chicken and chicken tenders. Food was good. Downside was it took a while for anyone to check in on us and our server disappeared when we wanted the check. Otherwise, seem like a fun space to hang with friends and watch a game.

Great service, beautiful new space and amazing food. Stopped here for a bite to eat and watch the Padres game. This place is new and just great. Lots of TV's which gives you views of the game from any angle - all of the screens are nice and new as well. Priscilla was behind the bar - she was fun to chat with and gave great service. She told us all about the place as it's just a few months since it opened. She gave us some recommendations and we landed on a burger, the bubba special, side of fries (huge portions and yummy) and kombucha on tap. Our food was really good, reasonably priced and big portions. You can tell everyone in the area can't wait for Grand to be open again. We will most certainly be back to try other items from the menu. There are lots of seating options including a large dining area in the back of the restaurant - you can enter from the back parking lot or off grand.

I thought it was a nice place with a balanced selection of food and drink. Like others said, ditch the bud light for a coors light to make the majority happy. Prices are a little high, but I get that the place is in the high rent district of downtown Escondido. Four beers, two IPAs and two Stellas were $44 before the add ons. Shout out to the wings though. They are fantastic. Also, Pricilla on her first day was awesome. I would certainly return but it would have to be a happy hour opportunity. Nice to see a new place in Escondido.

Service was great. 1st time here. My husband wanted Bbq so thought we would give this a try. We were in the area visiting family. They had been recently and enjoyed the sliders. I was disappointed. My husband was going to order just 1/3 rack with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I had him order 1/2 rack and I got a dinner salad. I figured I would take a couple of the ribs and add it as protein to my salad. The meat did come right off of the bone. I just didn't think it had great flavor. I requested a small side of BBQ sauce. That didn't help. I love a good BBQ sauce and this was not even close. It was very thin in consistency. My husband thought it was just fine. I thought the best thing was the Texas Toast. Beers were good and cold. Waitress was wonderful. But $80 later I left disappointed.

I went a few days ago during Cruisin Grand with a couple friends. We were bar/restaurant hopping so we weren't hungry enough to try a few things but we did have beer and wings. Wings came out hot and juicy. Beers were cold and fresh. Server was pleasant and attentive. Lots of TVs around to watch sports while having beers and BBQ.

Bbq flat with sauce and cayenne. Avoid the brisket in general. Get the chicken.

Pro : Moist chicken. Quick service, clean bathroom. Direct access to parking lot in rear. Gorgeous restaurant and back patios. TVs everywhere, great for sports and beer! Con : questionable bbq without identity. Came here on some recommendation from local folks for bbq, was quite unexpected. Its better than the chain or larger outfits in Esco but that's not saying much. 1. Chicken and ribs plate, with potato salad side. - Potato is a Carolina style, creamy with herbs and not salty, enjoyed it. - Toast was perfect, good crunch but not overwhelming. - Chicken was lightly smoked, crispy skin and still moist, the highlight protein of the meal. - Ribs - the trim was baby back, fall off the bone in a bad way, it was just a boiled mess that had bbq sauce on the ribs. The bartender said it was smoked, but there is no smoke ring, just like the chicken or brisket. Avoid. 2. Brisket. Oh boy, this is where everything fell apart. - USDA prime, cool. But they didnt trim it well, the point was a mess. - sucker came out covered in sauce. After I asked what smoking style is it, after some redirect, he said Texas. If you serve central, north, or east Texan bbq, you will get chased out of town. This is some Kansas City style at best. - bbq sauce is some kind of Memphis brand with a lot of brown sugar, watery. - asked for mixed point and flat, was told have to pick one. Ordered point, came out flat. Bartender went back to kitchen to get me some point. Told me this is the first cut of the brisket for dinner service at 430pm. - flat was dry, painfully dey, was told there is no wrap, I could see no smoke ring and there was no inject or enough rub. The rule with bbq is no rub equals no bark, no bark equals no flavor. This place is betting on the bbq sauce to cover up the meat quality. I can't imagine how this hunk of meat will be by 9 pm. - point was a bit burnt, some foil would of deflected the heat source. The restaurant didnt want to waste trimming so trimming was minimal if any. 50% was edible with all the fat. Covered in sauce. - price - 42 USD. I say its reasonable price from just food cost, payroll, and rent. Overall the plating presentation was nice. Bartender brought me vinegar based bbq - south Carolina style with a little kick in spice. Quite a delight with the chicken. Its not as sour as the stuff around Carolinas that I had. If you check out my other reviews of bbq in SD, I usually quote "its easy to have a bbq place in San Diego since the people here have no clue what is good BBQ". This isnt as bad as Felix or Mike's, but its not Heritage (Oceanside) or Grand Olde BBQ (North Park), this is a local restaurant that pretends to serve BBQ. Would come back to try non bbq food, support your local business!

Third review. Consistently great, clean and friendly. Portions amazing, reasonable prices. Try the Cobb salad because it has bbq pulled chicken and pork so tender. Very clean and laid back. All kinds of sports playing. Good music

Yeah like, its pretty decent bbq, but waay overpriced. A caesar salad with no meat is 14 bucks. Looks nice inside. Employees were fine.

    Beef ribs ($34), Pulled pork sandwich ($18!!!) + 4% surcharge so really $35, $19

Server was honestly really, really nice and easy to work with. He did forget one of my items (BBQ) for a while and took a little bit to close out, but overall really enjoyed how attentive he was. The actual bar looks great, and I love the sports atmosphere that they're going for. Our food came out relatively quickly, but I think I know why. Unfortunately the Beef ribs I got tasted as if they were reheated and just not that great. The pulled pork my fiancé got was cold in the middle and didn't have much flavor. The BBQ sauce wasn't my favorite either and was very cold when our server got it to us. The mashed potatoes were extremely creamy and I enjoyed them quite a bit, but my fiancé did not. The Texas toast was pretty decent. I feel horrible writing this because I wanted to enjoy the restaurant so bad because I know it's local. Will likely try again, but Wednesday night was rough!

Bubba's in Escondido was in its first week open when we decided to come in with a group of 10 on a Friday night. Although we showed up early, it was filling up quickly, and they seemed a bit understaffed. Totally understandable for a new establishment working out the kinks. We plan to go back as a couple and maybe not on a Friday night to give it another shot, but the drinks and food that we did receive were good.

The good: Great service from our server, lovely atmosphere, seated quickly on even on Mothers day. Salad and basil dressing were great. The crab cake was good. The unacceptable: The most important part of eggs benedict is the poached eggs, that means cooked whites, runny yolk. 2 of us ordered the dish, and of the 4 poached eggs, three were so overcooked, the yolks were hard boiled, crumbly and dry. I let the server know and asked that they just bring out new eggs, no need to remake the plate. over 15 minutes later, (so ow we had cold crab cakes) they dropped off a small plate with 4 genuinely undercooked poached eggs, they looked like soup. they were a literal puddle. The manager came by to ask if we had out eggs yet a couple moments before they were dropped off, we said no and he and said I'll take care of one of these for you. I don't expect free meals, and I rarely send food back, but this seemed pretty petty. Soupy eggs that took an extraordinarily long time (the restaurant was not at capacity at all). When I received the bill, there was a 15% discount on the eggs benedict. I get tight margins, but at least make the dish correctly please. The hollandaise sauce was good, the server very sweet and friendly (and of course we tipped him 20%, food is not his fault) but I doubt I would try this place again if that is how the rectify substandard meals. They did give me a lovely flower!

They use angus beef for their patties. You can also split your fries which I love! I got to try the onion rings and sweet potato fries. I wish the sweet potato fries were crispy. They were more on the soggy side. The onion rings batter was a lil thicker than I like. The batter overpowered the onion. We also got the Cajun wings to try which was nice and crispy!
