My Mom and I went to Bubba's 33 two days ago. It was a Sunday evening. The place was busy, but there was no wait to sit at our table. Kat waited on us. She was very helpful & attentive. She had it down & was so friendly. We ordered side salads & a pepperoni pizza. We were still eating our salad when the piping hot pizza arrived. The food was tasty. We arrived in San Antonio during a torrential downpour, and a flash flood warning and was looking for a place to eat that would accommodate picky eaters and kids that was close to our motel. After looking on Yelp, Bubbas had the highest rating and was the closest. We were seated right away and our server showed up quickly. She gave us all waters without having to be asked and gave suggestions on what to order. We got fries to share and the kids got a pepperoni pizza and Mac and cheese while I got a burger with broccoli side and my nephew got a pepperoni pizza also. We have now been to Bubba's three times and it was good 2/3. Large, loud sports-bar with eclectic food. Very pro-troops. Pretty good food. The BlackBerry Sweet Tea is amazing. We came here on a Sunday afternoon with our family. There wasn't a wait so we were seated very quickly. I ordered a strawberry lemonade that was so delicious. We ordered for starters some onion rings that were freshly baked and delicious with two types of sauces, ranch and one other. Plates came out so quickly and hot. The salad I ordered was fresh. Salmon was a bit overdone and not overly seasoned but a perfect blend for my salad that was topped off with a lot of crispy seasoned chips. Everyone enjoyed their plates. Were well seasoned and hot. Even the service was really good. Sever attentive. This is a fun hot spot for friends and family where you can listen to music, and enjoy a good ambience. With TV screens all over the place watching 4 different shows, music videos and sports your bound to find something your interested in watching. Lights are dim, so it could work as a date night or just a hang out place with your friends. I'm sure it can get packed on a Fridays or Saturdays because of their drink specials. Weirdest experience ever. The server took my drink order, took my id after the fact (as a 25 year old) and then had the manager come tell me vertical ID's aren't allowed. It's really weird because you would expect the servers to know their policies before serving and purchasing drinks. I guess if you're drinking/dining here make sure you have a horizontal ID because they'll make you pay for the drink you didn't get before they kick you out. bubba's has been pretty consistent with food & service. we probably eat there once a month and servers are usually very friendly and efficient. food has been good and we've tried a lot of menu items. love the burgers, flavorful juicy patties and nice buns that hold up. pizzas - check, Hawaiian is a fave, like the crust - crispy, but soft, toppings - enough of them and bacon on Hawaiian is bonus! the chicken fried chicken i a guilty splurge worthy of the calories (and i usually take half home for another meal). the chicken is tender & moist, and breading is not too heavy. dont skip the yummy bacony gravy - get it on the side if you want to control the calories. fish & chips are great too, generous portion of flaky white fish in a not too heavy batter. side salads are usually very fresh & chilled, and you can sub a side salad out for other sides on some items for a slight upcharge. tonight we finally found a menu item we didnt care for. NOTHING wrong with it really, just not to our taste - the lasagna. the meat instead of being the sausage listed tasted like it was the bacon/ground beef mix that they use on some of the burgers. i love bacon, but apparently not in my lasagna. we try to support mom & pop restaurants, but this is one of our favorite chains. read more

My waiter only saw our table two or three times, including the times for food and drinks. So once basically to check up. My wife is 24 and was not able to order alcoholic drinks because they refused to take her legitimate drivers license because it is "vertical". They even refused to scan it. It's astonishing that my well above age wife cant enjoy a drink because they decided drivers licenses don't verify your age. If you're at risk of serving a minor, do the due diligence to determine facial attribute, check for stamps, or even scan the license. If you have ever worked in a bar, or establishment where you possibly could serve alcohol, you'd know how easy it is. Very unprofessional. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed Bubbas. The greeting at the door to being seated at the the bar was a great experience. Also the bartender...wish I would have gotten her name. Such a sweetheart. She really took care of me...hooked me up with an incredible margarita, which if you know me that's my Number 1 drink. She made that drink very well balanced and just delicious. I'm so pleased with the food as well. I ended up getting a burger and it was great. The only thing I think about it could be done diff is having whole tomatoes on the burger I has a chopped tomato thing going on but it still was tomato so hey can you really say too much. I say go check this place out. The food it made from scratch their in house. I enjoy this place even tho it's a chain restaurant. Give it a try and this Bubbas has the Jams and Tunes in rocking. Wanted Chicago dog when we came to SA but they weren't open so we settled for second favorite... pizza! This place did NOT disappoint (for a chain). Started with chorizo queso dip with tortilla strips. The tortilla strips were freshly deep fried so lots of crunch. They were also dressed with some type of powder seasoning... yum! The chorizo dip looked more like a ground hamburger (no grease). It also has a side of salsa. Had a nice kick in the back of your throat after the bite was gone. We ordered a meaty meaty pizza with 1/2 bbq sauce and 1/2 tomato sauce. Wow! The crust had so much texture from the corn meal on the bottom to the little pockets of crispy edges to the drizzle of garlic butter all the way around. It had a large amount of toppings and the cheese pull was incredible (look at pic). Large screen TVs everywhere with great music. Only thing that kept them from a fifth star was that we had to ask for plates and Parmesan cheese. That stuff should be delivered to the table right needles the pizza arrives. I am happy to say that even though this place was packed they were able to seat us in the bar at a booth right away. Yeah things took a little while but when you are the place to be in town that doesn't bother me. The staff took great care of us. I have to say that these were the best onion rings I have ever had! And their signature sauce is awesome! The bacon cheeseburger was delicious, along with the meat lovers pizza and kids cheese. Fresh hot and delicious would be how I describe our meal, topped off with cold adult beverages. I would definitely come back for a date night with cold drinks or bring the fam back for a meal. Ok, so I have to admit I had my skepticism about a place named Bubba's prior to my first visit. I've been back at least 5 times for lunch since then. There are many places like Bubba's around SA that offer the same type of Americana fare. There's nothing spectacular about the Bubba's menu. Normally I get the Hot & Spicy chicken sandwich which is very good. Not Popeyes good but very close. They should use more of whatever sauce they use. I tried their burger once and it was just ok. Same with their fish & chips. Neither dish was bad, just fine. The game changer is their onion rings which are *perfect.* (their tator tots are good too). Like literally perfection. Not only are they super crispy, they are impeccably seasoned. And the dipping sauce is great too. Throw in a good beer at reasonable prices (that are comparable to any other like restaurant in the area) & you have a winning recipe. I've only been for lunch but it looks like it gets crowded. Why would you put someone that unwelcoming at your door? I have started getting anxiety just coming here. I'll have made a mental note to come only during lunch. Our waitress was new and although sweet she was not attentive or able to get the order correct. Our server also stopped with our food and spoke to a guest for a few seconds all while he leaned over and looked at our food, with no mask. Anxiety level was off the ropes. This is a revision to my 5 star review. This place has gone downhill fast. Our last 2 times here solidified it was our final time here. Horribly slow service is the first thing running this place in the ground. They said they were watching their portion control now and I got 15 French fries with the fish and chips. The cole slaw was white. You couldn't tell it had cabbage at all. They should use portion control with the mayo for sure. The other 6 family members were all similar. Everybody left and wanted more food an hour later. The main meal was flavorful but when you can't eat one side dish and barely get another, time to find a new restaurant. read more

Bubba's 33 is so welcoming. Everyone is so nice. The first time I went there they had issues with their audio and TVs and they were very apologetic. It didn't bother me tho because when they found out it was our first time there they called over the marketing director and we were given a few items for being new. It was very unexpected and very nice. The food is good but I have to say the pizza is amazing!! I'm originally from NY and it's hard to find good pizza but Bubba's is definitely my number 2. (After NY pizza lol) The TVs and audio are now fixed and it was so much fun watching the games there. I will continue to visit this establishment and I highly recommend it!! read more

Ok, so I didn't get to do my very first review very well. I was with my friends but this time I came alone. I ordered the blue ocean long Island ice tea and it tastes like what a blue ocean would taste like without all the yuck. Very refreshing and it made me smile! I also ordered the California chicken with a side salad and Cole slaw. Their side salad looks amazing! It has potato straws, eggs, cheese and lettuce. I subtracted the onions and tomato. My man's dream come true! Got to eat in the GARAGE Bar surrounded by huge TVs, quirky memorabilia, & fun music. Bubbas 33 is the perfect spot to watch the game or bring the whole family out to lunch or dinner. Highly recommend the Spicy Habanero Burger. Super delish, if you can take the heat!! This place is very good for what it is. An American style eats restaurant, you'll get a healthy serving of whatever item you pull off the menu. I did have a problem with cold fries when I went there, but I doubt that would be a recurrent problem. Haven't really been back since then just because this isn't my favorite type of restaurant. But the ambiance is very much like any Applebee's type clones with the dark wood, etc. The service was great, no complaints there! read more

The place is amazing in design with all the tv's and it was pretty amazing with the fancy theme but the service was HORRIBLE, the lady who served our food was completely rude and out of line and got my drink completely wrong as I asked her for a root beer but instead was given SPRITE.
