In the middle of COVID, I was having a hankering for some BBQ, but with places being To-Go only at the time, I have to make this review fair as it's not fair to restaurants being judged by delivered food. I have high expectations when it comes to BBQ. My father is a backyard BBQ/Meat Smoker man on Saturdays and so, many places are held to his standard. I saw high reviews for this place and I have been looking for a BBQ place that wasn't 4Rivers, so I wanted to give this place a chance. The good thing is, the price of the entire meal is a great deal. It's not expensive and they do give you a lot of food. But, flavor wise, I just wasn't that impressed. The fries were not golden brown or crispy, the garlic bread wasn't that buttery or garlicky, and the baked beans were sweet, which is weird to me. The chicken, ribs, and sliced pork was par. I am the kind of person who enjoys the taste of meat without any sauces, so if I have to use a sauce, it's not great, and sadly, I had to add bbq sauce to the meats, and even then, I was disappointed and ended up feeding it to my dog. read more

Ok. We are from the BBQ capital of Texas; San Antonio. So we were not expecting much but we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't bad. Brisket was almost overcooked to the point that it almost looked liked chopped beef. But the flavor was good. The ribs had been previously cooked and just put back on the grill sort of like Chili's, also very small. Sides were good especially the baked beans. Eaten at several of their locations, including a couple that have closed down but still the best barbecue in the Orlando area in my opinion. The sides are to die for and if you need a bit of diabetes, the desserts are undefeated as well. Always great service and conversation when you go as well. The manager explained to me why the other locations shut down and guaranteed the remaining 2 are here to stay. Definitely try it out if you're visiting from the Carolina's, it's a piece of home for sure. read more

If i could give them zero stars I would. It was extremely overpriced, and the food was nasty. DO NOT ORDER SIDES. They were the size of a dipping cup. All of our food was dry and bland. The cornbread was very dry and crumbly. My boyfriend ordered the gator sandwich and all it came with was a single slice of bread and gator bites, that's what they considered a sandwich. The chicken lacked seasoning and it was extremely dry. We're so disappointed. Please please please stay away from this place. The only upside was the service wasn't horrible but nothing to write home about. read more

The BEST BBQ EVER! I have been coming to this local Orlando spot for the past 25 years since I was kid! It is the most consistent restaurant in town, the food just never disappoints! Kept pretty clean and maintained very well. When you walk in, you're always immediately greeted and have the best staff to help guide you in your order. I typically get the pulled pork sandwich on texas toast because there is no other way that you should be ordering that! The toast is always tasteful with pulled pork that almost melts in your mouth. I love to pair it with any of their homemade bbq sauces. If you love something hot and sweet, I typically mix the killer and sweet to dress my sandwich and to dip my crinkle fries in. The fries are always perfectly crisp and salty, which you can never complain about. I'm not typically a bean fan but their baked beans are something else and I always finish every bite. read more

Absolutely wonderful experience. After a weary, tiring day, it was an oasis for us. We were greeted by Gilmer who was great at explaining the menu. We were treated like family. We had the fried pickles, wings and brisket/pork platters. Portions are very generous and the food was excellent. We will be back next time we are in Orlando. read more

Bubbalou's may not be fancy, but it has some of the best BBQ in the Orlando area. Let's face it, BBQ is very subjective and everyone has their own personal tastes. I personally prefer it to 4 Rivers and feel that the sauces are 100x better. I enjoyed the sliced pork dinner on this visit which comes which yummy crinkle cut fries, great coleslaw, beans which are near perfect and Texas toast. The iced tea is great and they also have a selection of beers and sodas if you prefer. They have both inside and outside seating and service is usually fast but not super friendly. They don't advertise it, but you can get free refills by going to the counter and asking for it. Parking can be a pain during peak times in this plaza, so you might have to park a little bit away or circle a few times... but it's worth it! read more

I live just down the road from here and it's a big lover of barbecue I couldn't wait to try their food especially since it was so well recommended by friends. I went and got their brisket platter while my husband had two more of their side dishes and french fries as he's a vegetarian. I was so disappointed because my brisket was 90% fat chewy and just overall unpleasant. I felt like I wasted my money on a slab of fat and two or three bites of actual brisket. I have been dining at Bubbalou's for about 20 years. The brisket is really tasty and does not need sauce. That is a sign of proper barbecue when it doesn't need anything to enhance the flavor. Today we ordered sliced brisket sandwiches with sides of potato salad which is also quite tasty like Mom makes. We also ordered a smoked turkey for Thanksgiving dinner. This is a good value as it is $49.00 and for $15 extra they will carve it for you. I love this restaurant and enjoy when we are on this side of town for lunch or dinner. So after being stuck at the airport car rental for 3 hours, and walking universal for two whole days with all the other potter nerds, we needed dinner and fast. We ordered at sonic to pick up and that got royally screwed up after a 30 minutes wait. So we were going to go to chic-fil-a....waited 10 minutes for the line not to move.....seriously it was bad. The kids are crying in the back and my wife and I are super crabby, seriously just going to go to a supermarket and give up. When around the corner we see it, barbecue.....like a beacon of light on a wave battered shore....we were saved. All of the food was delicious, kids ate Mac and cheese, and grilled cheese and wings and fries and all were satisfied. The pulled pork was great with being able to add your own sauce being awesome. We were able to sit outside and it was quick, efficient, and friendly. I even made them change an order and they did it with speed and style. It was all so good, I went back in to get the cake to go. GET THE CHOCOLATE CAKE!!! It was the best piece of cake I have had in a long time. Moist and delicious like a giant piece of chocolate cake should be. So big me and my wife shared it. As I sit here writing this my kids are gleefully playing in our hotel room and the baby is nearly asleep, I have a giant piece of cake in my lap making me feel oh so full, and all is thanks to some delicious barbecue. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You saved us with your delicious moist and juicy meat and cake. If you walked 6.2 miles at universal and waited in hours long lines and overpaid for god damn water(which should be a crime against humanity) and then realized that you still needed to provide your family with one more meal...go here. read more

I recently visited Bubbalou's for the first time and look forward to returning. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the chicken quarter basket. It was one of the most moist and flavorful pieces of white meat chicken that I've ever eaten. My wife had the chicken leg quarter and shared my opinion of it. The baked beans were on point as well. They have great sauces as well. In addition to the food, the staff was exceptional. The managers and staff alike were very nice. The customer service is exceptional. We were out and about and were "hangry"so decided to look for smashburger and accidentally discovered this uniquely named place. It had decent reviews so we tried a turkey and a pulled chicken sandwhich basket. The turkey came without sauce so we were able to choose from the 4 options at the table. It was amazing and moist on soft toasted bread. The pulled chicken came with sauce and was in a bun which was good but the chicken had a little more sauce than I would have put on it. Western cowboy looking interior invites you with an open area outside and an inside filled with wooden tables and all kinda of posters inside of athletes and musicians who visited and left their 2 cents on the dining experience. We went for lunch with 3 people. Ordered pulled pork sandwich with greens and beans as sides. Wait was a bit long but it was worth it. The sandwich came stuffed with meat, with a bit of grease but not too much. Sides came in regular plastic little cups, nothing much to say there, decent sides. The sandwich is VALUE though. Not your usual half assed BBQ sandwich that you pay 15$ for and leave the restaurant hungry. This sandwich not only tasted amazing with soft meat falling apart in your mouth but actually filled me up under 10$ which is unusual for a BBQ joint. Bubbalou's is an order at the counter place with menu boards is not fancy, just finished picnic tables inside the dining room and outside along the front sidewalk and covered outside seating. The food is brought out to your table by number. Each table has a roll of paper towels and sauces including ketchup, hot sauce, and 4 BBQ sauces (sweet & sweet, mild, Hot, & KILLER). The finished wood walls are decorated with game heads, beer signs, and framed articles about Bubbalou's over the years. The menu offers BBQ specialties and comfort foods including sandwiches, baskets, wings, dinners, combos, daily specials, sides (they have fried mac & cheese!), kids menu, desserts (sweet potato pie, pecan pie, brownies), and beverages (Pepsi products, bottled beer, milk). He greeted me with a warm smile and helped me to make my food selection. I ordered the 2 meat special (1/2 slab baby back ribs and 6oz. Sausage). The meal came with 4 sides, homemade baked beans (delish), coleslaw, toast and fries $16.29. The decor has a country feel with a hint of elephant. As an extra bonus they also sell their original spices and sauces. I have to tell you the Killer BBQ sauce is "KILLER"! They offer outside seating. I found everyone super friendly. The pulled pork sandwich is to die for!! Moist and full of flavor on a beautiful buttered bun with fries beans and cole slaw. Yes please! The ribs are also delicious, thick and juicy. They also provide you with different sauces if you like so you're bound to find something you are a fan of :) My personal favorite is their "hot" barbecue sauce.
