Boneless BBQ Wings
Dan M.

This was ordered through a 3rd party. There were no issues regarding deliver time or the order itself. The menu had more than I was anticipating. Besides traditional Mexican cuisine, they had wings and different kinds of tots available too. There were also a lot of toppings to choose from depending on what was being ordered (burrito, burrito bowl, quesadilla, etc.). I went with a burrito ($11.50) with carnitas, brown nice, pinto beans, Pico de Gallo, house salsa, red onion, pickled jalapenos, shredded cheese, lettuce, and sour cream. It appeared to be heavy after I initially picked it up, so I decided to capture the weight. The burrito came in around 1.5 pounds, appropriate I thought. It was nicely made, but there appeared to be something missing. It was solid overall, but I just felt like there was a missing component. I think the carnitas were a little too dry, but besides that, satisfying. I also had the BBQ boneless wings ($11). There were 12 to an order and they were large. The chicken was of good quality and the BBQ sauce was tasty. I would have liked a little more of the sauce present. Will I go back? I would.

I tried this place for the first time yesterday. I placed my order online first, the person at the front was very welcoming (older black gentleman), he even offered a variety of sauce to try and gave me some to try. The tacos were pretty good and flavorful. I just wish and now know to request for no rice or less rice in the tacos, makes it too much for one to eat (heavy) but overall it was good. Will definitely visit again.

Taco salad

I was highly disappointed in this spot. It was dirty from the start but I didn't want to be too critical since It was my first time there. The staff was nice but ehh the presentation was not so good. I ordered the Taco Salad and the girl dug underneath the counter and out came a taco bowl. Ok where did that come from down by your feet. That didn't look to good. On to the next. There were hardly any fixins and they were preparing those per order. Salad tasted ok a lil chemically maybe it was the oil it was fried in. The gloves were not being changed to my liking and the place looked like it needed to be swept and mopped the floors were just nasty. Sorry i will not be going back here anytime soon

They have vegan options although my meal soon became non vegan, by choice. I ordered the soft tacos with vegan boca patty, bbq sauce, mild sauce, sautéed peppers & onions, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, and cheese. The tacos were okay, but I love that I had full control over what I could load onto my tacos. I thought of getting a burrito since that's in their name, but I'll have to save that for a different time. I had a Pure Leaf Fuji Apple & Ginger tea to wash it all down. Yum. It's very spacious and clean inside. The walls are painted a lime green and decorated with surfing and skateboarding photos. Good music choices. They opened 1 week ago and were pretty busy for a Saturday night. I'll stop in again if I'm in the area and try them out another time.

Steak and shrimp hibachi bowl

Overall really enjoyed my first time at one of these. Lots of menu options that other similar chains don't offer with meats, sides, and desserts. Loved trying the steak and shrimp bowl. The meat is cooked fresh right then. It had great flavor and was very cooked perfectly. The topping part was what you'd expect. Disappointed that the cooked pepper and onions are considered an upgrade though. They have great chips with the perfect crunch. My husband got a burrito with double meat and unfortunately it was so full it kinda fell apart. They probably need to double wrap like chipotle does when there's double meat. This location was very quiet at lunch on the weekend. Service was very friendly and professional. I'm sure we'd go back again if we were passing by at a mealtime.

Lunch catering

Bubbakoos catered our office for lunch. This was my first time having it. The presentation was nice and they gave us 2 large trays of chips and a large tray of shredded cheese. Fried oreos we're slightly rubbery but I guess you can't expect that fresh out of the frier taste when it's being catered. Their guacamole was delicious, spicy, with strong flavors of onion, lime and cilantro and it was chunky. The taco meat was standard. But chicken was quite dry. Overall good lunch.

Burrito bowl
Megna V.

When I think burrito bowl I think something massive and full like chipotle/qdoba. I will say if that's what you're expecting you'll be disappointed. It felt more like I was eating a salad. The interior is very well designed and spacious though.

Fried raw oreo

I dont know what is a bigger disappointment. My dad never coming back from walmart to raise me or eating my 5 raw fried oreos from this place. Thanks for the salmonella

Bubbakoos offers a fresh twist on the build your own taco/burrito joint. Awesome quality marinated meats and fresh ingredients. The staff at this location is phenomenally friendly and welcoming.

And…read moresince I used to go to Jose Tejas regularly when my workplace was across from one, I can offer the following comparisons: * Ambiance: Quieter here. More upscale. Instead of going for the festive angle of Mex, they go for the decor. * Service: Slower. I remember Jose Tejas always had someone come by your table to refill drinks, check on your order... not here. Ordering was awkward, although at least they got our orders right. We just got water - I would have loved to specify "lemon, no ice", but both waters arrived with lemon and ice. * Food: OK. Edit. I was going to say "smaller", but then I saw that Tejas' portions started downsizing around the time we left town. So maybe it's actually on par here. I really liked the taste of my barbacoa, but the barbacoa taco eater across from me was less impressed. The rice and beans were very m'eh; I think you get more flavor at Jose, but second edit - my other review said you get more salt, so that might again cancel the advantage. You do get a nice side of guac on your house specialty plate, which is rare to find for free (not even listed on the menu), but I paid more than my date for what might have even been less food. (She got three tortillas, I got two...) Finally, the meal started with smoky but rather flavorless salsa, no heat at all, that came with our thin opening chips - the salsa is hotter at Tejas, the chips are thicker, but much saltier. * Intangibles: This one's in a mall. Restaurant wasn't all that crowded, but parking isn't the easiest with all the other shops. Whereas Jose was standalone, but so crowded that parking wasn't the easiest either. Final edit. If you put the two restaurants side by side, I would pick the Jose I used to know by a nose, but Uncle Julio's wins over the last time I went to Jose. I would have to go back to compare. Caveat eator.

Once we were seated, it took about 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. When someone finally did, he was very apologetic and welcoming. Our server, Luis, was great--he took the time to walk us through the menu and checked on us throughout the meal. Excellent customer service on his part. I ordered the Carne Asada, a marinated 21-day aged outside skirt steak, but unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the flavor. It tasted pretty bland to me, and the side dish wasn't what I expected. I was anticipating jasmine rice, but it tasted more like quinoa. Overall, the food just wasn't my thing, so I don't see myself returning. That said, Luis provided great service and deserves recognition.

The restaurant serves delicious, fresh food in a very homey atmosphere. The servers are kind, attentive, and so helpful; from time to time, you might even be served by Pancho himself, who is an absolute gem! We started with the guacamole and chips, followed by the nachos, where you can customize them with your choice of meat. For our entrees, we ordered the Huaraches with steak, which is a large, handmade, slightly fried tortilla topped with beans, onions, lettuce, crema, and cheese. We also got the Tacos, which come five to an order. You can choose up to two meats, but we stuck with the classic Al Pastor. The meat was so tender and flavorful, served with the traditional onion, cilantro, and lime on the side. Finally, and my personal favorite, we had the Picaditas. Like the tacos, you can choose two meats, so we went with Al Pastor and steak. Similar to the Huaraches, these are four smaller, slightly fried homemade tortillas with green and red sauce on the bottom, topped with lettuce, onion, and cheese! To wash everything down, we had the homemade Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus tea), though their Horchata is also delicious. Overall, this is one of my favorite spots; it reminds me of my childhood, and the food is just as good as what you'd find in Mexico. If you're looking for an authentic experience, this is it!

This unassuming gem is so great, and seems to thrive on takeout orders, leaving the dining room virtually empty (yay us!) We had an assortment of dishes to get a feel of what this place was good at and to no surprise: they aced every single one. The fish tacos, though they looked plain, were so flavorful and crispy and we couldn't get enough. The other types of tacos were also packed with flavor and so incredibly addicting. We also shared nachos as an appetizer and to our surprise, the chips were fresh and the nachos were topped with tender pieces of steak. It's hard to find a good pozole, and this one was filled with meat and honestly could have served as two meals with how much was given to us. This just might have to be our new go-to Mexican spot - it seems like my days of taco trucks are over since I can get some amazing tacos here!

The bartender guided us on the drink options and offered suggestions, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered the spicy margarita, which was delicious. We then were seated up stairs (the decor and ambiance of this place is beautiful!). They provide complimentary chips and salsa (my fav). The owner came by to apologize for the wait, which really wasn't terrible, and offered us two free tacos on the house. They were delicious! One chicken and one beef. We ordered the toca vez salad and plantain and coconut shrimp sushi (UNREAL!). Both were delicious but the plantain starter was heavenly. I ordered the scallop risotto. Delicious! My husband ordered the salmon and it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Cooked to perfection!! Shrimp tacos - tender seasoned shrimp served on fresh corn tortillas and a spicy sauce on the side were excellent. The steaks - one medium rare ribeye was surprisingly lean, but tender and flavorful and was beautifully cooked. The filet ordered medium came somewhere between rare and medium rare. But it was tender as expected (it is prime filet after all). Asparagus side was phenomenal. Shoestring fries came out crisp but oddly room temp. Sea bass dish was good, but the menu description failed to adequately describe the ingredients. The steaks were typical upscale steakhouse, but I guess I was hoping for a more Mexican-inspired flare when it came to the sauces or sides. Service was well-coordinated and available and friendly and efficient. The area that was lacking was the knowledge of the food. No one knew what was in the sauce that accompanied the shrimp tacos. It's okay not to know perhaps, but say I don't know and go find out. Also requested information about the dishes was lacking, particularly when it came to food allergies which one person in our party had.
