    steak burrito
    Aneesha M.

The steak burrito was good. The steak along with all the other ingredients were cooked very well. However, it lacked a bit of seasoning and flavor. The green sauce on the side was delicious and helped add flavor to the burrito but i wish the ingredients inside like the meat and beans were marinated or more seasoned. The burrito itself was a bit loosely packed and not very filling, but overall, it was still enjoyable. I stopped by inside to pick up my order and the restaurant was beautiful and had a nice amount of indoor seating. There were 2 tables and seats outside the restaurant to casually sit and eat.

Caught the truck at a local food truck festival. So good and flavorful!! Got the Carne Asada tacos and they did not disappoint. I would definitely be back!! I ordered and my food was ready in 5 minutes. Came with a side of the hot sauce, which had a kick, but not too hot. .

Wow! The Burrito Loco is the best burrito I've ever had. Incredible mix of ingredients inside and the cheese skirt on the outside intakes it to a new level. My wife got the Tacos Campechanos and they were also great; loaded with meat and guac. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the experience. This is my new local spot for Mexican food.

Wow had no idea this place is also a brick n mortar! I was lucky enough to catch the truck posted at Readington Brewery and what a treat! As per my previous reviews, my pet peeve is breweries without real food. So I was amped to see the extensive menu at the food truck. And, as per my previous reviews, my other pet peeve is authentic tacos, I was equally amped to see an array of offerings beyond tacos. We ordered chorrisqueso, beef empanadas, pork tacos, and asada quesadillas. Everything was cooked fresh to order within 15 minutes and it was some of the best food I've had in years. I'm legit giddy that there's an actual restaurant I can go to in order to get my fix. The folks staffing the truck were so warm and friendly. Good vibes all around!

Tacos - Asada, Adobada and Chicken

The truck was at the Paramus Food Truck Festival over the weekend. Got 3 tacos, Asada, Adobada, and Chicken. They ran out of Carnita, so we got Chicken instead. Chicken was OK but plain. Asada was good. Adobada was the best! Will have to go to the brick and mortar location soon!

Small, festively decorated place. Friendly and efficient service. Went here with a small group, and everyone loved their food. The nachos came out warm, and the salsas are definitely homemade. Definitely going back to this little gem.

And…read moresince I used to go to Jose Tejas regularly when my workplace was across from one, I can offer the following comparisons: * Ambiance: Quieter here. More upscale. Instead of going for the festive angle of Mex, they go for the decor. * Service: Slower. I remember Jose Tejas always had someone come by your table to refill drinks, check on your order... not here. Ordering was awkward, although at least they got our orders right. We just got water - I would have loved to specify "lemon, no ice", but both waters arrived with lemon and ice. * Food: OK. Edit. I was going to say "smaller", but then I saw that Tejas' portions started downsizing around the time we left town. So maybe it's actually on par here. I really liked the taste of my barbacoa, but the barbacoa taco eater across from me was less impressed. The rice and beans were very m'eh; I think you get more flavor at Jose, but second edit - my other review said you get more salt, so that might again cancel the advantage. You do get a nice side of guac on your house specialty plate, which is rare to find for free (not even listed on the menu), but I paid more than my date for what might have even been less food. (She got three tortillas, I got two...) Finally, the meal started with smoky but rather flavorless salsa, no heat at all, that came with our thin opening chips - the salsa is hotter at Tejas, the chips are thicker, but much saltier. * Intangibles: This one's in a mall. Restaurant wasn't all that crowded, but parking isn't the easiest with all the other shops. Whereas Jose was standalone, but so crowded that parking wasn't the easiest either. Final edit. If you put the two restaurants side by side, I would pick the Jose I used to know by a nose, but Uncle Julio's wins over the last time I went to Jose. I would have to go back to compare. Caveat eator.

Vegetarian options were pretty limited, but I have to give credit to the staff - they really tried to work with us and accommodate our needs. I came here for my birthday dinner with family on a Monday night. It was nicely calm, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It wasn't too loud or too quiet. The chocolate piñata dessert was impressive and looked great, though the chocolate was a bit too sweet for my liking.

My chicken breast was good (everything else on the plate was bland), and my daughter's green enchiladas were ok. My husband's birria quesadilla was very good according to him and my daughter. The service was awful! The waitress handed us iPad menus and never said to order on the tablet or if she was going to come back for our order. The menu is not extensive, just fyi. You can only get taco platters with all the same taco meat, not a variety. The enchiladas are also only 1 way for all three on the plate. Whatever...I can deal with that, if the food was great. It's not. The black beans were room temp with no seasoning, the corn on the cob - no salt, no butter. The guac was also bland. We were never offered water refills and she never asked us if we wanted a drink until after our meals came. We didn't, but it was said with a huge sigh and eye-roll. As a side note, this was a grown woman waiting on us, like an abuela, not a teenager. She never came back to our table, until she saw another waitress come over and bring us boxes for leftovers - that we had to go to the bar to ask for. Oh, important point - the restaurant was not busy, so she was not in the weeds. The restaurant could be an amazing spot if the service was better and they seasoned the food. It is NOT worth the money.

It took a while to track down the staff who seemed to be busy with take-out orders, so it took a while to order and track them down during the meal. We ordered tacquitos and the chicharron, both were ok. I think both could've used more flavor, as it felt a little underwhelming for my taste. The entrees we had were tortas and tacos and these were both a lot more flavorful. The only issue was with the steak, it was very tough. Delivery is often incorrect, but I keep going back for the delicious tacos. Even when they send me the wrong protein and no salsa! Also be aware that if you order the guacamole, it doesn't mean they're gonna send you any chips. I learned that the hard way. The restaurant itself is cute. Doesn't look like anything special from the outside, but they have a huge bar and the seating area is comfortable.

The restaurant serves delicious, fresh food in a very homey atmosphere. The servers are kind, attentive, and so helpful; from time to time, you might even be served by Pancho himself, who is an absolute gem! We started with the guacamole and chips, followed by the nachos, where you can customize them with your choice of meat. For our entrees, we ordered the Huaraches with steak, which is a large, handmade, slightly fried tortilla topped with beans, onions, lettuce, crema, and cheese. We also got the Tacos, which come five to an order. You can choose up to two meats, but we stuck with the classic Al Pastor. The meat was so tender and flavorful, served with the traditional onion, cilantro, and lime on the side. Finally, and my personal favorite, we had the Picaditas. Like the tacos, you can choose two meats, so we went with Al Pastor and steak. Similar to the Huaraches, these are four smaller, slightly fried homemade tortillas with green and red sauce on the bottom, topped with lettuce, onion, and cheese! To wash everything down, we had the homemade Agua de Jamaica (hibiscus tea), though their Horchata is also delicious. Overall, this is one of my favorite spots; it reminds me of my childhood, and the food is just as good as what you'd find in Mexico. If you're looking for an authentic experience, this is it!

The fish tacos, though they looked plain, were so flavorful and crispy and we couldn't get enough. The other types of tacos were also packed with flavor and so incredibly addicting. We also shared nachos as an appetizer and to our surprise, the chips were fresh and the nachos were topped with tender pieces of steak. It's hard to find a good pozole, and this one was filled with meat and honestly could have served as two meals with how much was given to us.
