We've been here before and like it. My husband likes it here. Food is good and service is ok. One…read morething I didn't like was last time I came on a Monday and it's $5 margaritas on Mondays but when I asked the waitress for drink specials she said they didn't have any. She wasn't truthful and while I understand she would want a higher bill for higher tip, it's not a good way to earn customer loyalty. Skip the esquites, they are $8 and use canned corn not fresh. The Blue Hawaiin was delicious! Oh and it's not a language barrier as Spanish is my first language.

On one visit we ordered nachos as an appetizer, our entrees came out really quickly so we asked for it to be packed to go. The server misunderstood and disposed of the food. Food is inconsistent but spicy chicken is always delish. Also a big fan of their burgers. When done right it's the best burger in the neighborhood. Delivery is often incorrect, but I keep going back for the delicious tacos. Even when they send me the wrong protein and no salsa! Also be aware that if you order the guacamole, it doesn't mean they're gonna send you any chips. I learned that the hard way. The restaurant itself is cute. Doesn't look like anything special from the outside, but they have a huge bar and the seating area is comfortable.

Came here on a beautiful Saturday after getting slammed with a NJ blizzard and this was a great…read moretreat! Got here around 2pm to an empty restaurant so it was nice for my overtired but refuse to nap toddler and my 9 month old daughter who refuses to sit still. Restaurant was very simple with tables along the left side and restrooms on the right. I wouldn't say it's a big place but it's a decent size. Since it was just us, we ordered right away. I got the birria tacos and my husband got the steak enchiladas. Holy birria those tacos were fantastic. The taco shells had just the right amount of crispy softness where it wasn't overly cooked to make it a hard shell. When you bit into it, the juices came out from the other side of my taco and the meted cheese was nice and stringy- if you know what I mean. The meat was cooked perfectly where it wasn't too dry and chewy. I drowned my tacos in the sauce they give you and housed my 3 tacos. It was the perfect amount where I was full after eating but not overly stuffed. My husband loved his steak enchilada. I tried a few bites and I loved the spicy kick to it...so if you're not a spicy eater, I'd skip out on this. It was the type of spice here you know the dish is spicy but it's not overpowering where I feel like my tongue and esophagus is on fire. My husband loved the little kick but was still able to enjoy the meal without wanted to eat a tub of ice cream. He also ordered the mango shake which was absolutely delicious. Super creamy and that mango sweetness was perfect. Our hostess was great- she talked of my daughter and made sure we were ok even though we were the only ones there! I definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Service is where it gets questionable. We did BYOB, and they handed US pint glasses for wine. We saw the next table, who came in after us, get served wine glasses without being asked. Further, our order got mixed up, and we didn't get what we ordered. Overall, I wouldn't say it is bad, but extremely awkward. The ambiance was small with plenty of seating. For a Sunday, it felt empty.

I think we both agreed this is just Tex-Mex. She remembered it being really good, so we went. And…read moresince I used to go to Jose Tejas regularly when my workplace was across from one, I can offer the following comparisons: * Ambiance: Quieter here. More upscale. Instead of going for the festive angle of Mex, they go for the decor. * Service: Slower. I remember Jose Tejas always had someone come by your table to refill drinks, check on your order... not here. Ordering was awkward, although at least they got our orders right. We just got water - I would have loved to specify "lemon, no ice", but both waters arrived with lemon and ice. * Food: OK. Edit. I was going to say "smaller", but then I saw that Tejas' portions started downsizing around the time we left town. So maybe it's actually on par here. I really liked the taste of my barbacoa, but the barbacoa taco eater across from me was less impressed. The rice and beans were very m'eh; I think you get more flavor at Jose, but second edit - my other review said you get more salt, so that might again cancel the advantage. You do get a nice side of guac on your house specialty plate, which is rare to find for free (not even listed on the menu), but I paid more than my date for what might have even been less food. (She got three tortillas, I got two...) Finally, the meal started with smoky but rather flavorless salsa, no heat at all, that came with our thin opening chips - the salsa is hotter at Tejas, the chips are thicker, but much saltier. * Intangibles: This one's in a mall. Restaurant wasn't all that crowded, but parking isn't the easiest with all the other shops. Whereas Jose was standalone, but so crowded that parking wasn't the easiest either. Final edit. If you put the two restaurants side by side, I would pick the Jose I used to know by a nose, but Uncle Julio's wins over the last time I went to Jose. I would have to go back to compare. Caveat eator.

Once we were seated, it took about 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. When someone finally did, he was very apologetic and welcoming. Our server, Luis, was great--he took the time to walk us through the menu and checked on us throughout the meal. Excellent customer service on his part. I ordered the Carne Asada, a marinated 21-day aged outside skirt steak, but unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the flavor. It tasted pretty bland to me, and the side dish wasn't what I expected. I was anticipating jasmine rice, but it tasted more like quinoa. Overall, the food just wasn't my thing, so I don't see myself returning. That said, Luis provided great service and deserves recognition.

While visiting New Jersey recently I wanted to go somewhere I couldn't go to back home . That's…read morealways the goal to try out new places . So upon doing my research I came across this restaurant. Now of course upon reading reviews everyone said to get there early because the line can get long especially on a Saturday and Sunday morning. So we arrived around 8:30 on Saturday and we were seated right away because it was only two of us . The service was excellent we were seated right away . Our waiter came out and gave us the rundown of the menu . They had a promo menu because of the Devil Wears Prada movie . I did get a specialty non alcoholic drink from the menu which was excellent. We ordered the French toast and the avocado toast with scrambled eggs and it came with smoked salmon on sourdough bread . The French toast was so good and moist you didn't even need to add additional syrup . The food was delicious and the portion sizes are perfect . The restaurant is cozy so if you have a big party make reservations. But you won't be disappointed I can't wait to visit Brunch by De Martino again whenever I come back to New Jersey . Please check them out you won't regret it .

My family and I have been supporting the Martino's Cuban Restaurant family restaurants for years,…read moregoing back to the original Martino's from his dad's side (which we truly miss). So coming here carries a bit of nostalgia for us. This concept feels very different from the original. It's definitely a more modern, upscale take. Portions are smaller, prices are higher, and the menu feels more elevated with a mix of Cuban-inspired and American flavors rather than strictly traditional Cuban comfort food. That said, the food is genuinely very good. The Cuban sandwich was easily one of the best we've had in New Jersey. Unlike many places that mostly use ham with a thin layer of pork, this one had thick, flavorful pieces of pork that made it feel much more authentic. A few other favorites: - The tostones with guacamole were a great starter. - Their chocolate latte used to be one of our favorites (sadly it seems to have been replaced by a raspberry chocolate version, which wasn't for us). - The seasonal pumpkin iced latte was excellent. - The strawberry banana waffles were more than enough to share. - The scrambled eggs and thick-cut bacon were fresh and delicious. We spent about $140 for breakfast for a family of four, so it's definitely on the pricier side, but it felt fitting for a special occasion like Mother's Day. A heads-up: reservations are only accepted for parties of six or more, so smaller groups are first come, first served. On Mother's Day, we waited about an hour after arriving at 8:30 AM, but their digital waitlist system made it easy to track our place in line while running errands nearby. Do we miss the old Martino's? Absolutely. The larger portions and casual family feel were special to us. But this restaurant offers something different--more polished, more curated, and still very enjoyable. I'd recommend it for brunch dates, family celebrations, or when you want to treat yourself.
