Some highlights were the guac which was the perfect texture with a good hint of lime. I also loved the chicken tinga tacos, which were super flavorful and marinated. I was a bit disappointed with the drinks. The first time I came I loved the lychee martini, but didn't like it as much this time. There's not much consistency with the cocktails. We popped into Salted Lime Bar & Kitchen in Somerville recently and had a solid experience. We ordered the sweet plantains, chips & guacamole, and a Cuban quesadilla. The sweet plantains were nicely caramelized and sweet without being cloying. The chips & guacamole came out fresh, the chips still warm, and the guac had a nice balance of creaminess and brightness. The Cuban quesadilla was hearty and satisfying with good melty cheese, with a nice touch from the fillings. Ambience is casual but lively, perfect for hanging with friends or a relaxed dinner. Staff were friendly and responsive. Portion sizes felt moderate (not huge) so if you're very hungry you might want to add another dish. Pricing leans a bit toward "mid‑upper" for this kind of food. The noise level at times crept up, though it never got excessive for conversation. All in all, a very enjoyable visit. I'd go back and try more of their menu. read more

I've always wanted to come here and I'm really glad I did. We were greeted right away and given a choice of a high top or low top table. We opted for a low top whichever as around the corner of the bar. Our server was wonderful. He greeted us inquiring about our choice of water as we glanced over the drink and food menus. We each ordered a flavored margarita, mine watermelon and my friend's raspberry. I asked if it was frozen or on the rocks. He informed me it was on ice and I soad that wontons it's too strong that way. He joked and said then I guess you'll be one and done. It came and it was actually perfect. Great flavor of watermelon and not too strong at all. We ordered chips and salsa and each of us ordered tacos as well. My friend had the birria tacos and I, the shrimp. Muni parking lot in the back, watch the signs as many spots are for specific businesses, street parking, too. A parking deck in the back, as well. The 14-day pastrami beef dino rib looked amazing, but alas, only Friday & Saturdays (takes about 30min to make according to the server). Guacamole and fresh chips are a great start, anejo wings were very spicy so keep that in mind, spicy tuna chalupa was ok in a scallion pancake which was creative; I preferred the banh mi bao buns. Loaded tots with cheese a hit, too. Chorizo & mussels were ok, but the mussels could've used a bit more cleaning as I had some sand to contend with. Crunchy bell tacos reminded folks of Taco Bell Dorito Tacos. Service - top notch. Good presence and a lot of help getting us more food. Food - mixed, some good, some ok, but nothing bad. We had a very nice experience sitting outside at this cute Mexican restaurant. They had luncheon specials we asked the waiter about some of the dishes that were not on the specials list. We opted for a couple of those dishes. My wife had the burger and was exetremly happy about the taste and the portion. The waiter told us that the burger will be dry and recommend having it medium rare to medium. It really came out great. I decided to get the short rib tacos. They were absolutely great! the short ribs were very tender burnt ends and the flavor of the tacos was outstaning. I had a bite and then decided to take a photo. The restaurant was very nice inside. I had gone to Salted Lime over the years and was sad to see its decline. It was very subtle because at first glance, you wouldn't know it, especially if it was your first time. Alas, I just kept getting baffled every time something came out (or didn't). No more complimentary chips & salsa, that's $9 now, the salsa looked like marinara, the chips were warm but didn't taste fresh. Sangria had no fruit. The rice bowl tasted more Asian than Mexican, especially the rice (IYKYK). The salad had some non-Mexican herb in it and the dressing wasn't Mexican either. The portions were also sparse and the food could've used... um, salt and lime! If I had gone there expecting fusion food, it might have been okay. Not my first visit, but definitely not the last. To-date, this has been one of our favourite places to eat out in Somerville downtown (we live close-by), where you can always be certain you'll have some amazing food (regardless what you order), with friendly and efficient staff at the ready. Wednesdays are 'special for locals' when the restaurant offers a 3-course dinner menu for $30, so coming in hungry was definitely a good idea. My husband - not so hungry - ordered a Smash Burger, which honestly reminded him of one you'd order at McDonalds (really good fries though) - relatively small and very similar flavours (beef patty and cheddar cheese); in other words, rather simplistic when comparing to most of other non-North American dishes. Luckily, my own order was a bit much for me alone, so I shared my Entree...speaking of my order, I got Avocado Salad as my 1st course, Chicken Flauta as my 2nd (yumm!) and Churros for desert. Sharing a bit of everything, we both left "stuffed" and happy! Always good vibes in this place, with music being not overly loud so one can have a conversation. Oh, I should also give a special shoutout for their dishware - to me, caring a lot about aesthetics, these are some of my favourite bowls to eat from. We had a taco bar at the office. It was nicely organized with assorted options to choose from such as cheese, rice, beans, salsa, etc. There was a choice of beef, chicken, or pork protein. I just had one taco each of pork and chicken. I am not a fan of corn tortillas (only choice we had), but these actually were solid and held up nicely with the amount of filing I added to each taco. Food: the lunch menu is different than the dinner menu so I'm not sure if these items are always available. The manchego fries had a delicious aioli but they were definitely too expensive for what you receive. It's essentially fries with a few shreds of cheese. Not worth the $10. The shrimp bowl was packed with flavor, but same sentiment as the fries. For $18, you get 5 pieces of shrimp and mostly rice. Although I love the pickled mango and the aji Amarillo, it doesn't feel worth $18. The salmon sandwich was delicious and the side salad was perfectly dressed. We really enjoyed this. Somerville is one of those towns that has so many good restaurants, but this one may still live up to its hype! Came here on the suggestion of a foodie friend. They don't have a parking lot but even coming on a Saturday evening, there's ample parallel parking around the area. We came on a whim so there was only bar seating available without a wait. Took awhile to flag down waitstaff to take down our orders. But otherwise, the noise volume here was well managed, despite there being plenty of patrons. Loved that the punch drunk love had guava nectar in it. It's sweet enough to savor with a fruity buzz without being overwhelming. The lime flavor came through very strongly. For the main dishes we ordered A) a rice bowl with vegetables. Mix it well! The aioli and chipotle powder made it a fool proof dish. If you don't like fruit in your savory dishes, please note there is mango-- and proceed with caution. and B) mahi mole amarillo- the shiitake and fried zucchini had such a zing- it was our favorite dish of the two. Salted Lime didn't satisfy my craving for Mexican food like I hoped it would...plus the menu here is WAY overpriced. The salsa rojas (chips with red salsa) was $5 and the chips were thick and salty. The birria tacos were $26 (3 tacos/order) and the consome it came with was served room temperature and lacked depth, spice, salt, and flavor. The chicken mole flauta (one medium-sized flauta cut in half) was $13 and actually tasted *okay*, but if you're looking for authentic mole sauce, you won't find it here. The mole lacked the smokiness and earthiness this sauce is known for. Our server was nice and the interior is fun but overall, I don't think it'd be worth it to come back. read more

They have outdoor seating as well in summer. Their food menu is pretty limited which changes every few months but have both vegetarian and non-vegeterian options. We went on a Saturday afternoon lunch and seated right away. Being vegetarian, we ordered salsa, guac, yucca fries, kale salad, mushroom flatbread and black bean and roasted veggies. The brussel sprouts, kale salad, salsa and yucca frites were pretty good. Guac was ok, didn't like the mushroom flatbread and black bean entree - both were bland. Visited Salted Lime Bar after hanging out at the Spotted Leaf which is right next door. My friend and I were craving good food and strong drinks so this place looked like it would be a vibe! The Salted Lime Bar is very spacious! I love how they have the bar right in the middle with seating around it. They even have more space in the back. My friend and I visited on a Saturday around 1pm and it wasn't busy which was great. Our waitress came over immediately and was super friendly. She gave us enough time to decide what we wanted from the menu. For drinks, my friend and I ordered the summer blues and mash up the peach. Both were strong and flavorful! For our entrees, we ordered chicken quesadillas and elote with fried cheese. I loved how they created the elote dish with a twist. Not the normal, corn on the cob with toppings. Drove here in pouring rain on a Monday night. Thankfully they're open until 9pm but the kitchen closes at 8pm. Was a little hard to find parking - the closest is meters so remember to bring quarters however I found a nearby lot (still need to pay at certain times). I ordered a spicy margarita which came out super fast and was delicious. Not sure why they serve the guac and salsa separate - should be together? We tried just the guac which was very fresh though. Their hot sauce is basically packets of Cholula on side of table which is fine besides having to open each individually. If you're a hot sauce addict like me it makes life harder! Lol The chicken taquitos were tasty - thought a little more could've been inside them though. The arctic char aguachile special was AWESOMEEEE - def get that! The crispy muchroom taco (with some extra guac and hot sauce on top) was really good. Also downed the fish taco - very fresh and loved the onions. The MOST delicious though was def the birria tacos. You realllyyyyy need to try those with the local Beaver Brook Ranch beef. The two dipping sauces def make the taco. My friend ordered the Cuban sandwich which we didn't have room for - but the yucca fries with the sauce they come with were some of the best I've ever had. The strawberry tres leches was also BOMB. I really enjoyed the food and drinks here - delectable! The staff was polite - wouldn't say overly friendly - but were quick to take our order and check on us. The inside of the place has a fun mural on one side, Mexican banners hanging from ceiling, upside down umbrellas in back. Super colorful and has an artsy kick while still keeping a clean/simple/industrial kind of feeling. There is A LOT of seating plus large bar to sit at. I liked the upbeat music until the closing. I suddenly heard a song that sounded different and within what felt like 30 seconds the lights were on and the music was shut off. What a great lunch! We ended up at this restaurant unexpectedly, but I'm so glad that we did! I started out with a sunset Drive fishbowl drink which was amazing. For entrées, we ordered the watermelon tuna salad, the mango chipotle Calamari a tempura fish taco, shrimp taco and A Pollo à la Brasa taco. All I can say is wow! I've been here a couple of times with my wife and this is one of our favorite restaurants in the area. This restaurant is very large on the inside. The servers attentive as is the manager/(owner?). We get the chicken lollipop appetizer every time, which is phenomenal and my wife gets the taco bowl. It is too much food! I've had the tacos and the suckling pig on different occasions. Last night was my second time here and I'm a fan! Last time I was here we started with the fried cheese sticks and a street corn dip. I don't think they serve the dip anymore. Both apps were sooo good. This time we just did chips salsa and guac. To drink I had the naked in a hotel hallway and later a disco princess. Both were extremely good. To eat, both times I've been here I've had the chicken burrito. It's huge and not the most authentic but nonetheless does the job. This time I came with large group (8) and our server was amazing!
